User questions & answers
Question: | how's it do in heavy wind |
Answer: | There is a floor mat that extends out from the interior of the tent where the folding chairs can be placed and would be okay. However, if you are wanting the chairs to be in the interior of the tent then I would say NO. The inside space would not be large enough to fit two adults in camping chairs comfortably. |
Question: | wouldthis be large enough for two people to sit on camp folding chairs |
Answer: | Its super light and sturdy too. Tried it this weekend in pensacola beach. Looked very smart n took 8 mins to setup. Excellent shade. |
Question: | What does it weigh ? i.e. Is it good for beach vacations where all the umbrellas are taken |
Answer: | No, not twist and pop up, but slide the poles down and in to the slots and its done. Super fast setup. |
Question: | is this the pop up one |
Answer: | There’s a video on the product page showing how to fold it. It’s very helpful. |

User questions & answers
Question: | waterproof |
Answer: | Yes, very waterproof. My husband used it to go deer hunting in a downpour, so it was a good test of the waterproofing. He discovered it is a summer tent, with great ventilation, which he didn't want in a winter storm. It was barely large enough for him or two smaller children. It sets up easily too. |
Question: | shipping |
Answer: | You could set it up on a ship. Make sure to wear your flippie floppies while doing so. |
Question: | Can you ship to Paris? how much will it dust |
Answer: | I live in an arid region in the Caribbean and I ordered this tent in 2016, 4 years ago. I just opened it again last night for the first time in years and set it up in my lockdown back garden which is on the ground (more like sand here on the equator) to have a spontaneous outside camping night. Well next to being virtually in a new bought state with no discoloration, or time induced damage the tent was virtually dustless .. I can know as I have severe allergies and hayfever. I swear it also rooted the weeds that were growing and sweeped the back porch clean of dust&sand too. exiting the tent I felt like I freshly showered and my clothes were folded too! Highly recommended |
Question: | rain |
Answer: | 🎼🎶Who Stopped The Rain🎶🎼???? SUNDOME DID!!! |

About Coleman
More than 100 years ago, a young man with an entrepreneurial spirit and a better idea began manufacturing lanterns in Wichita, Kansas. His name was W.C. Coleman, and the company he founded would change life in America. A man plagued with such poor vision he sometimes had to ask classmates to read aloud to him, Coleman saw a brilliant light in 1900 in a drugstore window that stopped him in his tracks. He inquired about the light inside and discovered he was able to read even the small print on a medicine bottle by the illumination. The lamps had mantles, not wicks, and were fueled by gasoline under pressure instead of coal oil. Soon afterward, Coleman started a lighting service that offered a "no light, no pay" clause--a big step forward for merchants who were burned by inferior products that rarely worked--and drew substantial interest from businesses that wanted to keep their lights on after dark. In the ensuing years, Coleman expanded its product line well beyond lanterns. The company's current catalog is thick with products that make spending time outdoors a pleasure. There are coolers that keep food and drinks cold for days on end, comfortable airbeds that won't deflate during the night, a complete line of LED lights that last for years, powerful portable grills that cook with an authentic open-grill flame, and much, much more. Coleman has truly fashioned much of our outdoor camping experience, and expects to do so for generations to come.

User questions & answers
Question: | Can it be used with just the four legs, or are the stakes necessary? I want to put it on a concrete patio. (I was going to buy weights, as well |
Answer: | You will want to use staked. The wind will just carry it away. I didn't like this model. Lasted one season and it tore. It was hard to set up too. I converted to the Coleman dome 12X12. |
Question: | how does it hold up in heavy wind |
Answer: | I have had my original Coleman 13x13 for at least 6 years, and had it up in approximately 30 mph winds. I had staked it well, and it held up fine! I am convinced the canopy vent keeps it from flying away in the wind. I am purchasing my second canopy to cover the other half of my patio for a BBQ party. |
Question: | Does this canopy hold up well at the beach? We will be on an island and the windy is very gusty at times |
Answer: | Had it in use on a Florida beach for several years with no issues. Bury each leg in the sand one foot deep (lower sure, but still very comfortable) and then I drilled each leg another foot up each leg and added a sandbag that my wife made if needed - just weren’t very often. Awesome tent, heavy, but if you want it to stand up to wind that’s what it takes. |
Question: | Does the roof vent actually help it to feel cooler under the canopy |
Answer: | Yes, in a side by side comparison, this canopy feels cooler. Also like others have said, it allows wind to go through it instead of taking off like a sail. Another great feature is that we have camped in the rain and were able to place the canopy over a fire pit (with a modest fire) and stay warm and dry while the smoke was able to escape through the vent |

