User questions & answers
Question: | How big of screw does this use? Will it make large holes in my wall? We need to find something that can be used inside our condo |
Answer: | I am using this stand without any screws. I just lean it to the wall, and that's it. Very convenient, no drilling needed. |
Question: | A women's bike does not have a straight rod from the seat to the handle. How will such a bike be hung |
Answer: | First, plan to place the women's bike on the bottom. Second, place the brackets at two different levels on the side of the main bar. Third, twist the curved cup / bar holders to accommodate the slanted bike rod. |
Question: | can you service your bikes while they are sitting on the stand? is there enough room to rotate pedals and use all moving parts freely |
Answer: | My rack is anchored to the wall. I have two large bikes, that means the top one is high and the bottom one has wheels just touching the ground. The pedals on the top one are about eye-level and everything rotates freely. If you put one mid-height you can service it. |
Question: | How does the 4 bike rack attach to the wall? I see how the 2 bike rack could bolt in easily but with 4 bikes it will be away from the wall |
Answer: | The 4 bike rack does not mount to the wall. It has a round base and stands freely wherever you decide to put it. It has great balance and does not wobble. The cool thing about the 4 bike rack is that you don't have to have all 4 arm sets attached. I currently have only 2 arm sets attached. It is very versitle. |

User questions & answers
Question: | anyone with road wheels concerned about weight of the bike damaging the wheel |
Answer: | I have three of these racks, all of them supporting heavy "beach cuisers" in vertical positions. I would suggest mounting the rack at a height that allows the bike to rest on the rear tire, thereby taking some of the weight off the rack. This has kept a lot of stress off the rack(wall) as well as the front wheel. I've not had any visible damage to any of my front wheels. |
Question: | Does this system put a lot of weight (the whole bike) on the rim of the front wheel? Does it not bend the rim after awhile |
Answer: | The weight it puts on the wheel in this position is nowhere near the amount of force that's applied when you sit on it. Remember that spokes are designed to take hanging force, not rigid vertical force from the bottom. So hanging on the spokes like this is exactly what they are designed to do. |
Question: | If I am hanging multiple racks side by side, alternating higher and lower, how much clearance between the racks do I need to leave |
Answer: | I was limited for space on my 60" wall, so I hung four brackets 12" apart and like you're planning, alternated them between high and low. I own four 26" Specialized mountain bikes with standard length handlebars. To make them fit, I inverted (faced downwards) the lower bracketed bikes and kept the upper bracketed bikes facing upwards. The clearance between the handlebars is 1-2". The reason I hang it that way is so I can take any bike out without having it interfere with the others. Hope this helps. |
Question: | Is the bike rigidly perpendicular to the wall or does the bike to swing from side to side when hanging on this rack |
Answer: | It won't necessarily swing on its own but no, it does not lock rigidly into position. That said, even if you were to bump into the bike while it was hanging there, it would fall off the hook. |

User questions & answers
Question: | Is it possible to get a replacement rope? My lift is older. The rope is wearing, and the lift is getting stuck when I try to lower my bike |
Answer: | We have three of these lifts for our various tandem bikes, which are quite a bit heavier than a typical single bike. We were unsure whether the supplied lightweight rope would be up to the task, so we replaced it from the outset with 8mm climbing rope from an outdoor-gear store. After several years of regular use, the climbing rope shows no signs of wear or stretching. |
Question: | Will this hold a bike horizontally at the ceiling |
Answer: | Yes, as long as it is mounted into the studs, it will hold the bike horizontally at the ceiling. This unit has to be mounted into the studs. |
Question: | is the pull up & pull down movement smooth & even? or kinda jerky as you let out the rope (or pull it up). thanks |
Answer: | The pull up is smooth. However on the pull down you actually have to pull the bike or whatever you are keeping on the mount down while at the same time giving the cord some slack making a vertical line so the lock won't activate. So it si not jerky but not so smooth. |
Question: | We have these bike lifts and are taking them to a different house. Can anyone tell us how far apart do you mount the 2 brackets |
Answer: | Hello. If you measure the distance between your handle bars and the back of the saddle or seat, that will be the distance to the center of each bracket as you want to be able to lower your bike straight down. |

