10 best coleman camping pads
Coleman camping pads are outdoor sleeping accessories designed to provide comfort and insulation while camping or backpacking. They are related to camping and outdoor recreation and are often used in conjunction with sleeping bags and other camp bedding. Here's what you need to know about Coleman camping pads:
Types of Coleman Camping Pads: Coleman offers a range of camping pads to suit different preferences and camping conditions. The most common types include:
Self-Inflating Pads: These pads have a foam core that expands and self-inflates when the valve is opened. Users can manually adjust the firmness by adding or releasing air. They are known for their convenience and insulation.
Air Pads: Air pads are lightweight and compact, designed for backpackers and campers who prioritize portability. They require manual inflation using a pump or by blowing air into the valve.
Foam Pads: Foam camping pads are simple and durable. They don't require inflation and provide a good balance of comfort and insulation. They are often used as a base layer under other sleeping pads for added comfort.
Comfort and Insulation: Coleman camping pads are designed to offer a comfortable sleeping surface by cushioning the body from the hardness of the ground. They also provide insulation, preventing the loss of body heat to the cold ground, thus keeping campers warmer during the night.
Size and Thickness: Coleman camping pads come in various sizes and thicknesses to accommodate different sleeping preferences and body types. Thicker pads tend to offer more comfort but may be bulkier to carry.
Portability: Many Coleman camping pads are designed to be portable and lightweight, making them suitable for backpacking and camping trips where weight and space are at a premium.
Materials: Coleman camping pads are typically constructed using durable materials that are resistant to punctures and wear. Common materials include polyester and nylon for the outer cover and various types of foam for the padding.
Inflation and Deflation: Depending on the type of pad, inflation and deflation can be manual or automatic. Self-inflating pads have a valve that allows for easy adjustment, while air pads require manual inflation using a pump or your breath.
Maintenance: Proper care and maintenance, such as keeping the pad clean and dry, is essential to ensure the longevity of Coleman camping pads. It's also important to store them properly to prevent damage.
Accessories: Coleman offers accessories such as repair kits for patching small holes or leaks that may occur during use.
Use Cases: Coleman camping pads are suitable for a wide range of outdoor activities, including camping, backpacking, hiking, and even for providing extra sleeping comfort when attending outdoor events or festivals.
Overall, Coleman camping pads are designed to enhance the outdoor sleeping experience by providing a comfortable and insulated surface for campers and backpackers, allowing them to rest more comfortably during their outdoor adventures.

User questions & answers
Question: | The straps ripped right off the first time I rolled it up. I barely even pulled them snug. Has this happened to anyone else |
Answer: | I've been reading your answers and, I have a suggestion. You could try using velcro straps to get it tighter. You can purchase a roll of it at Home Depot for a few bucks. It's designed for using on tarps. |
Question: | Does it have a strong plastic or PVC smell |
Answer: | No, I don't smell it at all. It even got wet while camping. |
Question: | how thick is the pad? I don't see any thickness dimensions on the item description |
Answer: | Maybe an inch to inch and a quarter. The pad self inflates, so give it 5 minutes for full thickness. The pillow sucks.i ripped mine off. |
Question: | is there enough cushioning to make love making comfortable on a hard surface underneath |
Answer: | It will knock the edge off. If you understand what I mean. But, I'd look at something else. It's only an inch thick. If you were to lie flat on a smooth surface, then maybe.Hope that helped. |

User questions & answers
Question: | Are there any other differences between this one and the Deluxe Version Cot besides the lenght |
Answer: | This pretty is pretty short. It says it is for people 5'7" or less. I got the deluxe because I'm 5'10" - plenty long for me, but too short for my 6'6" husband. I had to find an extra long cot for him. He was surprised they made any cots his size. |
Question: | Can someone please tell me the difference between the Coleman ComfortSmart Bunkhouse Deluxe Folding Cot and the Coleman ComfortSmart Folding Cot I am trying to figure out the differences besides the price and the word DELUEX |
Answer: | I ordered the deluxe based on the sizing chart on Amazon. It said 69 x 25 x 15. When it arrived it was actually 79 x 30 x 15. Too big for the area so now sending it back. Dimensions are incorrect online |
Question: | Have you used it for camping in a tent? Also, is the pad removable |
Answer: | pad is removeable. Yes at my old age of 68 I camped in a tent with this cot..I will say I also had a memory foam mat that i placed on top of the mattress and slept very well for 4 nights.. Did I miss my real bed? YES but this was the best cot for my back and didn't have a backache at all. |
Question: | How much does it weigh |
Answer: | The product description says it weighs about 19.5 pounds. |

User questions & answers
Question: | What are the dimensions when deflated and folded up |
Answer: | Roughly 9" X 20" X 1". It folds on top of its self into the one section. Well worth it for the price. Good for backpacking. |
Question: | I see that these fold up...but can this pad be "rolled-up" tight like a normal pad for back packing |
Answer: | I'm not sure as I've never tried rolling it but I don't see why not. The seams where they fold are quite large, maybe about an inch thick and make folding it very easy. It can be squeezed and compacted very small and flat. I've attached it just that way on my pack. I'll have to sort through our camping things to find it and try rolling it... |
Question: | Does this have an R value |
Answer: | I don’t think so? It’s very basic. We just use it for travel when the kids will be sleeping on the floor. I wouldn’t count on it for insulation since the sections are quite separate and would allow a lot of cold air between. |
Question: | how long is this |
Answer: | It measures 49" x 20" x 1" |

User questions & answers
Question: | How big is it when it is rolled up |
Answer: | Approx 6" round by 25" long. that is when you deflate it. I bought 2 of them at the same time Very pleased with them. |
Question: | what is the weight of this product |
Answer: | Idk but i wouldn't buy it. The self-inflating title is correct but worthless when you lay on it it it feels like you are laying directly on the ground. I'd look into getting a solid, roll-up pad if i were you. |
Question: | Do you have to blow it up or does it self blow up |
Answer: | You can do either. It doesn't self inflate very much, and you will probably end up blowing it up some. BUT .... Do yourself a favor and pass on this one. Very poor quality. I used mine once and threw it away. It was a waste of money. |

User questions & answers
Question: | Are these insulated for warmth |
Answer: | This is not insulated for warmth. This is a very basic self-inflating camp mat, it is meant to provide a little bit of cushion and support. Overall it is a very nice camp mat, even nicer than my adult camp mat. Insulation and warmth should be coming from your sleeping bag, not a mat. |
Question: | Can I roll it up instead of folding |
Answer: | It folds up very nicely and packs/travels well. You might be able to roll it up, but I don't think the straps would work unless it's folded. |
Question: | What is the dimension of the pad? I couldn't even find it at Coleman website |
Answer: | It is stored away but guesstimate is 24"x50".My 5 1/2 year old used it with the idea of using it for the next couple years for camping, the auto inflate is a bit overrated but a little help and it fills right up! I recommend this. |
Question: | Could this be used as a day care nap mat |
Answer: | Yes it is easy to inflate and store. |

Question: | We have two cats and a dog that may jump on it. Is this a durable mattress |
Answer: | We have a shih-tzu/toy poodle mix and he jumped on it with no problems. Also, my son is a pretty big kid at 6'1" and about 220lbs and it held up just fine! |
Question: | Will this separate into two twins, so you can use them in different bedrooms |
Answer: | Yes, it separates into two twins, or zippered together to make a king, vor stacked on top of each other for a raised twin. |
