User questions & answers

Question: What's the most efficient way to clean the Stanley pot when you have limited resources on extended trips
Answer: The best and easiest way to clean just about any camping cookware, is to, after use, put a tight cover on it with about 2 to three tablespoons of water....Let it sit in a warm(not hot) area, and when you pull of the cover, most of that burned on and stuck on goop has been "released" due to the condensation in the pot. You can also use just plain sand and water to scrub those tougher areas.
Question: Does anyone know if the 8oz. butane/propane canister fits inside this cooking set, if you remove the 2 plastic cups
Answer: Ditch both cups, get a ss cup (MSR, REI, or WM) that this pot will sit in. Turn the 4oz fuel canister upside down and drop it in the Stanley Pot. Put the pocket stove on top of that. You should have room for a spork, and some spice packs, a little dish soap and a small cleaning cloth. The SS cup is less weight than the plastic ones and you can cook in it. There are several YouTube videos on it.
Question: What is total weight for this set
Answer: Hi Lilly. Cookset weighs a total of nearly 14oz. Without cups a weight of 7.5oz. I ditched the cups to save the weight and gain some room. Also ditched the plastic handle and put a split ring on. Hope this helps. pgorja.
Question: If these are made from Stainless Steel, then why do magnets NOT stick to it
Answer: Umm hate to get too nerdy but austinite phase of steel is non magnetic. That’s why with regular steel it isn’t magnetic when it’s hot, the pearlite and martencite phases convert to austinite when heated. Most stainless steel alloys stay in the austinite phase at room temperature hence why it isn’t magnetic. 18-8 isn’t a duplex stainless alloy...

Question: can fit a gas canister inside the kettle
Answer: Not exactly sure but these filters suck can’t keep any pressure in your rv even when they are brand new
Question: What is the exact diameter of the opening for the lid? I'd like to store a 110 gm fuel canister inside the pot. The fuel canister is 3.5 inches wide
Answer: I’m full-time alone in my RV, staying mostly in parks and resorts. I’m almost always on city water, yet I still use this filter, and routinely replace it every six months. I have yet to ever notice any chlorine or other unusual tastes in my water. Very satisfied!

User questions & answers

Question: Is this product made in the US
Answer: Not sure. But be warned that this does not have a metal basket to put the coffee grinds in. This is for "boiling" coffee. If you want one with the stand/basket, try this 8 cup one ASIN: B001Y8PT5I on amazon. I opted for that model and love it!
Question: Is this kettle magnetic? Need to know if I can use it for an induction cooktop
Answer: It is made of thin steel or tin. A Magnet will stick to it. it should work on a induction just fine. Induction cooktops will not create a strong magnetic field. Enjoy a Kup of Kowboy Koffee... :-)
Question: will this handle being heated up by flames from a camp fire
Answer: In the past, I have used utensils such as this in my camping experiences. However, I have no personal experience with this particular product. That being said, it is supposed to be capable of exposure to direct heat as a coffee pot. I would expect that it most likely will perform as you have inquired. My advice is to be prudent in how you use it by providing a off to the side heat source from your main campfire. IMO.
Question: What kind of filters do i need
Answer: Put the grounds in Water and boil. Pour through a bandana as filter, rinse. bandana and dry for use later.
