11 best cycling mirrors

Cycling mirrors are accessories designed for bicycles and are related to outdoor recreation and sports, specifically cycling. These mirrors serve the essential function of providing cyclists with improved visibility of their surroundings, which enhances safety during rides. Here's what you need to know about cycling mirrors:

  1. Bike Mirrors: Cycling mirrors, often referred to as bike mirrors, are small reflective devices attached to a bicycle to give the rider a clear view of what's happening behind them. They are typically mounted on the handlebars, helmet, or eyeglasses.

  2. Accessories: Cycling mirrors are considered essential accessories for many cyclists, especially those who frequently ride on roads with traffic. These mirrors are designed to improve a cyclist's situational awareness by eliminating blind spots and allowing them to monitor approaching vehicles or other cyclists from behind.

  3. Cycling: Cycling mirrors are specifically tailored for use during cycling activities. They are commonly used by both recreational cyclists and commuters who rely on their bikes for transportation.

  4. Outdoor Recreation: Cycling is a popular outdoor recreational activity, and the safety and enjoyment of the ride are paramount. Cycling mirrors contribute to safety by helping cyclists make informed decisions about when to change lanes, merge with traffic, or turn, thus reducing the risk of accidents.

  5. Sports & Outdoors: Cycling is both a sport and an outdoor recreational activity, and cyclists often invest in specialized gear and accessories to enhance their performance and safety. Cycling mirrors are a prime example of such accessories, as they enhance a rider's awareness of their surroundings.

Cycling mirrors come in various designs and mounting options, catering to different preferences and cycling styles. Some common types of cycling mirrors include:

  • Handlebar-Mounted Mirrors: These mirrors are attached to the handlebars of the bicycle, typically on the end of the handlebar or near the grips. They provide a rearview reflection without requiring the cyclist to turn their head.

  • Helmet-Mounted Mirrors: Cyclists can affix these mirrors to their helmets. They offer the advantage of being adjustable to accommodate different viewing angles by moving the head.

  • Eyeglass-Mounted Mirrors: Some cyclists prefer mirrors that attach directly to their eyeglasses or sunglasses. These mirrors offer a discreet and lightweight option for improved visibility.

Cycling mirrors are particularly useful for road cyclists and commuters who need to navigate through traffic and make decisions based on the movement of vehicles and other cyclists behind them. By providing a clear view of the rear, these mirrors contribute to safer and more confident cycling experiences.

User questions & answers

Question: i want to wear this on my eye glasses when I walk. I have been caught off guard when people approach me from behind. I am assuming they will work
Answer: Put a piece of the velcro on your helmet. I put mine on the left side on the upper side of one of the vents. Then you can add the mirror and remove it when you don't need it. I use it on my road bike and then take it off when I ride my commuter bike that has its own mirror.
Question: What are the dimensions of the mirror itself
Answer: I have had no problem with the mirror falling out, it seems very solid. I have only had it for a month, and only ride streets and not rough trails. Hopefully that helps.
Question: compact or original size
Answer: Egg shape, 1" x 1.5". Picks up PLENTY of the view behind you. I love this mirror. Don't know how I rode without it before
Question: What should I see in the mirror when adjusted correctly? I have been unable to see things directly behind me that are far off
Answer: No it doesn't fold but it does twist up mostly out of the way.

User questions & answers

Question: Will this item fit a 2018 trek domane sl 5? i ordered a red sprinttec rearview mirror and the plug was too big for the dropbar hole
Answer: They're _NOT_ 13gB. They _ARE_ 25 gigabyte BD-R discs. That's the total capacity of each disc. The formatting and directories and such take up lots of space. Kind of like hard drives. But you should get _AT_LEAST_ well over 22Gigs on each disc. Perhaps your drive has a problem? Perhaps your software has a problem? I don't use Windows, but maybe it has a problem? Oh, maybe you're trying to copy 'protected' stuff to the disc.??? I've used dozens (plural) of these and dozens (plural) of other brand BD-R discs. And used them on two or three different brands of burners - no problems. One more thing, I usually direct my software to record at the SLOWEST speed. The 'maximum' speed of the blank discs is 6x. You might want to check the 'max' speed of your burner. I _never_ try to record stuff at high speed. Perhaps patience would help you?? I'm sure one (or more) of these suggestions will correct the anomalies you're experiencing. - - From 5000 feet above sea level in Albuquerque, NM
Question: Wont the view be blocked by the arms
Answer: yes you can store 25 - 27GB data on single sided disk. You can achieve 50 GB storage on two sided disk.
Question: Can these be installed into carbon fiber bars without risk of cracking the bar? Any users with carbon bars
Answer: These are HTL BD-R.
Question: do i need to remove the handle bar tape to install the mirror
Answer: You can definitely record movies on this 50GB capacity disc and then play back to your blu-ray player.

