Answer:	It costs only $13 so it's made in China, if it was made in New York it would cost $130, if London $230 :)
Question:	Where is the on/off switch for this lantern
Answer:	Just disassembled mine to make the lens "frosty" instead of clear (keep from burning my retinas!). There's a microswitch on top of the battery compartment. A long spring connected to the LED array presses against the switch to turn it off--extending obviously releases the switch. The battery compartment cover can be installed in 4 positions (rotating 90 degrees between). If not in the correct one of the 4, the spring would never press the normally-closed switch (opening the circuit and turning off the light). If your doesn't turn off, I'd suspect wrong orientation of the cover plate or that the spring has fallen off. Either would be a pretty simple fix. Curiously, I also found the long center screw was installed upside down. The bottom end plastic is shaped to capture the nut. It made initially disassembly slightly more difficult (you'll need a 7mm socket or open-ended wrench).

I didn't buy my original lantern on Amazon but I came to buy a replacement one and looked at the questions. Answer:	A triple A battery will fit, but the light requires a 3.7 Volt battery,and the AAA batteries are only 1.2 Volts.

Answer:	I'm a professional mechanic and for what I do, the Streamlight brand is awesome. They are bright, the batteries last forever not to mention, I have dropped my lights in every kind of muck you could think of in a shop and they still work. Answer:	I'm assuming you mean intrinsically safe in the official NFPA-type definition, vs the other people who assumed you just meant safe in general. The official answer would have to come from the company, but given that the electronics are solid state (no arcing/sparking) and the waterproof sealing, I wouldn't be uncomfortable using this in a Class 1 Div 2 environment. I'm not sure I would use in C1D1 without direct information from the manufacturer.

Question:	Is this waterproof
Answer:	Yes they are resealable. I used these at Boy Scout summer camp this summer and they worked well. I have since put the opened packages in a quart size freezer bag to make sure they don’t dry out. So far so good.

Answer:	They stay just fine for me. But, I use them for the gym so through an avg. of 4-5 a week. I don't know of u left them sealed for months at a time. I also keep them near the top of the bag so they don't get squeezed. With that, no leakage and last one is as good as the first.

Answer:	With the lantern standing on it's top and the bottom removed, iif you look into the lantern battery compartment, you will see a stem sticking up in the middle . That stem is round with a raised pointy area on it. Look at the bottom piece and you will see a hollow stem sticking up that has an opening with a matching pointy area. In order to put the bottom on the lantern you have to match those two pointed areas together , slide the bottom in and then twist clockwise.. If you don't match the stem in the lantern to the hollow tube in the bottom piece they won't go together.

Answer:	This will blow through premium alkaline batteries like Duracell, down 50% in five months and dead in nine months. I am suspicious of people upvoting the claim it is like a smoke detector. This is good light, it is NOT a good light for emergency unless you insert a piece of thin cardboard to block one of the contacts.

Answer:	My old and new model are both dimable, but I think it's the firestarter in the lid. It would be good if the instruction showed how to use it though.

Answer:	There is no standard but there should be. Lumens are a confusing thing to advertise for several reason. Especially because this is a 360 degree light and not a focused beam. Plus, lumens increase exponentially as you get closer. Some manufacturers advertise 1500lux but they dont tell you thats from 1 inch away. At 6 inches, that same light would be 50lux. Even a car highbeam is 60lux if you back up far enough. There's no standard way to measure it so all claims are kind of a racket. Our responsibility as consumers is to buy these things PRIME and return them after trying them. The market will eventually get sick of covering that expense and a standard lux measurement will be instated (for example: 2 light sensors, 1 foot apart from each other, 4 feet from the light. That would be useful info). SHORT VERSION: Lumens mean nothing in this context.

Question:	are the batteries replaceable and if so what type
Answer:	This is a good question, and the people trying to answer here are ignorant, lol. Of COURSE it has batteries, internal, rechargeable ones. And there's LOTS of reasons to want to have access to them. What if one goes weak or bad? You can replace it for about $4...or you can chunk the whole thing in the garbage. Also, the batteries that come with it are probably cheap massed produced batteries - for probably $15-$20 dollars you could replace them with latest technology, cutting edge performance Lithium Ion batteries that would give twice the runtime and more light output. So, its a good question. I won't buy anything that doesn't give me access to the batteries.

Answer:	I have never completely drained the battery on mine while car camping. I suppose it would power the lamp on low for 10 or 12 hours that is just a guess. I have never used it to charge a phone either. It has always been enough to light the tent and chores after dark then charge back up the next day on the car 12 volts.