User questions & answers
Question: | Can you get parts for it |
Answer: | I don't see why not. It is marketed as an aromatherapy item. The vinegar alcohol should cut the orange oiliness if there is any. The smell really is delightful! |
Question: | Can you leave the cover on when you take it down |
Answer: | Yes, I do. It tastes so good in my GREEN smoothies! As long as it is ORGANIC and it is. |
Question: | Need replacement top for this Coleman 12' x 12' instant canopy. Who sells it |
Answer: | Yes! Some of my favorite NOW oils are lemon, lavender, eucalyptus and tea tree. |
Question: | Do you have to take off the canopy when storing it in the bag |
Answer: | Yes, but not your traditional dropper. The bottle has one fitted into the top of the bottle when you remove the cap, similar to a lotion bottle that you squeeze. |

User questions & answers
Question: | Does the screened in portion of the tent have the zip up flaps (both sides and the back window |
Answer: | The screen room and the back panel do not have zip up closures, but the two side windows do |
Question: | Can this accommodate a cot |
Answer: | The 4 person will accommodate 2 cots, but touches the tent on both ends due to the tapering of the tent. The dimensions are measured at floor level. The gear storage bags will hang on top of you while sleeping on the cot and can feel a little claustrophobic at times. I would recommend the 6 person size to comfortably accommodate 2 cots. |
Question: | I am 5'6" tall and wondered if I can stand up inside the tent |
Answer: | It depends on which tent you're inquiring about. All are included in this Q&A section. 4-person is about 4'11" center height, which is as tall as I am; 6-person is 6' center height. |
Question: | How does one keep the screened area from collecting rain water |
Answer: | Hello, user of this tent here during a rainy weekend. It doesn't - there's a netting between the main tent floor and the porch area to drain the water, but rainwater ends up pooling on the porch tarp anyways because unless you pitch the porch leaning down on a hill, there's no way to make the water actually flow outward. The only way you'd avoid this is if you poked holes in the porch, or brought along one of those shower mats that have the holes in them. For me, this resulted in an eternal puddle that never ended up drying, and a muddy and filthy porch area after camping. Furthermore, the screened in area isn't...actually screened in. There are two 6 inch gaps on the corners between the tent and porch for passing a cable through that don't have zippers, which means that not only is it not actually insect proof, but you also can't leave the tent door unzipped to get additional ventilation from the porch because the holes will let mosquitos in. The porch area is the exact opposite of a selling point in this scenario... |

User questions & answers
Question: | how long does it take 2 adults to set it up |
Answer: | I compared specs on the Coleman website. The only difference is floor vents for ventilation, auto-roll windows, and led lighting. They are the same height in the center by the way, 6ft 2in. |
Question: | What is the difference between the Elite and "regular" Coleman Montana Tent |
Answer: | Hi, To tell you the truth, I'm not sure. We put it up in the back yard to test as is, and it could not handle light rain. We have another Coleman with a steeper slope, and so the water flows off the rain-fly before it can wick through the material (It stood up to a downpour last night). Any of these tents where you have a flat rain-fly above a screen, I believe you will have this problem. I suppose you could spray the entire rainfly with the waterproofing spray recommended for the seams? I'm not sure how much this would cost though. We are likely to go for the Coleman Evanston 8 (non-screen porch version). The only part of the rainfly that is flat is the front overhang above the ground. There is a good 3-star review under the Coleman Evanston 8 by Jeff042479 which describes the waterproofing process for these Coleman tents.Hope that helps. Good luck. |
Question: | Since the main gripe has to do with weatherproofing on this tent...is there a way to prep the rain fly to keep it dry inside |
Answer: | I have this tent and can verify that it works well in Montana (where I live). I have never camped in Ohio but if you make sure the door is facing north towards MT, you should be fine. 😉 |
Question: | will this tent work in ohio or just montana |
Answer: | Blades are connected to the fan. I think supposed to be loose because it is battery operated. I brought two for my aunt, when a/c was out. She loves them. |

User questions & answers
Question: | how big is it when packed up in the bag |
Answer: | If you don't expand the bag, the tent packed inside the bag is 47" x 10" x 9" |
Question: | It's not waterproof ok, what about dust in a desert environment? would the inside be full of dust after a week |
Answer: | If you were to keep the zipper windows closed you would have a sauna. The tent is not torrential rain proof, but it is waterproof and that goes for inside as well as out. |
Question: | When did Coleman start selling tents without rain fly's |
Answer: | The tent has an integrated rain fly. There's a video on the Coleman site that shows it performing. For me though, I'd buy the optional rain fly accessory for added protection and ventilation. |
Question: | can this be set up inside |
Answer: | This has been the best tent ever!!! As long as you have the space to set it up in it can go anywhere you want it too. My Boyfriend and I have been camping for over 20 years and this is the best tent we have ever had :) |