User questions & answers
Question: | How much weight is it rated for |
Answer: | Do not know the exact weight but I have a men's and woman's Trek 300 all terrain bikes on it. I'll admit it's a little wobbly but hold the bikes securely. |
Question: | when secured to a stud, what is the max weight this should be able to hold? It should hold two bikes right |
Answer: | Mine holds two bikes. It states they should be 50lbs max each. So the rack will hold 100lbs. Did the rack buckle, or did the screws give? |
Question: | What is the depth of the double (inches from the wall to end of rack)? Item dimensions 21 x 13 x 14 but not sure which is depth |
Answer: | Product depth 13in, product height 21 in and product width 12.513 is the depth and please be aware this bike rack is used |
Question: | What is the width that the hooks end up at? I need 14 inches to align with the hooks so front handle bars do not turn the front tire |
Answer: | The forks of the rack are 12 inches long. My handle bars do not touch the garage wall. You could add a 2X4 between the wall and the rack to add clearance paint the color of the wall or rack and no one will notice |

User questions & answers
Question: | How far does the stand come from the wall |
Answer: | Not far. The top bar has a flat hunk of plastic (an inch or so thick) that must make direct contact with the wall. The legs curve forward a bit, and they probably sit about a foot from the wall, I reckon. |
Question: | Will this work on carpet as well |
Answer: | I have mine on carpet and it works great. |
Question: | We have a shed with an inside side height of 72". Any way this will fit |
Answer: | Cut a hole in the roof of your shed. |
Question: | Will this work with two bikes with women's frames? The photo shows men's frames - which have the straight bar across instead of the angle |
Answer: | Might help to get a horizontal adapter bar for women’s frames. They are used for trailer hitch bike racks. Typically run about $10-$20. |

Answer: | Yes. The hook holds your bike vertically by holding on to the front tire. |
Question: | Could you fit a bike lock through the raised side bit of metal to lock a bike to this |
Answer: | That portion is right next to the tire so there isn't a lot of room. You might be able to fit a thin cable lock if it's a mountain bike. A u-type lock might fit on a street bike, but it would be tight. |
Question: | What size hole do i have to drill for the screws |
Answer: | Sorry I don't know I just looked at the screw and held up a drill bit that was about equal and drilled. |

User questions & answers
Question: | Would it be possible to put screws into the hooks so that they were permantly mounted and fixed in place on the bar |
Answer: | Yes, in fact we found it was the only way we could easily take off and mount the bikes, as otherwise the hooks tend to slide along the rack |
Question: | Does it work for road bikes as well |
Answer: | This works excellent . Make sure and mount it to studs in your wall.I have had one for a year now and have no issues at all. It keeps all our bikes neatly hanging in the garage. |
Question: | Can you tell me what height off the floor is best for a standard-sized bike? Do the hooks bind the spokes and damange them |
Answer: | The bike's top wheel extends a couple of inches above the bar, so the height really depends on how long your bike is and if you want some space below the bikes. I hung it at about 7', so I have some space below. As to the spokes, I didn't notice any damage on the spokes so far, but the rubber coating on a couple hooks has been torn, so I had create a DIY padding. |
Question: | If I want to get a bike in the middle, do I have to remove the other bikes to the left or right of it before accessing |
Answer: | No, you can remove a bike from the middle without removing the other bikes. |

User questions & answers
Question: | How snug do the arms fit in the bolt holes? Is there any play |
Answer: | I bought this years ago. Removed 1 holder and turned the remaining holder vertically and moved it higher up. Was then able to hang the bike vertically. Its works like new with no problem what so ever. Check with the manufacturer if this current model still allows for that. From the photo, I am guessing it will. |
Question: | how would you mount a girls bike on this stand |
Answer: | Very easy. May be more difficult for someone short trying to hang up a heavy bike. |
Question: | Does it have a vinyl coating? It is advertised on the box but not sure it will be true |
Answer: | Absolutely - This rack will also accommodate mountain bikes. The horizontal loading bar is over-sized to fit fat tire rims but it will easily hold a mountain bike rim as well. |
Question: | Will the bike on the top be taller than the top of the rack? My ceilings are only about 83 inches high in my basement where id like to install this |
Answer: | The anchors that came with it would only hold about 20lbs. I bought some different anchors to hold more weight. |