User questions & answers

Question: Will it fit on women's Giant comfort bike
Answer: It is designed to fit on large and small diameter handlebars. I have two bikes and it fits on both of them.
Question: Is the mirror made of glass or plastic? Is it convex or flat? The description states it's convex but reading some of the reviews indicate it is flat (not convex
Answer: This mirror is CONVEX, both in its physical shape and in its optics. This is written on July 6, 2018, and I am in full agreement with "downhiller"'s answer of January 30, 2016. For those of you who think this mirror is "flat", put the straight edge of a ruler across it - I guarantee you it is not flat, but CONVEX. If still in doubt, just look at your face and head in the mirror. If what you see is the true size of your head, then I will concede that the mirror is flat, and you have a small head.
Question: will it work on right or left side and i have canondale hybiide will it fit
Answer: It will work right or left side and comes with 2 adapters for large and small diameter holes. You will have to cut the ends of the grips to make work.
Question: Will it clamp over the end of the rubber handle grip at the end like in the picture? Or does it have to go on the bar? Wheres the handle rubber grip in the photo? I dont get it
Answer: As others have said, the mirror is attached to the INSIDE of the handlebar. You'll need to cut a hole in the end of the grip in order to install it. Slip the anchor bolt mechanism inside the handlebar, turn the screw to tighten, and you're done. Easy-peazy. Note: That's assuming the handlebar is hollow, like most bikes. In my case, installing in a Xiaomi M365 scooter, it doesn't work. The Xiaomi's handlebar is not hollow, it contains another tube for wiring. So, the Mirrcycle mirror doesn't fit in this instance.

Third Eye Eyeglass Bicycle Mirror

Third Eye

Product description

This mirror clips to the temple piece of most Eye Glasses and Dark glasses. The mirror is 1 1/8 inches in diameter. The mirror is real glass and is shatter proof.

  • Fully adjustable with unique ball-and-socket design
  • Installs in seconds and is vibration-free

User questions & answers

Question: how thick can the glasses temple (side) piece be
Answer: It handles 1/8" (slightly more than 2 millimeters) fine. You can do any thickness by taping the mirror to the glasses, reserving these glasses for bicycle use.
Question: I use rearview mirrors for social distancing. Can these be clipped to face shields
Answer: Interesting idea, I tried it on several industrial type shields and it would clip on to the transparent plastic shield. The good news ends there. The mirror is designed to be on your glasses. It is close to your face thus what is behind you is large enough to discern details behind you. The plastic shield is too far from your eye to be useful and too far to the side to view . A medical shield may be smaller but will probably suffer from the same problems. Nice idea though. If you ride a bike it is very useful.
Question: can this mirror be clipped to a baseball cap? (not glasses or helmet
Answer: Brad, yes the Third Eye Mirror is easy to attach and can slide onto a baseball cap. You can find our selection here: http://www.cyclocamping.com/search.aspI have also included a video for your review in regards to how you could clip the mirror on your cap: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2Op5lJp5gOoLori HCustomer Service, CycloCamping.com
Question: I'm thinking that with ultra light thin frames, these will not stay put and be constantly falling. Am I right
Answer: I think the only glasses these might not work on would be ones with a round "arm" as they could rotate, but these work with every pair of glasses I own - from thin frames to more heavy duty sunglasses.

  • Mirror Style: Handlebar

User questions & answers

Question: what diameter bars does this fit? I am looking to install on chinese scooter
Answer: Not sure what the diameter is. It does come with sizers that would fit a variety of handlebars. I am guessing there should be something that would work for a scooter.
Question: how do ya install this bar end mirror
Answer: In my case my bicycle handlebars have a hole at the end which was covered by a thick plastic. What I did was to pierced that plastic and stuck inside the bar of the mirror and adjusted it with its screw. I hope my explanation is clear since English is not my native language. Good luck!
Question: does it work on straight handlebars with additional bar extension
Answer: It will work if your bar ends clamp onto the handlebar. As long as you can insert the mirror into the hole in the handlebar, it will work. If your bar ends insert into the hole into the handlebar, then this mirror will not fit as the mirror needs to insert into the hole at in the handlebar.
Question: The answer to the question of "is the mirror convex?" is no but in the description it says that it is built to be so. is it or is it not
Answer: It is Convex ! I hate convex mirrors but this one has a slight convex to it. For the flatlanders, take a straightedge and lay it on the mirror. Then you can see the curve. This not the same as cheap convex mirrors. So you could say it is both. Flat enough to be considered flat and convex enough to be considered convex.

Question: Is the mirror made from glass or plastic
Answer: It is just a pad with attached blanket. Not a solid bed.
Question: Can I install this without removing handlebar grip
Answer: Hi there - thank you for reaching out! Yes, our Wildkin Modern Nap Mat comes with a removable pillow that measure 10.3 x 2.5 x 8 Inches. We also sell just the replacement pillow when you are looking to refresh your Nap Mat or want another one handy just in case. Question: convex mirror or flat mirror
Answer: The pillow is 8 1/2 x 10 1/2, so you would be folding it around the pillow. It depends on how large the cubby is, really. It can be folded into a rectangular shape around the pillow, but I feel like from the cubbies I've seen in preschools, it would be too big for the cubby.
