If you provide these parameters and calculate or create a test with an insulated container, you will have your answer. |

| Answer: | DO NOT USE ON TODDLERS unsupervised! and seniors with thin more fragile skin. If you are thinking about using them for a age group with thin or tender skin like a toddler or senior, put them in a Pot Holder pouch, this reduces chances of burning, check often, if the skin turns pink, remove as the product needs more padding. It's to hot for that person with out more padding. Each of the different products they make rise to a different heat level. The large 18 hr one reaches up to 140 degrees, and can blister unprotected skin. I use the small hand ones, but I still put them in a Pot Holder pouch. Which in turn I pin in place over the area of my lumbar that hurts, and I can't get fixed. It's like having a 24 hr heating pad. If I didn't use the Hot Hands I would not be mobile, as it reduces the pain level. The smaller hand size do not get as hot as the larger ones. Not tried the ones for feet or that stick to your skin. As a senior, my skin is fragile, so I steer clear of anything that adheres to my skin. Hope my experience with Hot Hands has helped answer your questions. They are safe to use, read the directions though. Be aware of the fragility of the skin of the person who is using them. I can handle the small ones with out padding for a short while with my hands, but to put it on the more tender skin of my back, I use the Pot Holder to mute the heat to a lower level, which makes it just like low on a heating pad that you plug in. The key is the person's skin fragility, because even on low a plug in heating pad can burn a person. Which is why the newer ones have a 2 hr timer in them.If they are going into mittens, you could wrap them in some thing like a wash cloth to mute the amount of heat. Keep checking at area, if it is pink it is going into the burn phase. |

They generally don't get hot enough to cause burns, but still you should use caution re sleeping with them, putting them with children or elderly people, etc. They have been known to melt silk underwear & cause a skin burn that way, but that's the only way I've ever known anyone to be injured with one of these, & I've been using them for years. |
