Answer:	No, it is mylar with a reflective coating. The mylar alone--a plastic--might be recyclable depending on your area, but the reflective surface renders it non-recyclable. Better to reuse or repurpose it if no longer functional, e.g., cut a section to size as a ground tarp, waterproof liner for a backpack, etc.
Question:	What (easy) knot would be appropriate for tying this to a tree
Answer:	A two half hitch knot on one end that keeps it secure to one tree. The other side should be a taut line hitch knot, as it is adjustable and can pull the slack "taut". Most rope/lines will stretch a little bit after installation and the tent will sag. The taut line will allow you to address that and easily snug it up again.
Question:	How does it hold the heat in if both ends are open
Answer:	It doesn't hold heat, it reflects it. It prevents heat from being lost to wind, and more importantly water (rain, sleet, snow). It wil not hold heat, it will slow down heat loss by using the heat you produce and reflecting it back on you. It is meant to keep you from becoming hypothermic if stuck outdoors overnight. You can produce your own heat (eat and digest food, make a fire, boil water), but if your day hike goes bad and you are stuck out overnight, this is an emergency shelter. Set it up in a sheltered area to prevent wind from blowing through the ends.

Answer:	No, mattress should be used below the bag

Answer:	I've used mine only once and it was not in rainy weather. Didn't have trouble with perspiration but maybe that was because of the good weather. IN general, I think that if you use the little aluminum tent poles and have sort of a tiny tent over your head and leave your head far enough out so you're not breathing inside the bag you won't have much condensation.
Question:	is this bivvy moisture-wicking
Answer:	I'm increasingly finding vendors selling gear here on Amazon and posting nonsensical dimensions information. Makes one wonder why and how they are still in business if they don't pay attention to details. I recently pointed out that a full sized tent was listed as being 1"x1"x1", and got a reply from the seller explaining that the dimension is, in fact, 1"x1"x1" ... he didn't use his brain one bit. Totally bizarre.

Answer:	It is made of some thin fabric coated in mylar. It is completely flat and provides absolutely no insulation. However, if you are wearing warm pants and a jacket to sleep in and are on a sleeping pad you can sleep in very cold weather. It is a viable replacement for a sleeping bag.

Answer:	I consuled an expert in the field and he told me that any enclosed area can be hotboxed if you're determined enough. It does have a rain guard that fits pretty tightly so it seals pretty well. Just be careful, the better it hotboxes the better it dutch ovens. Be safe out there.

Answer:	If you freeze camping you need a warmer bag or more likely a warmer sleeping pad. A good sleeping pad will do more for warmth than any other piece of equipment. You can also add a sleeping bag liner, Alps makes an inexpensive one. A liner can add 5 to 10 degrees to your bags rating. You either sleep cold or warm when sleeping outdoors; if you are warm in a 35 degree bag when it's 35 degrees outside you sleep warm. Woman sleep colder than Men. A 20 degree bag for a Man might be comfortable for a Woman down to only 35. If you sleep cold and you expect to be in 35 degree weather, get a 20 degree bag and a pad with an r-value of 3.2 or above.

Answer:	My personal answer is no way. 2 very skinny and exceptionally friendly people, perhaps. I carry a Texsport Saguaro in my sea kayak as an emergency bivy shelter and it serves that role very well. At these prices you could each have your own tent.

Answer:	The Tact Bivvy is 7' by 3', in the stuffsack it is 4" x 2.5".

Answer:	It is a mylar emergency blanket in the shape of a sleeping bag. It is for emergencies, not in place of our addition to a sleeping bag.

Answer:	It is mylar, and mylar does make some sound when moving around on it. But mylar is absolutely the best emergency blanket/bivy material there is. Not something to use instead of a sleeping bag for camping, but the best thing you can keep around for emergencies.
Question:	Whilst I like the idea of a ridge line entrance option, how do you get in if you have a tarp pitched over the top
Answer:	No. Temporary or emergency use only. Similar to what is utilized by the military or EMT personnel.

Question:	Is there any insulation to it? Or is it just a single layer material? As an emergency shelter, what temp would it still keep you warm in? Thanks
Answer:	Your best bet in any situation is a lightweight to medium weight sleeping bag (mummy bag with a +0 to +40 degree rating; match the bag rating with ambient outside temperature minus the wind chill), a ground mat (to reflect your body heat back towards you that the ground leeches away from you; and thermarest roll-up mat will work; oversized mat if you are a bbm, bbw or bbt big & beautiful... ), and a heavy-duty waterproof tarp (that is 2-foot to 4-foot taller than you and 3.5-foot wider than your shoulders). Place your ground mat and sleeping bag in the center of the tarp. You will get in the sleeping bag (get comfortable), roll the left-side of the tarp over you and the right-side of the tarp over the right side (forming a burrito with you in the center). Tuck the excess tarp at your feet under your feet (by raising your feet dragging the tarp under you as you would do with your blankets at home; do the same thing with the excess tarp at your head). You are now a warm, windproof, waterproof burrito that will be comfortable in just about any situation. Use a large mylar space blanket to reflect away excess light/heat if you're in the hot desert. Best emergency setup you will ever use besides sleeping under a lean-to in the woods (shelter in the woods made by leaning a long tree/branch against a tree and laying freshly cut limbs along the sides of the long tree/branch against the tree to make a roof. Layer multiple layers of cut limbs and leaves/mulch to make your shelter windproof/waterproof. Research bushcraft shelters to learn more in case of an emergency.
Question:	Does it have a bug screen
Answer:	I've seen these reviewed on survival web sites and they give the exact opposite answer. Put this INSIDE your sleeping bag. It increases the bags effective rating by 20 deg. Put a pair of long johns on and you're good to go. Since it's 90% reflective, you keep all that nice warmth right next to your skin. If you get too warm, unzip and roll back the bag and open the Tact Bivvy a bit. Also, you can pack a much lighter bag, since the lower the bag rating, the heavier it is. And you'll still be secure knowing you're going to stay warm.

Question:	Does this Mosquito Tent protect against bed bugs from coming into the tent
Answer:	Thanks for the question! We found the best way to get in is to push the front end down all the way by releasing the sewn-in line-lok adjuster. You can then climb up on top of the bivy and in through the zipper. Once inside, you can then pull the front end back up by tugging on the end of the line coming out of the adjuster and close the zipper. Question:	Does the tent have any flame retardant or waterproofing (dwr) chemical treatment? or any other chemical treatment
Answer:	This is most definitely an emergency shelter. It’s a single layer of shower proof material. That said it’s extremely compact and light and so is ideal to keep in your pack to keep wind and weather off you in an emergency.
Question:	Do they make a tapered bug net to fit in the tapered tarp
Answer:	No. It's just the simplest of envelopes. It's intended for emergencies, when you care about life and death, not bugs.
Question:	Can I set this tent up on a porch instead of the ground
Answer:	This will be almost a full pound lighter, but you will need either trekking poles, some sticks, or a tree or something to tie up the bug net. It worked very well for me for two weeks on he PCT, and was comfortable for Mr and all my gear. The other tent you mentioned looks like it has a 13" x 13" x 3" pack volume. I would imagine that would be pretty difficult to fit in most packs, but I also imagine that set up is a no-brainer.
