14 best kid bikes
Kid bikes, also known as children's bicycles, are specially designed two-wheeled vehicles that are meant for children to learn and enjoy the art of cycling. These bikes come in a variety of sizes, styles, and features to cater to the different needs and ages of kids. Here are some key points to consider when it comes to kid bikes:
Size: Kid bikes are typically categorized by the size of their wheels. Common sizes include 12-inch, 16-inch, 20-inch, and 24-inch wheels. The appropriate size depends on the child's age and height.
Age Range: Kid bikes are designed for various age groups. For example, a 12-inch bike is suitable for children aged 2 to 4, while a 20-inch bike is typically meant for kids aged 6 to 9.
Types: There are different types of kid bikes, including balance bikes (designed to help children learn balance before transitioning to a pedal bike), BMX bikes (for young riders interested in stunts and tricks), and standard pedal bikes (with training wheels for beginners).
Safety Features: Kid bikes often come with safety features such as coaster brakes, hand brakes, chain guards, and adjustable seats to keep children safe while riding.
Durability: Kids can be tough on their bikes, so these bicycles are typically built with sturdy frames and components to withstand the rough handling.
Design and Aesthetics: Kid bikes often come in a range of colors and designs to cater to children's preferences. Popular themes or characters are also often featured on the bike.
Price Range: Kid bikes come in a wide range of price points. High-quality, branded bikes may be more expensive, but they tend to be more durable and offer a better riding experience.
Assembly: Most kid bikes require some assembly, and it's important to ensure that the bike is properly set up to ensure safety.
Accessories: You can also find accessories for kid bikes, such as helmets, training wheels, and handlebar streamers, to enhance the biking experience and safety.
Maintenance: Teaching children about basic bike maintenance is essential. Regular checks of tire pressure, brakes, and other components can help keep the bike in good working condition.
When selecting a kid's bike, it's crucial to consider the child's age, height, and skill level to choose the right size and type of bike. Additionally, safety should be a top priority, so make sure to provide your child with the necessary safety gear, such as a helmet and pads, and teach them the rules of safe cycling.

User questions & answers
Question: | Does the 18" come with coaster brakes or handbrakes |
Answer: | It comes with both! |
Question: | Q:We (like others) are having problems with the chain falling off. It falls off every time my four year old rides his bike, is there a solution |
Answer: | My experience is with the 14” bike. Having read reviews with the chain falling off or the training wheels loosening, I first loosened the back wheel. I then put a piece of wood between the frame and the back wheel. I used the wood as a lever to make the chain taut, and then tightened the nut as I kept tension on the wood. I then attached the training wheels. We have had this bike over 4 months, I have never had an issue with the chain. |
Question: | We (like others) are having problems with the chain falling off. It falls off every time my four year old rides his bike, is there a solution |
Answer: | I haven't had that problem-my issue has been the training wheels loosening needing tightening every couple days. Sounds like they need to replace it if the chain always slips ugh....otherwise I really like how it rides for him. |
Question: | can I purchase training wheels for the 18" bike? My son is 46", but needs training wheels still |
Answer: | Dear Customer, as our 18" bike don't include training wheels, so if you need training wheels, Please buy it from those sellers Here are the links: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07QMS8KGJ?ref=myi_title_dp https://www.amazon.com/Herbalcandybox-Bicycle-Training-Replacement-Mounting/dp/B077GBVKVH/ref=sr_1_12?keywords=TRAINING+WHEELS&qid=1556004011&s=gateway&sr=8-12 https://www.amazon.com/ZOSEN-Training-Bicycle-Stabilizers-Support/dp/B07MJFNQXF/ref=sr_1_14?keywords=TRAINING+WHEELS&qid=1556004011&s=gateway&sr=8-14 https://www.amazon.com/Macy-Training-Childrens-stabiliser-Bike/dp/B07M7BCDWY/ref=sr_1_13?keywords=TRAINING+WHEELS&qid=1556004011&s=gateway&sr=8-13 |

Question: | Does this Classic version have a lever to quickly adjust the seat up and down |
Answer: | it has an Allum key slot, that really easily adjusts the seat.... |
Question: | what kind of packaging does this come in. Is it descrete packing |
Answer: | The packaging is not discreet. A label is put on the Strider box that has images of the bike. If you check off "this is a gift" at checkout though, the Strider box will be nested into a plain brown box that is discreet. |
Question: | What are the tires made out of? Would this be good for grass or dirt |

