Answer:	You should just press the button once to come on and it will stay on for 1.5hrs and press it 3 different times for heating variables, high medium low and long press for off. If its fully charged but not staying on it may be defective but dont let that steer you away just get a replacement from Amazon because this thing has saved my wifes life in a sense of the word.

Answer:	It is low-profile and depending on your clothes, it will be undetectable. The only bulky part is the battery, which is about 2” wide x 3” tall by 3/4” thick. Hope this helps.

Answer:	I'd say no, it's not the best. It doesn't get as hot as I'd like it to and as it's not as effective at getting rid of cramps as I'd hoped. The most effective way I've found to use it is to let it get its hottest then turn it off, let your skin cool, then turn it on again.

Answer:	Although I have not opened the bladder, from shaking the bag, it seems that the fluid is water based. The process is simple: you plug it in and a resistance heater warms the liquid and the "charge" is how long it takes for the fluid to cool. This is not a phase change salt or wax-like material that gets a further benefit from the energy stored in going from a solid to a liquid. Regarding bloat over time from gas escaping from the liquid, after 100+ charges we have not noticed any additional air in the bladder. I would guess that agitating the bladder at room temp would equalize the gas back into the fluid IF that became an issue because room temp and one atmosphere of pressure is how the portable heating pad arrived. Enough science; We like the pad so well we bought one for our parents.
