User questions & answers
Question: | Is this stove approved for indoor use |
Answer: | These stoves are typically used by Asians for indoor cooking at the dinning room table for say hot pot, shabu shabu, sukiyaki etc. |
Question: | Bit confused here, some say this comes with a storage case others say it does not. Can anyone tell me yes or no? Thank you in advance |
Answer: | I bought mine here and, yes, it did come with a storage case. The case is plastic and is handy. I don't know why Amazon does not state this in the product description but I do know they do a lot of "cut and paste" when listing products and sometimes the product source varies. In the side pictures, notice the one with the stove and the apparent box it comes in. There is a handle shown in the box view. That is the handle of the plastic carry case inside the box, so if it does not come with a carry case, you can send it back at no cost if you want to. I believe you will get a case and I know you will love this stove. I use mine for when the power goes out. Some Walmarts carry the gas cannisters and some do not. |
Question: | whats the largest diameter pan you can safely use on this without the butane cartridge getting hot and exploding? also is there a manual online anywhere |
Answer: | It's not a question of the butane cartridge getting hot. It's below and to the side of the flame. The pot support has a lip that limits the pot size to 10-3/4 inches or 27.5cm. Any pot larger than that will not be supported in a stable fashion and would be in danger of slipping and slopping out hot contents. |
Question: | How long does the butane cylinder last |
Answer: | Don't know for sure, I fried up a batch of potatoes and onions (twice) as well as some walleye fillets and chicken wings (sever batches) and there seems to be plenty of fuel left in the cannister. Bottom line..... one fuel can will go a long way. I plan to take two with me for a week of shore lunches in Canada in June and that should be more than enough. |

User questions & answers
Question: | Can this be used indoors |
Answer: | Is this burner safe to use indoors? I have just received this burner. The instructions say it should not be used indoors because of the danger of carbon monoxide poisoning. Yet I read about people using it indoors. I wanted to use it in my kitchen in emergencies (when the power goes out). The kitchen does have a window I could open if necessary. The kitchen is also in a open space adjoining family room and dining room. |
Question: | means two stoves or the latest generation? Thanks |
Answer: | For the price you will get 2 stoves. Thank you |
Question: | On average, how long does the canisters of butane last |
Answer: | I would say the average is about 3 hours. Usually have the setting on about medium for cooking and medium-high for boiling water. We use it on our commercial fishing boat in AK so it is used 2-3 times a day for about 6-8 weeks. The unit works great for our needs as our main stove is used mostly for warmth. We have used it for the past several years. If you intend to use it a lot, I would buy the propane by the case. |
Question: | Can I hook up this to a regular propane tank like the one on my grill |
Answer: | No this works only on butane tall tanks |

User questions & answers
Question: | Can someone tell me where this is made?? trying not to buy anything from china. thanks |
Answer: | Some people who answered this question need to be little more realistic and objective. Very big portion of current Chinese manufacturing was handed to them by US corporations out of greed. Top %1 who manages WallStreet also places huge pressure on US corporations to be much more profitable (greedy). End result, fire US worker, take manufacturing to China and pay much less. So "they stole from us" is not quite correct. |
Question: | Does this come with the hose for 16.4 oz propane tank hook up |
Answer: | Yes the hose to connect the stove to a 1 lb propane bottle comes with the stove. |
Question: | Can this be used in the house during a blackout type situation |
Answer: | YES YOU CAN...BUT....EVERYTHING used involving FIRE releases some type of Co2 emissionsyou need to take a few precautions such as using it in a vented area opening windows and having ceiling or portable fans. If you have a hood fan above your electric/gas oven and it vents smoke and fumes outside or to the attic you should definitely place this burner on top of your oven, if it doesn't vent to the outside or attic you'll just be recirculation back inside. Also you NEVER want to leave it unintended and once you're done cooking turn it off. It wouldn't hurt to get a Co2 monitor and place it around 10-12 feet away from your cooking area, having it that distance will keep it from going off unnecessarily yet still let you know if the Co2 levels get high. And above all use some common sense you are cooking over a open flame!!! |
Question: | On high, how long will a 16.4oz propane cylinder last? How long will a butane canister last |
Answer: | I actually tested this out to see how long each fuel would last. The 8oz.Butane lasts just a little over 2 full hours on high heat. The 16oz. Propane lasts just over 4 hours on high heat. However, where I live (Boise,Idaho) the elevation is about 2,800 above sea level so that is a factor to take into consideration....different elevations, slightly different results. Also, not every can is going to give you the same results. On average,I'd be comfortable to say that the above times are pretty consistent + or - 10 minutes either way. |

