User questions & answers
Question: | Does the weatherproof top come with the tent |
Answer: | It does but it's only good for short storms. It even handled some light hail one day. We did on the other hand, used it during an all day rain event and we got very wet inside. It can leak from my experience. It is a nice and roomy tent but I recommend using some waterproof sealer on the rain fly.Chris |
Question: | does it have floor |
Answer: | as a matter of fact, it has a bathtub bottom floor. That means, the seams are not on the ground where moisture could possible get in. |
Question: | Does the screen porch also include walls that can be sipped up to prevent rain blowing in |
Answer: | Yes, the screens can be zipped up like the other windows in the tent, to stop rain or to allow people to sleep in that area too. |
Question: | does the screen room have a floor in it |
Answer: | Yes, it has a floor. It is the floor continued from the main room. I really liked this tent. The screen room is nice just not as tall as the main room. |

Selecting a Tent
Fortunately, there are all kinds of tents for weekend car campers, Everest expeditions, and everything in-between. Here are a few things to keep in mind:
Expect the Worst
In general, it's wise to choose a tent that's designed to withstand the worst possible conditions you think you'll face. For instance, if you're a summer car camper in a region where weather is predictable, an inexpensive family or all-purpose tent will likely do the trick--especially if a vehicle is nearby and you can make a mad dash for safety when bad weather swoops in. If you're a backpacker, alpine climber, or bike explorer, or if you like to car camp in all seasons, you'll want to buy something designed to handle more adversity.
Three- and Four-Season Tents
For summer, early fall, and late spring outings, choose a three-season tent. At minimum, a quality three-season tent will have lightweight aluminum poles, a reinforced floor, durable stitching, and a quality rain fly. Some three-season tents offer more open-air netting and are specifically designed for summer backpacking or other activities. Many premium tents will also feature pre-sealed, taped seams and a silicone-impregnated rain fly for enhanced waterproofing.
For winter camping or alpine travel, go with a four-season model. Because they typically feature more durable fabric coatings, as well as more poles, four-season tents are designed to handle heavy snowfall and high winds without collapsing. Of course, four-season tents exact a weight penalty of about 10 to 20 percent in trade for their strength and durability. They also tend to be more expensive.
Domes and Tunnels
Tents are broadly categorized into two types: freestanding, which can stand up on their own, and tents that must be staked down in order to stand upright. Freestanding tents often incorporate a dome-shaped design, and most four-season tents are constructed this way because a dome leaves no flat spots on the outer surface where snow can collect. Domes are also inherently stronger than any other design. Meanwhile, many three-season models employ a modified dome configuration called a tunnel. These are still freestanding, but they require fewer poles than a dome, use less fabric, and typically have a rectangular floorplan that offers less storage space than a dome configuration. Many one and two-person tents are not freestanding, but they make up for it by being lighter. Because they use fewer poles, they can also be quicker to set up than a dome.
Size Matters
Ask yourself how many people you'd like to fit in your fabric hotel now and in the future. For soloists and minimalists, check out one-person tents. If you're a mega-minimalist, or if you have your eye on doing some big wall climbs, a waterproof-breathable bivy sack is the ticket. Some bivy sacks feature poles and stake points to give you a little more breathing room. Also, if you don't need bug protection and you want to save weight, check out open-air shelters.
Families who plan on car camping in good weather can choose from a wide range of jumbo-sized tents that will accommodate all your little ones with room to spare. A wide range of capacities is available for three- and four-season backpacking and expedition tents. Remember, though, the bigger the tent you buy, the heavier it will be, although it's easy to break up the tent components among several people in your group. It's also helpful to compare the volume and floor-space measurements of models you're considering.
- 3-person, 3-pole pentadome tent with removable fly
- Shock-corded fiberglass frame for quick and easy setup
- Integrated mud mat with drainage strip to keep tent clean

Question: | Could this be used for Cold Weather |
Answer: | Hi, the poncho can still fit as you can see it can even cover someone with a backpack. However the length may only cover slightly above the knee and the sleeve may not be able to cover to the wrist. So the important parts of the body is still well cover. Hope it helps in your decision making :) |

Answer: | Yes |
Question: | Does this tent include stakes |
Answer: | 5’4”, absolutely. We have try it on someone who is that size before and it will work nicely. |
Question: | Does thnt require a footprint? I guess, better stated, is the floor nylon material like the tent, or is it more like a thicker woven plastic material |

