Fit and Comfort: One of the standout features of Osprey packs is their emphasis on comfort. Many models offer adjustable harnesses, hip belts, and shoulder straps, allowing you to customize the fit to your body shape. This ensures a snug and comfortable fit, reducing the risk of discomfort and fatigue during long hikes.
Organization and Pockets: Osprey packs are known for their thoughtful organization. They typically include multiple pockets, compartments, and attachment points for gear, making it easy to keep your essentials organized and accessible. Some packs even have a detachable daypack for added convenience.
Ventilation: Many Osprey packs incorporate features like suspended mesh back panels that promote airflow and reduce sweating on your back. This ventilation system enhances overall comfort during extended hikes in warm weather.
Durability: Osprey is known for using high-quality materials and construction methods that ensure the durability and longevity of their backpacks. Reinforced stress points and robust zippers are common features.
Hydration Compatibility: Most Osprey backpacking packs are equipped with hydration reservoir sleeves and ports, allowing you to easily carry and access water while on the trail. This is especially convenient for staying hydrated during long hikes.
Rain Cover: Many Osprey packs come with an integrated rain cover or have a dedicated pocket to store one. This feature helps protect your gear during wet weather.
Weight Distribution: Osprey packs are designed to evenly distribute the weight of your load, reducing strain on your shoulders and back. This can be crucial for preventing discomfort and injury during extended trips.
Lifetime Warranty: Osprey is known for its "All Mighty Guarantee," which offers a lifetime warranty on their backpacks. This commitment to quality and customer satisfaction gives users confidence in the longevity of their investment.
In summary, Osprey backpacking packs are favored by outdoor enthusiasts for their comfort, durability, and versatility. User questions & answers
Question: | Does it worth the extra price versus the old model |
Answer: | Yes. Not a big price difference, and you get a rain cover and extra lower compression straps. Over the 8-10 years you’ll use this bag, the extra cost is nil |
Question: | Are the dimensions of the pack when it is full |
Answer: | Yes, although I'd say it's a bit deeper than 6 inches when loaded up to the max. |
Question: | How do you measure for size |
Answer: | You can visit the Osprey website, there is a guide to measuring for your size. You may need someone to help since you'll be measuring down the center of your back, but it saves you the trouble of driving to an outdoor store to get measured for a product that you don't intend to buy from them. |
Question: | What does the sizing mean? Is it how much the bag can hold or is it just for fit |
Answer: | Size means ho the bag fits your body. This website and video explains how to self-measure---it's helpful to go in store as well and try different sizes on. https://www.osprey.com/us/en/fitting-learning/size-fit Note: sometimes the sizing does affect capacity. E.g. the men's mall size of this bag is only 60 liters. |

Question: | Is this carry on sized |
Answer: | I won’t suggest it.. mostly walking and hiking. I bought them for work, because I work in a hospital... lots of walking. |
Question: | Does this pack offer sleeping pad straps |
Answer: | It might survive if you get caught up in the rain. I am not sure it will, if you immersed them in water. I use wet wipes to clean them. |
Question: | Is this a good backpack for the Appalachian trail |
Answer: | I think it depends on your gear. I took this pack on a 2 day trip. I have a pretty big sleeping bag and pad. If yours is small, you could probably swing it. I clipped my tent to the outside on the bottom. There’s straps on the side you can shove some stuff in too. |
Question: | Is the iceland green more an emerald green or a blu |
Answer: | You have to buy it separately. |

User questions & answers
Question: | My torso length is 19, I see the size scale says to do a medium, but would it be alright or will the inch difference cause that much of an issue |
Answer: | Made in Vietnam |
Question: | Does this backpack have an internal frame |
Answer: | It may be a little large, but you can just compare the TSA's guidelines for carry on size to the dimensions of this bag. I prefer to use a 45L duffel with straps. It is more streamlined. |
Question: | Im 6'1", i weigh around 230 lbs. What size should i get |
Answer: | It does not, but Osprey does offer an ultra light rain cover. The large size fits 50-75 L packs. |
Question: | the dimensions are the same for S, M or L? if not, what are the dimensions for the large one |
Answer: | The different sizing is for different torso sizes/hip belt sizes. A small fits a torso size of 16-19 inches and a waist/hip size of 24-45 inches. A medium fits a torso size of 18-21 inches and a waist/hip size of 27-48 inches. A large fits a torso size of 20-23 inches a waist/hip size of 29-55 inches. |

User questions & answers
Question: | Is this pack small enough to be used as carry on luggage |
Answer: | I also got a Medium size bag and it fits perfectly. Of course, the bag can be adjusted so you shouldn't have any issues making it fit to your body. Now, if I was to do this all over again, I would get a bigger bag, perhaps a 58L or 60L. The 48L is good enough for 3 days or so. Something to think about. |
Question: | Are all three sizes 58 litters |
Answer: | Yes |
Question: | How long is the pack |
Answer: | Hieght, weight, and shoulder width are irrelevant in determining proper pack size. Please see the Osprey website and other outfitters who sell their products, such as REI, in person or online for information on determining what your correct fit is. |
Question: | Description says it's 6.54 lbs. This pack should be 2.11 lbs (close to that). Is there weight wrong on here |
Answer: | No, sizes are different, check on Osprey webpage, I was almost in between S and M, and got S and is too small. So, if you are in between sizes I recommend to choose the bigger. |
