Answer:	I've have never needed to sharpen mine, but they say they can be, even the serrated ones. If so, any knife sharpener should do.

Answer:	No, these knives do not come with sheaths. They used to come with disposable plastic blade guards for shipping. The current packaging has peel-away film covering the blades (keeps them from cutting through the plastic case during shipping) and that is what is shown in the picture. You can see the pull-tabs at the base of the blade on the spine side. :-)

Question:	I just received this knife set. Only the bread knife has "Fibrox" written on the handle. Did I receive the wrong items
Answer:	No, I own bunch of Fibrox Victorinox knives, and they do not all say it on the handle. I think it has to do with when the handles were actually formed. They are made in a form and they may change the handle shape or wording
Question:	Two of the knives in this set do not say 'Fibrox' on the handles, while the other two do. Are they still the right items or should I return them
Answer:	Even though it doesn't say "Fibrox" for them, the picture shows the handles the same. The non-Fibrox handles (Redwood) that they make are much more expensive and must be hand washed. Recommend keeping them if you like the knives. They are good ones and the Fibrox handles hold up well and are comfortable to use.
Question:	Where are these knives made? Description says blades are "hand finished" in Switzerland ... not that the knives themselves are actually made there
Answer:	The literature says they are made in Switzerland, though it's possible the raw plastic for the handles comes from elsewhere. Doesn't matter anyway, you'll love these knives.

Answer:	I use a dishwasher all the time. Steel tempering happens at ~400 - 600 degrees - my dishwasher only achieves those temperatures on the "melt my dinnerware" cycle. Knives become dull with time because of use. Learn to sharpen your knives or have them sharpened. Dishwasher has nothing to do with it.

SHARPENING

To re-sharpen your knife, use a whetstone at an angle of 15°– 20°. This will result in a cutting angle of 30°– 40°. If sharpening on a grinding wheel, always cool with plenty of water to avoid excessive temperatures and the resulting damages that may occur.



CLEANING

If the blades of knife begin to stick together, open and close the blades in warm water several times - this will allow the tools to move easily again. Once dry, apply a drop of Swiss Army Knife Oil between each tool and its spring. Do not put Swiss Army Knives in the dishwasher.

Answer:	Yes, it was worth buying. I use mine all the time.

Answer:	I have no idea. The plastic sides came loose on my tinker after a few years of use and dropping. I used some epoxy glue to re-attache, and never had a problem again. I had my knife for 20 years until I recently lost it on the job at work. If that is the problem you just have to be careful when applying the epoxy so it doesn't close up the holes for the tweezers and tooth pick. I hope your problem is as easy to fix as mine was. I never had a mechanical issue with my knife other than a broken tip on the small blade. I just bought a replacement for the knife I lost, but it will never be the same since my two sons gave it to me for Christmas (with the help of their mom) when they were very young.

Answer:	I never run any of my knifes through the dishwasher. This knife has a plastic handle and you could run it through one. Ask yourself a simple question - WHY? It isn't good for them.

Answer:	Anthony, I know this is a very late answer to your question but I tried the Image Professional Kitchen Knife Sharpener System Fix-angle Version II with 4 stones, plus bought finer stones for it as well. If not this unit, something that mechanically keeps the angle of the blade and stone consistent (versus by hand) is best. There are a couple of others like this that keep the knife angle constant. I'd recommend those types. Ruixin Pro on Amazon also has a similar set-up. What's more is you can set the angle(s), mark with scratching a line on the adjustment shaft or simply leave set-up at preferred angle. Recommend a jeweler's glass if your eyes can't see the edge of the blade well like mine are to really get in there to see the angle is correct. I love this blade too, use it often on wild cattle hunts. Hope that helps.

Answer:	The lock is a liner lock style (no button it’s an internal spring bar) and it would be physically impossible to press the lock while it’s closed as it springs into place when the is opened. There is no cool guy flicking open the blade with this knife however, the hole in the blade works very well as a one hand opening thumb assist.

Answer:	Made in Switzerland as all of these are. There is a lifetime warranty offered, although I have never claimed it. This is the most useful compact knife that anyone makes.

Answer:	No, the Waiter does not have a can opener. It has a bottle cap opener and a corkscrew and a knife blade, and a toothpick and tweezers. The small form factor is comfortable for carrying in a pants pocket.

Answer:	Victorinox does not recommend their knives for children under the age of 13. It would really matter how mature your child is.
Question:	Is this great on a keychain or is it too heavy
Answer:	They are identical except for the scales (handles). The Camper II uses a matte finished called EcoLine made from recycled materials. It is a bit more abrasion resistant and less expensive to produce. The SAK symbol looks more like a silk screen on the scales on the Camper II whereas the symbol is imprinted into the scales of the original Camper.

Answer:	I bought one of these Waiter model in August 2015. Yes it has the small hole there for a straight pin, but it doesn't come with a pin in it. So I simply added one. I also added a mini screw driver to the corkscrew.

Iconic Design

In 1891 Karl Elsener, the owner of Victorinox, was under contract by the Swiss Army to produce a folding pocket knife to be suitable for use by soldiers for opening canned food and disassembling the Swiss service rifle. Elsener invented a special spring mechanism allowing him to attach the tools on both sides of the handle, using the same spring to hold the tools in place. This innovative design meant Elsener could put twice as many features on the knife, which included a blade, a second smaller cutting blade, reamer, can-opener, screwdriver, corkscrew, and wood fiber grips. The Swiss Army Knife is the most recognizable icon of utility and smart design, and the knives are still made exclusively in only two factories in Switzerland.