Question: | Can this tent be set up by one person |
Answer: | No its not fast....it's a big tent...and takes 2 people...well...I did it by myself a few times...but easier with 2....but once up...it's a great tent.. |
Question: | is Wenzel comparable in quality to Coleman? Or better/worse? They seem to fall in the same price point and I can't decide. Thanks |
Answer: | it is about the size of a Pack N' Play or a set of golf clubs. However, I returned the tent right away. The zipper broke the first time we set it up. I recommend the Eureka Copper Canyon instead. |
Question: | How small is it when packed in carrying case |
Answer: | Yes, it has a middle divider that is attached to it. When left open, it rolls up a secures to the sides. |
Question: | Is this a stand alone tent, or does it need to be anchored to be fully set up? Thanks for your help |
Answer: | Yes. However, upon opening and setting up our tent for the first time we noticed on two ceiling panels there was a long line of mesh that was separated and had wider gaps than the rest of the mesh around it. I had to buy clear mesh tape to fix it. |

User questions & answers
Question: | Will a king size bed fit in the cabin? We are “glamping” for five months and need a tent big enough and waterproof enough to not ruin our mattress |
Answer: | Hello, thank you for your interest in CORE! A standard king size mattress (76" x 80") will be able to fit. We recommend placing a rubber mat underneath the mattress to prevent it from sliding and damaging the tent floor and a footprint the size of the tent to not allow water to gather. We, also, recommend to use a water sealant for added protection. ~CORE Customer Service |
Question: | can the fabric be treated with spray water proofer |

Question: | What are the dimensions of the main room and the screened room |
Answer: | The main room measures at 12' x 10'. The screen room measures at 8' (front) x 9' (back) x 7' (width). |

User questions & answers
Question: | What is the height? One comment says 6' and another one says 7'. Thanks |
Answer: | It 7 feets |
Question: | Cam this smart deshade stand alone as its own unit and is everything with it to put it up |
Answer: | No. Must have 10 x 10 canopy frame. |
Question: | will this work for the 10x15 smartshade canopy ? if so how many are needed to cover it all the way around |
Answer: | You could probably modify two of these to fit your Smartshade Wenzel I assume canopy. But frankly I would look to see if you could find one that fits your size canopy and not go through all that work and fuss. Unless you are like us and we do tend to take on such challenges sometimes wondering why we would do that to ourselves. But most of the time in the end it all works out well. You would need to sew as well as take side seams apart to re-connect to other ends of pieces you removed. And I'm guessing here but that would make some of the areas you need velcro to match up with the canopy frame/cover miss matched. You could figure out where you need to add and sew new strips of the right loop or hook velcro onto the canopy and or the screen top edge to match up then. But there would be a lot of fiddle work involved. I also love the self wrapping velcro so much so I bought 25 yard rolls of two and one inch in black of both. It's fantastic stuff and you don't need to stick with Velcro brand the non brand seems to be pretty much as good. Anyway for our needs we can get by with velcro bands of the self wrap around the frame just where we need some hook to fit match up with the loop patches on the top of this screen. Later we will sew on said matching patches of hook velcro to the tent canopy which will make it a bit tighter and taught to keep out pesty insects. We have a lot of industrial and outdoor gear making background as well as a lot of equipment and materials needed to get the job done. So if you are that kind of person...then take the challenge. I would let the door remain off centered so 5 feet in from one side and really you could add a third door depending on how you took apart the seams both and re-connected the panels. You can do the math yourself and realize for a 10 by 15 you would need two 15 foot walls and two 10 foot length walls. Putting two together would leave you with some left overs. And if it was a ten by 20 canopy you would still have left overs with two because two center walls would be removed setting two side by side so to speak and that would leave you with four doors. In the case of a 15 foot size canopy you can select to put an extra zipper easily enough on another end so you could have three doors if you would like or need. Or not since what you'll need to do is open one corner seam up and then cut off approx 5 feet on one of the ends to sew into the same on the second. This keeps the white corners going around outside of the poles then. Now adjust the second screen to finish wrapping around and meeting up with the first screen. What you basically are doing is cutting out one half plus one wall all the way around to meld two together. This will leave you with screen material left over for possible repairs on down the line. If you were doing a 10 by 20 canopy you would still have two sides left over because you would be taking out the two center 10 foot walls....it's like that only five feet shorter on each end. So you should end up with two side walls plus to half sides. But there are several possible ways to doing this...and that includes adding in a third door so there are options as to the design of the way you might have doors end up. Good luck...but check at the Wenzel site on line to see if they sell the screen for your smartshade canopy unless you like the idea of this challenge. |
Question: | what are the measurements (for what size canopy |
Answer: | 10x10. We added them to our 10x20 outdoor room. Bought 2 of them. |