User questions & answers
Question: | Can this be used in cold waether |
Answer: | Depends on how cold. Butane doesn't work well below 35-40F. If you need a stove for consistent temps around freezing or below, go with a propane model. |
Question: | Can you use a cast iron skillet on this stove |
Answer: | Absolutely. Any pot or pan works fine. Actually, a cast iron skillet would work great. The stove can put out quite a bit of heat, I've used these for a stock pot. |
Question: | How do you put the butane in the stove |
Answer: | The butane fuel can only be loaded in its can. Open the fuel canister compartment cover. Remove the cap on the fuel canister. Insert the canister with the collar notch facing upward. The valve on the canister goes into a small funnel shaped fitting. There is a spring loaded latch that fits into the collar notch. Close the compartment and activate the fuel canister lock lever on the front of the stove. The stove is now ready to use. |
Question: | Can this stove use an 8 oz can |
Answer: | can you use 8 oz can |

User questions & answers
Question: | What kind of flame does this give? Is it comparable to the normal Bunsen burner, or is it more spread out |
Answer: | Looks like they're MSG-free. My bulk box doesn't have this information printed on it, but each individually foil-wrapped tea bag lists as ingredients: Wuyi oolong tea, peppermint, natural chocolate flavor, cocoa powder and carob powder. |
Question: | why did one customer claim he received a generic version and not the brand |
Answer: | VeganPlanetBasedHealth(dot)com lists Stash among their vegan teas and adds that Stash teas are on the PETA Cruelty Free Tea list. The bag itself is 100% natural fiber (no plastics). There's no honey nor, explicitly, milk on the product's ingredient list, but at issue could be the ingredients of the chocolate from which the flavoring is derived. I'd guess dyed-in-the-wool vegans pretty much give most chocolates a wide berth given the chance milk is even a small part of the ingredient's ingredient list. You can contact Stash directly (see their website for how to do that) if you need to know more. If you're cool with the chocolate issues, this is a great tea! |
Question: | First time use this burner, how do I know the gas filling level? So I can stop filling |
Answer: | Hi David, thank you for your questions! Stash Tea makes every effort to procure ingredients for its teas that are pesticide-free. Stash Tea continues to build its global network of suppliers and works hard to select those suppliers who minimize or have eliminated the use of pesticides in their growing of tea, herbs, and spices. We regularly test for pesticides and other chemicals that are commonly used on crops.Pesticides used on crops must be considered “food safe” and must meet strict FDA standards for that particular crop. As with other leading tea companies around the world, Stash Tea adheres to best practice food safety guidelines when procuring its teas, herbs, and spices.Stash Organic teas are grown without the use of any synthetic pesticides, fertilizers, or herbicides.Regarding caffeine, Stash tea does not currently test our products for caffeine content. Due to the variability in caffeine content in tea, even between the same type of tea, we also do not make any claims about caffeine. We can confirm that the Chocolate Mint Oolong is caffeinated. If you have any further questions, please reach out to us directly at [email protected] and we would be happy to assist. Thank you! |
Question: | approximately how long does it take to refill the butane gas |
Answer: | The company uses parcel mail to deliver the goods. Therefore, it takes awhile getting to you. |

User questions & answers
Question: | If I use the butane container and need to change to propane (due to freezing temperatures or altitude) is it safe to unscrew the propane and switch |
Answer: | Yes, Just be quick about it !! |
Question: | How big is the burner size? Can i use a 12" pan? Thanks |
Answer: | Measuring diagonally on just the grill part it's 11" and yes a 12" pan would work I have a 13" pot that I use to cook crab outside and it works perfect |
Question: | can this be used indoors |
Answer: | I have used it indoors twice and it works fine... no problems at all. Make sure to be as safe indoors as you are outdoors. |
Question: | Will this accept the weight a 20Qt stainless steel pot of water. Any thoughts on using it for a canning bath |
Answer: | I would not use anything big enough to cover the butane cover section as if that butane canister being thinner metal gets to hot it becomes a ticking time bomb. If I remember right I'm thinking they don't recommend anything over 10-11" in diameter in pots to keep from reflecting heat back down over butane cover. If using the 1 lb propane bottles probably not an issue. You could also wrap the rubber hose with some reflective aluminum foil that goes into stove. |