User questions & answers
Question: | Does this tent have (and can you describe) an electric cord entrance |
Answer: | Im not sure I understand the question but I will try to answer it anyway. The tent has a channel(fabric) that runs from the door switch to the light in the top middle of the tent. It also has a channel that goes down the back of the tent that has the cord that goes to the battery. |
Question: | Hi, I was wondering if this tent is big enough to fit 4 single cots? if so, would there be room left over? thank u |
Answer: | I think it would fit 4 small cots around the edges and still be able to walk in the center. Base is 14x10 so measure your cots to know for sure. I had a huge cot, table, large ice chest and food and clothing bins for 30 days of geologic field work and there was room left over. Tent worked out great and stood up to abusive wind and rain. |
Question: | Can one person set this up easily? Or must it take two |
Answer: | I would have to say that it is much easier with 2 people, but I have set it up by myself. It takes about 10 minutes to set up with 2 people and it took 30 minutes by myself. |
Question: | Does this have a rain cover |
Answer: | Yes comes with rain fly. Had to use and held up great. |

Answer: | yes by the door. |
Question: | do all the 6 person tents leak |
Answer: | Yes it has ventilation... mesh/screen over almost the entire top. You also get the rain canvass for the top. |
Question: | does this rainfly really take 1 to 2 months to ship???? If so it should not be an "amazon prime" item |
Answer: | I gotta say i love the answers. But whoever this is that asked if you can fit 27 people in a 16 person tent, come on, really???? The maximum number of sleeping occupants is based off how many people can sleep in the tent using 3 people per queen sized mattress, the most common size air mattress to use in a tent. So unless you've got like 5 or 6 people per mattress, which will pop the mattress, there's no way you're fitting even 20 people in the tent. Read the description. |

Question: | I had a lot of trouble getting the legs to lock. They would not extend fully into the locks with all legs extended. Is there a trick to this |
Answer: | This is 4 fl. oz. |
Question: | Do the sides slope more than the 10x10 version |
Answer: | The thing says 1 oz pkg of 2 so I assume it's two bottles each 1 oz. The bottle I bought didn't come in a pkg of two. Sorry I'm not more help! |
Question: | Can this tent be used at the beach? Is there a way to keep it anchored in the sand |
Answer: | And I saw the previous answer...the bottle says not to consume it....and I did independant research-highly recommended-and all reputable sources say dont eat it |
Question: | does a standard size wooden picnic table fit in it |
Answer: | Wow...I just did some research for you. NOW Orange essential oil is cold pressed from the Non-GMO orange peal. So there you go, it's natural and edible. As far as mixing it with water. Didn't anyone ever tell you that oil and water don't mix. The oil will float on top of the water. You can probable take with the dropper and use the water as a chaser, or mayby oj would be better. |

User questions & answers
Question: | can it be adjusted to different heights |
Answer: | It's complicated to break down, definitely not a child's task. |
Question: | does this work on a blacktop or only on dirt |
Answer: | It will probably fit but take up the entire space. There is lots of room. I have used a single and had room for a small table, backpack and large cooler |
Question: | can one person set this up |
Answer: | Not that I am aware of |
Question: | Does this canopy come with a storage bag with wheels |
Answer: | This is not a back packing or hiking tent. It doesn't break down very small at all. About a 4 foot circle to be exact. |

User questions & answers
Question: | Is there anyplace to hang a lantern inside the tent |
Answer: | It has one front roll side ways door as shown in the pictures in the sale info. |
Question: | How many doors does this tent have |
Answer: | I would recommend using stakes to secure it in place and the tent does come with some. If you intend to use somewhere with strong winds / weather you probably would want to purchase stronger stakes. |
Question: | Does it need stakes to set and secure |
Answer: | I think you need it. I used it near the california coast and it wasnt raining but it was covered in dew every morning and I think the rainfly was necessary. |
Question: | Is this waterproof, or do you need a rainfly |
Answer: | It took my wife and I less then 1/2 hour to set it but longer to get it finally done maybe 15 minutes. |

User questions & answers
Question: | Does this fit a coleman montana 8 person tent |
Answer: | I think you can have the tent alone without the canopy. In other words, I do not think you have to connect the two together. Ozark does make some 4 person tents also. |
Question: | there are no post on the package |
Answer: | I do a lot of remote camping and I had no problems running with a canopy. I ran a 550 cord from one tree to another for the top and used the more for the bottom of the tent and staked it down really good and used a couple of extra guidelines and it works about the same only issue I had was a bobcat sniffing around our camp site |
Question: | does this help with decreasing the sunlight going through inside the tent |
Answer: | The tent works by attaching elastic tethers to the sides and top of the canopy. It is made for a 10' side. It will work with a 12' canopy by extending the tethers on one or both sides with a bungee cord, rope, etc. You will only have to decide if you want it centered or to one side, since the canopy side will be 2 feet longer than the tent. |
Question: | Does it fit to Coleman Instant Cabin (8 person |
Answer: | No. That picture demonstrates what can be done. It includes only one 4-person tent that clips onto a canopy that you already own or can purchase separately. |
