Question:	Will a 1/2 inch or 5/8 hitch pin lock (such as the one Amazon lists as frequently purchased with this carrier) work with this
Answer:	The 1/2" OEM pin goes all the way through the carrier's tongue. The tongue's pin hole is threaded on both sides but the thread will only go in about 1/2 -3/4" or so. You could drill out the 1/2" hole to 5/8" but that may void the warranty. I tried Mac's suggestion. A 1/2" eyebolt only goes into the hitch about a half inch. I would think a bolt on the other side would be necessary. Mac's idea of using the eyebolt with long padlock is a good one, but I discovered that the hole where the cotter pin goes on the 1/2" pin is a little more than a 1/4" in diameter. A padlock with a 1/4" diameter shackle will fit in the hole perfectly. I used a MasterLock 4696D. The shackle appears quite robust and would take a bolt cutter to cut it. This installation secures my hitch to the carrier without any modification.
Question:	What is the measurement between the top of the hitch and the top of the bracket? Checking for clearance
Answer:	On my unit the distance between the top of the carrier tube at the hitch to the highest point on the carrier is 27.5 inches. That does not include the removable hold-down clamp. And for what it's worth, the vertical bar folds down, providing more than enough clearance for my Outback hatch to open.
Question:	What is the thread size of the lock bolt? i want to get a lockable lock bolt
Answer:	The thread size is 1/2"-13 (had a gauge and checked it out) . This was a shock, I thought it would be metric threads.
Question:	Will a fat tire fit
Answer:	a fat Mountain bike tire fits fine... but if you are referring to those REALLY fat tires that you ride on the beach, then, even though it will sit on the tire pedestal, it will not fit in it. You can secure it with a bungee cord and it should work.

Answer:	None of our racks are approved for use on a trailer mounted receiver hitch. Any trailer or trailered vehicle (including 5th wheel type) has a slight side to side motion that's very low frequency (1 to 1-1/2 times per second) that fatigues the steel from which the racks are manufactured. The fatigue first happens at a molecular level, but eventually (several thousands of cycles later) a visible crack will appear. Once the crack has formed, it will enlarge, finally to the point where the rack drops off the vehicle and the rack (and bikes) impact the roadway. This is also a dangerous situation for whoever may be following the trailer on the highway. We have seen 100+ incidents where the consumers/end user has not taken this advice and suffered disastrous results. I've even had phone calls from consumers who said they read that advice (do not use on a trailer) and ignored it, only to discover a tragic end result. So . . . don't do it. If you insist on doing it regardless of the above, please use some other companies’ rack.

Answer:	The product info says 39.1 lbs. It seems at least that and is fairly unwieldy.
Question:	Does anyone have a good secure locking system for the bikes
Answer:	We use our bike locks thru the bike wheels, bike frame and thru the mount . The only problem is that you must use the threaded pin that comes with the rack to secure the rack in the receiver hitch... Wish I could use the lock I have for the rest of my trailers/etc to secure the whole thing to the truck.

Answer:	There is not a locking system for the bikes. The bikes are kept securely in place by the vertical bar with removable braces at the top. The bar will not fold down without the hitch key lock but the bikes could be removed by lifting over this bar. An additional bike lock would be recommended.
Question:	Can you buy the 2-bike rack and then an add-on for
Answer:	You can buy the four set up and then only assemble the first half (2) until you want to connect the second half later in life.

Question:	Can this be tilted with the bikes loaded
Answer:	I purchased the 4 bike version and even by itself, it is extremely heavy. It is made out of steel and not aluminum. If the bikes were loaded and you trigger the tilt, it would be very difficult to raise back up. I would not recommend tilting the 4 bike version fully loaded. I presume the two bike version is lighter of its own accord and then it is the weight of the bikes...
Question:	how wide is the rack? it looks like it sticks out past the edges of the car and cant be folded when not in use
Answer:	My rack measures 70 inches for my bike length. The wheel frames cannot be folded up. The rack can be shortened to 56 inches when not in use by sliding the wheel frames in.
Question:	Will regular road bikes with narrower tires work on this rack
Answer:	Of course this is a great rack. I personally have a ebike and a mountain bike that both have 2.5 inch wide tires but I've hauled a friends road bike and there's no movement or bouncing. To whom it may concern this is a yes or no question. Might or might not doesn't work for this question. If you haven't hauled a road bike then please don't guess.

Question:	How well does the "anti wobble" work? at the hitch receivers tend to wiggle alot. i need it to be very firm
Answer:	There's a metal insert that slides inside the hitch, which then slides into the hitch receiver. This insert has a nut welded inside of it that aligns with the hitch pin hole. They provide you with a threaded hitch pin that screws into that nut, which pinches the hitch against one side of the receiver when tightened.

Answer:	Yes. Mi,e is new it does sway back and forth. It appears some people answered this about putting the bolt in. The automatic quick release ones do not have a bolt that you put in. It has the locking mechanism on it that is supposed to expand and keep it from wobbling but I can't see it's doing that. Disappointed in that as it makes me feel like it's not entirely safe going down the street. Thought it would be easier to use because it says no tools required to put it on the hitch. But it doesn't seem to be holding as well as the standard ones you palpable through

Answer:	Do not buy any product from this company. We had a 4 bike rack. The frame broke off while we were driving and we lost all 4 bikes. Company would not stand behind warranty

Answer:	It comes with an adapter for the 2 inch receiver and am currently using it on my truck with no problems at all.

Answer:	Yakima's manual says the weight limit is 60 pounds per bike.
Question:	does this rack tilt away for access to rear of vehichel
Answer:	The photo shows it in the downward position, except the arms are tilted up. So to access the rear door, the arms fold down. When you are not using the rack, the whole thing folds up against the rear door so that it that's not protrude outward
Question:	How easy is it to mount and unmount this Yakima Holdup unit regularly? For example, I want to mount on Friday and remove it at the end of the weekend
Answer:	Its easy to do, however, the bike rack is heavy (about 55 lbs) and you have to UNSCREW the "no rattle" hitch pin either with the tool provided or use a socket wrench. For me (older female) this is too much effort to do regularly, so once I put the rack on in the spring I don't remove it until the snow falls. The rack is fairly compact and does detract from the beauty of my vehicle (Buick Encore) so I don't mind. So, in the end it is easy to remove but only as fast as you can unscrew the hitch pin and a simple key turn to remove the lock that secures the rack to the hitch.
Question:	Does this come with locking hitch bolt or do you have to buy separately
Answer:	Yes, the rack does come with a locking hitch bolt. However (and it may be due to operator error) the lock fell off in the first two weeks of travel. It is keyed the same as the two locking cables, so the design is excellent. This is an outstanding rack, and I highly recommend it.