User questions & answers
Question: | where is this stove made? how long does 1 butane canister last, for example, typical 3 day camping trip, cooking 3 meals a day? durable |
Answer: | I would think china. We use it for cooking outside and a canister of butane lasts a long time. But, that's just me and we're typically cooking one dish and not a dinner. You may use more. It's cheap and often sold in 3 and 4pks. If you're cooking for 4 people 3 x day =12 meals, I would guess two might be as much as you'd need. But I suggest you buy a 4 pack and see how much you use. If you're feeling scientific you could make an approximation by weighting the canister, cooking a typical meal and weighing the canister again and seeing how much you used. |
Question: | Appoximately how many hours of cooking can i get with 1 fuel can using it on the gas one gs-3000 portable gas stove? at approx. a med-high setting |
Answer: | We took this bad boy camping for 2 weeks and went through 1 1/2 cans of fuel (cooking nearly every night). I would stock up on cans however, as some states dont have these readily available. This stove is great! Love the sturdy carry case too! |
Question: | Can this equipment be used indoors, or is it for outside use only |
Answer: | The stove says on it "NOT FOR HOUSEHOLD USE", and the instruction manual contains 4 different warnings about using it inside (reproduced below). When butane burns it normally produces harmless carbon dioxide; however, if there isn't sufficient oxygen available (such as when in an poorly ventilated space) then it will form toxic carbon monoxide instead. If you do decide to ignore the warnings and use it indoors, then make sure that the room is well-ventilated, and make sure that you have a carbon monoxide detector. ---- The cover of the manual has 2 relevant warnings on it: FOR OUTDOOR USE AS A CAMPSTOVE. NOT FOR HOUSEHOLD USE. ANS Z21.72·CSA 11.2-2011 Camp Stove WARNING: CARBON MONOXIDE HAZARD This appliance can produce carbon monoxide which has no odor. Using it in an enclosed space can kill you. Never use this appliance in an enclosed space such as a camper, tent, car or home. The interior of the manual has a "DANGER" section that is mostly about explosions and fire hazards, but contains these 2 warnings about using it indoors: WARNING: Provide ample ventilation when using this appliance. This appliance consumes oxygen. To avoid endangering your life, do not use this appliance in unventilated structures. Provide additional ventilation for any additional burning products or additional occupants. This appliance is for outdoor use as a camp stove or indoor use in commercial restaurants or both. It is not for household use. It should never be used in an unventilated structure such as a tent, camper, vehicle or any other enclosed area as the use of oxygen or the bulid [sic] up of carbon monoxide could endanger your life. |

User questions & answers
Question: | Is this stove big enough to hold a donabe |
Answer: | Yes. It easily holds a donabe large enough for 4-6 people. It could potentially hold more, but I have not tested it at that size yet. It puts out head adequate to pretty quickly bring the liquid to a boil and holds a simmer well. Make sure to start with the flame fairly low as I cracked a clay pot on the first use by starting at the highest setting. The pot cracked even though it was full of liquid prior to going on the heat. |
Question: | Where is the country of origin |
Answer: | This one is made in Japan and the quality is awesome!! |
Question: | at almost 4 times the cost of those $20 butane stoves, is this Iwatani stove safer than those cheap stoves |
Answer: | This Iwatani stove is the best of all portable butane stove. I cook very fast and it will use all the butane gas not like other butane stove. The butane is on the top of the heat metal plate. It definitely help to get the max out of the butane gas inside container. I have at least 2 x 12000 BTU and 4 x 15000 BTU portable butane stove at home. You never regret to buy this stove at all. |
Question: | Do the GasOne Butane cans work with the Iwatani stove? The Iwatani fuel is much more expensive. Is the GasOne as safe and does it work well |
Answer: | Gas One canisters work just as well, but they're not as safe. Iwatani cans have CRV (explosion-proof) construction, but Gas One do not. However, are many inexpensive brands that do have CRV. I recently paid $5 (on sale) for a 4-pack of CRV cans at the local asian market (they're usually $6). |
