Question:	With the rain fly on is there any cross ventilation? Looks like not which means it would get very hot inside during a warm weather rain
Answer:	It handled the wind and heavy rain storm a few weeks ago while camping just fine. Use all the stakes and tie downs and it will preform like a champ! Set up is easy with another person...by yourself it could be tough but I haven't given that a try. Hope that helps!

Question:	Does this come with taped seems
Answer:	With the proper bit you can drill into anything. Getting it on the table and under the head is the trick.
Question:	are the zippers two-way
Answer:	I would recommend that you go to the WEN website and download the manual. Look on page 9 as it shows how to assemble the part you're talking about. Can't really recommend you do what you're talking about as any time you use a piece of equipment for a purpose other than intended you're doing so at your own risk and you can forget about any warranties for the product. But, if you want to proceed anyway check the manual and press on if you think it will work.
Question:	Does this tent have a gear loft and/or pockets
Answer:	No, it does not come with any drill bits. However, it is a quality drill press and I have been very satisfied with it.
Question:	I live in Florida where it rains a lot. How waterproof is this? Also condensation issues
Answer:	do not know. I keep getting the 2014 version. After spending hours on end with customer service. No "T" anywhere. Only in header does it mention 2019 model. Manual reads "2015 Model 4210". Sticker on machine reads "Model 4210". I keep looking for the elusive "T". Beginning to think I need eyeglasses or that everyone is right and I am wrong.

Answer:	It has a taper. The 2 person is 4' 2" at one end and 3' 10" at the other end. The 3 person is 5' 10" at one end and 5' 3" at the other

Answer:	I have the two person and its just me. Plenty of room for me and all my gear. If I added another person, they would be no gear room. It does have a flap on the outside, but it wouldn't stay dry if you had much. Amazing tent though. Love it. I have used it in all seasons and many miles.
Question:	Why does the 3 person tent weigh around 6lbs, while the 4 person tent jumps to 10lbs even though it's only slightly bigger
Answer:	It does not have the "Stargazing Fly" like the Night Owl or the Dirt Motel, but it has a traditional fly attachment so you can always secure the fly to one end and roll the fly back so you can see through the mesh on the top. That way it will be easy to secure if it does begin to rain.

Selecting a Tent

Fortunately, there are all kinds of tents for weekend car campers, Everest expeditions, and everything in-between. Here are a few things to keep in mind:

Expect the Worst

In general, it's wise to choose a tent that's designed to withstand the worst possible conditions you think you'll face. For instance, if you're a summer car camper in a region where weather is predictable, an inexpensive family or all purpose tent will likely do the trick--especially if a vehicle is nearby and you can make a mad dash for safety when bad weather swoops in! If you're a backpacker, alpine climber or bike explorer, or if you like to car camp in all seasons, you'll want to take something designed to handle more adversity.

Three- and Four-Season Tents

For summer, early fall and late spring outings, choose a three-season tent. At minimum, a quality three season tent will have lightweight aluminum poles, a reinforced floor, durable stitching, and a quality rain-fly. Some three-season tents offer more open-air netting and are more specifically designed for summer backpacking and other activities. Many premium tents will feature pre-sealed, taped seams and a silicone-impregnated rain-fly for enhanced waterproofness.

For winter camping or alpine travel, go with a four season model. Because they typically feature more durable fabric coatings, as well as more poles, four-season tents are designed to handle heavy snowfall and high winds without collapsing. Of course, four-season tents exact a weight penalty of about 10 to 20 percent in trade for their strength and durability. They also tend to be more expensive.

Domes and Tunnels

Tents are broadly categorized into two types, freestanding, which can stand up on their own, and those that must be staked down in order to stand upright. Freestanding tents often incorporate a dome-shaped design, and most four-season tents are constructed this way because a dome leaves no flat spots on the outer surface where snow can collect. Domes are also inherently stronger than any other design. Meanwhile, many three-season models employ a modified dome configuration called a tunnel. These are still freestanding, but they require fewer poles than a dome, use less fabric, and typically have a rectangular floor-plan that offers less storage space than a dome configuration. Many one and two-person tents are not freestanding, but they make up for it by being more lightweight. Because they use fewer poles, they can also be quicker to set up than a dome.

