Question:	So this is a weird question, but I'd like to take my bicycle with me on my commute. Can I lock my bicycle to the bike rack using a typical bike lock
Answer:	Some people are suggesting locking the bike to the car with a cable. It should be noted that ANY cable, even the thickest and most secure ones on the market, can be cut in seconds. A cable of any type is, at best, a deterrent to the casual thief. A serious thief loves cables because they are so easily cut. If you have an expensive bike, the only option worth considering is a U-bolt type of lock. Simply remove your bike from the car rack and lock it to a post. Even U-bolts can be defeated but the time and tools required will send all but the most determined thief looking for easier prey, like a bike with a cable.

Answer:	This rack (or any strap mounted carrier) should not be used on the Volvo XC models. The issue is that the top of the rear door on the XC's is made of extremely brittle fiberglass that can crack if anything (i.e. metal hooks or bike rack straps) is placed in the seem at the top of the rear door. We would recommend installing a receiver hitch on your vehicle and using a hitch mounted carrier.

Question:	Will it work with a sprinter van and 29in bike tire
Answer:	I don’t know about the sprinter vans. We have a Suburban and it works great. I set the rack up on an Expedition and the rack was not able to be put in the upright setting with that vehicle, but it still worked fine. I have used this rack to transport mountain bikes of all sizes, from 20” tires to 29” tires. The 29ers fit great.
Question:	Will this work with a rigid fork mountain bikes
Answer:	No, this is compatible with suspension-fork bikes only.
Question:	why doesnt this work for RVs
Answer:	I believe that Yakima states that because of the extra forces applied to the rack. The amount of RV body that extends past the rear tires causes more bounce and therefore more stress to the rack. That being said my RV is a converted school bus and the back end bounces like crazy. I have put a 1000 miles on the rack with 6 bikes on it, I constantly check it for damage and so far it is holding up exceptionally well. But consider the liability of what you are doing. Depending on the price of the bikes you are putting on there you are looking at risking $3000 dollars upwards of $20,000 if your hauling all your friends top tier trail bikes.

Answer:	I use it also with my kids 20 inch and 24 inch Trek mountain bikes with front shocks. I did have trouble hauling a friends cheap 24 inch mountain bike that has narrowing than standard front shocks.

Question:	Anybody try this on a 2006 Ford Escape? I'm having trouble tightening the bottom strap
Answer:	Since no one has answered your question I'll take a shot at it. There may have a few causes for "... trouble tightening the bottom strap" assuming it means the rack is not snug, . Make sure the strap is threaded correctly through the buckle so it will grip, not slip when tightened and tie it off around the strap as further assurances it will not slip. The bottom strap may loosen up when the bike is put on the rack so either apply some downward force on the rack or put the bike on the rack before tightening the bottom strap.
Question:	Will this fit my 2019 Toyota Camry sedan
Answer:	Yes, as long it doesn’t have a foil. Go to Allen Sports web site look up theUltra Compact Folding 1 and it will show all vehicles that are compatible.
Question:	if my bike weighs a little more than 35lb, around 38lb for example, will the rack work? will the pedal scratch my car
Answer:	yes, I don't see the 3lbs as an issue at all. Install so the weight is evenly distributed. As far as the pedals, my bike does not scatch, the mount offsets the pedals.
Question:	Are there any scratches resulting from this bike rack? I see there are metal hooks that hook the top of the trunk and underneath the... car? Thank you
Answer:	The hooks are coated with a resin that seems like a semi-hard polyester. You can also put some electrical tape on them to soften the touch. I haven't had any scratching, but if I were driving my brand new $445,000 Lamborghini instead of my 10 year old $6000 Ford Escape, I might hesitate to use this rack.

Answer:	There's no particular specific way to install the bike rack. Different vehicles require different installation specifics. My vehicle is an SUV, so there's no "trunk." Whatever way works best for your vehicle is the correct way to install the rack. Just be certain to install it tightly, i.e., tighten the straps very well, and drive over bumps in the road carefully to reduce bouncing. Bouncing causes loosening of the straps and greatly undesirable jostling of your bikes.

Answer:	The hole on the rack for the hitch pin is 1/2". This is designed to work with the No Wobble Bolt that is included with the rack. This bolt works to securely tighten the rack when installed on the vehicle and keeps the rack from moving during use.

Answer:	The brackets that the straps are attached to rotate around the rack arms, making it fairly easy once you figure out the best position. I actually had 3 women's bikes on the rack with no problems. The straps were on the diagonal bar and the vertical bar below the seat and it was very tight, no movement at all. No issues with women's bikes at all here.
Question:	What's the best way to lock bikes to this rack? I've never used a hitch rack before
Answer:	If you are talking about leaving the bikes, we purchased the doberman lock and secured the bikes and lock to the straight pole on back, we have two to interweave between the bike wheels and the pole. We also brought a locking pin for the hitch. Never had a problem, we have left them on there while down the shore, on bike trails while we walk or go to get something to eat.

Answer:	On the current version (2016 and newer) hitch racks, the carry arms are 11.5" apart on center. This translates to an outside dimension of approximately 13"

Question:	Will it fit a 2017 Subaru Outback
Answer:	That 100% depends on your skill level and on the types of waves you will be surfing. Typically when you are beginners you want a board that is nice and long to learn on but not too long to maneuver. The 8’ or 8’8” would both work well.

Answer:	Not on the 2 I own.

Answer:	Can’t really go wrong , all these boards are great for beginners, but the 7’ board is probably a really good all around and fun board to have at your size. Good float / paddle abilities yet also small enough to maneuver for a beginner. Happy surfing!

Question:	Is there a way to "tighten" the rack into the hitch or it sjust slide in and secured by the lock? And how much does this rack weight
Answer:	The rack is secured by a locking mechanism with minimal movement. With regards to weight you would have to check their website. Per my husband it is not heavy.
Question:	Is this carrier secure on a 2" hitch with no wobble? (55lb. Sondors E-Bike
Answer:	It's pretty solid. I've had no issues with an add-on and 2 bikes on mine.
Question:	How far from hitch does it protrude? my garage is not very deep and i have a '99 gmc yukon
Answer:	Depends on your receiver. I had a tight fit on another car and added a second bolt hole farther in.
Question:	Can the rocky mounts add on be attached to the rocky mounts solo if the solo is attached to a 1 1/4" hitch receiver
Answer:	I believe it can only be added to a 2"