Size Matters

Ask yourself how many people you'd like to fit in your fabric hotel now and in the future. For soloists and minimalists, check out one-person tents. If you're a mega-minimalist, or if you have your eye on doing some big wall climbs, a waterproof-breathable bivy sack is the ticket. Some bivy sacks feature poles and stake points to give you a little more breathing room. Also, if you don't need bug protection and you want to save weight, check out open-air shelters.

Families who plan on car camping in good weather can choose from a wide range of jumbo-sized tents that will accommodate all your little ones with room to spare. A wide range of capacities is also available for three- and four-season backpacking and expedition tents. Remember, though, the bigger the tent you buy, the heavier it will be, although it's easy to break up the tent components among several people in your group. It's also helpful to compare the volume and floor-space measurements of models you're considering.

Answer:	The tent comes with a rain fly. If you want a ground cloth/tent footprint to protect the tent’s floor you will need to purchase that separately.
Question:	is it 4 season tent
Answer:	The 4 person Night Owl is quite a bit larger than the 3-person. It’s almost 10 sq. ft larger in footprint, but even more, it is 19” Taller than the 3-person. That means there is significantly more material being used, both on the tent body and the tent fly. To keep the design structurally stable, the pole-set diameter also goes from 9mm-9.5mm on the 3-person up to 13mm on the 4-person which makes the pole-set a fair bit heavier as well.

Question:	Can you stargaze with this tent
Answer:	That must be a misprint, because the pack weight of the tent (taking it in the field) is about 7lbs 8ounces I believe. So the ship weight can't be 3lbs!
Question:	Can this tent fit in a backpack? Can you recommend a backpack for this tent
Answer:	The bottom is waterproofed so for sure you can use it all 4 seasons. BTW ..one night it rained so bad that I felt like I was sleeping on a waterbed - but nothing got inside. Just do your best to protect the bottom from cuts or even small punctures and you'll be fine.
Question:	Can someone post actual weight of tent , rain fly
Answer:	Holds up well. I camped overnight on the a North Rim of the Grand Canyon and a front moved in with sustained 30 MPH winds. Tent handled it well. NOTE: it is a 3-season tent with the tent itself being mostly netting, so if it is a cold wind, it will get under the fly and into the tent a bit. My only dislike so far is the zipper. It runs in an “L” shape and no matter what you do it gets hung up and you have to use both hands to clear where it makes the turn.
Question:	How small can it pack down? Without stuff sack and poles? Just the max packed size. Thanks

Answer:	The Late Start tent does not have the "Stargazer" fly system like the Night Owl and the Dirt Motel series have. The fly attaches with an easy-to-use pocket system instead of the traditional clip system.

Answer:	It fits great in the right backpack! I suggest at least a 50 liter backpack.

Answer:	The packed weight for the Late Start 1 is 3 lbs 12 oz (1.7 kg), Late Start 2 is 4 lbs 8 oz (2.04 kg), and Late Start 4 is 6 lbs 14 oz (3.12 kg). The packed weight includes the poles and stuff sack. We don't have specs on just the weight of the tent body and rain fly without the stuff sack and poles.
Question:	What is the actual carry weight of this tent- dimensions say 1 lb but shipping weight says 5lbs

Answer:	The footprint is an additional tarp that fits under the tent for additional protection of the floor. You do not have to use it.

Answer:	If you have smaller dogs and they sleep with you and do not shove you out of bed at home then the 3 person will work. If your dogs are bigger and take over the bed at home then a 4 person tent will probably be required.

Answer:	After removing all the guy lines and swapping out for lighter stakes, I still had a weight of 4 lbs 10 ounces. Tent is very high quality, was roomy enough for me, but was a little heavier than I was expecting. The stuff sack that come with it is heavy. I suppose you could change to a different stuff sack and save some weight. All in all though, very satisfied.

Answer:	The Tallboy is not a 4 season tent. In order for a tent to be considered a 4 season tent it mush have an aluminum frame. The Tallboy is a fiberglass frame so it is a 3 season tent. A 4 season version of a 6 person tent that Kelty does not offer an aluminum pole 6 person tent. Better to look at a Eureka Space Camp 6 or a Big Agnes Bighouse 6

So my guess is that he must have started to get cold on one of his camping trips. He also mentioned to me one day that if a sleeping bag for example says 20 to 40 degrees. 40 degrees is where you are comfortable but you can stay alive at 20 degrees