I've seen kids buzzing around on these bikes on dirt, concrete and grass. Check out strider videos on YouTube and see for yourself. |

Answer: | Hello, this is Kent with Strider Bikes. The seat height range on the Strider 12 Classic is 11" to 16". An optional XL Seatpost and Saddle extends from 15" to 19". How to Measure Your Child's Stand-Over Height
- What size bike should I get my child? Easy, the best size bike for your kiddo is the bike that fits them from day one. The best way to do that is measure their inseam.
- Yeah, but what about their age? Age is more like... an approximate fit. Inseam is an exact fit, trust us.
- Okay, got it. What's an inseam? Good question. Inseam is the distance between the ground and crotch.
- So, why is this inseam babble so important? We're all different heights and shapes, even when we're the same age. This is especially true with kids because they grow like crazy. By measuring inseam, you're making sure that your child's bike has the perfect fit.
- Right, how exactly do I measure this? Have your child stand up really straight with with their shoes on and back to a wall. Place a book between their legs and slide it up the wall to meet the crotch seam of their pants, just like they were sitting on a bike saddle. Measure from the top of the book to the floor and.... Bingo ! You have your inseam.
- DESIGN FOR KIDS - 1. This bike comes with stable training wheel early rider. 2.Quick release seat simplify the height adjustment. 3.Saddle with holder to learn riding when the training wheel is off. 4.Foot brake suitable for young rider don't have enough power to manipulate the hand brake.
- MINIMUM MAINTENANCE - Made of premium steel to survive the bumps of learning, the durable steel frame is backed by our limited lifetime warranty. The bike comes with black tire & single speed, only little maintenance needed due to the simple design.
- DIY DECAL & SAFE CHAIN GURAD - Your child will get a DIY decal, they could make a unique bike with the decal by sticking their name on the frame or chain guard. The chain guard well protects the chain, it will last longer than other bikes, your child will not get hurt when try to touch the chain.

User questions & answers
Question: | Would this bike be good for a 3 year old girl? I.e. is it too 'big' for a normal 3 year old girl |
Answer: | I don't have an F150 - but I could see how this would prevent the tailgate from opening fully. You are taking the bottom pin out, and letting it fall outward, right? I need to do that to open my Honda Pilot rear lift gate -- but that is going up and not down. |
Question: | What are the wheels made out of? Not the training wheels but the standard wheels? I just want to make sure they aren't plastic |
Answer: | Yes it does have a lot of play. I guess there's no way to fix it. Up and down, back and forth much to my dismay!😶 |
Question: | does the brake assembly required or come with assembled |
Answer: | Yes I have a beach cruiser it holds it at a angle but I have never had a problem carrying it |
Question: | can a 4 year old ride this bike |
Answer: | I don’t know. I use mine on a 2020 Outback with a 2” receiver. |

Question: | How am I supposed to secure the handle bar? I tightened the bolt at the top with Allen wrench but it didn't do anything |
Answer: | i don't know i returned the one i bought because it was banged up. |
Question: | Is the seat adjustable |
Answer: | Yes the seat is adjustable up or down. You just have to loosen the bolt a little and it moves then tighten the bilt back up. |
Question: | Do you think this is a good first bike for a 3 yr olds b'day? We thought this might be better than a trike, but I'm not sure |
Answer: | YES! 100%. We love it and got ours for our 3 year old. He is 4 now and still rides it. I'd say it has another year at least worth of riding! We love this bike. It's cute and made well. |
Question: | My grandson will be turning 5 next January will this bike be Ok for him? He has never had one. This will be his first bike |
Answer: | My boys got them at 4.5 years old, the seat is adjustable and it is an easy first bike. But if your grandson is tall, then he might outgrow it in a year. My 6 year old daughter, on the shorter side, uses a 16 inch wheel bike which will last her a couple of more years. |

User questions & answers

Answer: | The stand over height on this bike is about 17.5". Thank you. |
Question: | On the balance bike, I am wondering about the seat height from the ground to the shortest seat position |
Answer: | Not Sure of the exact weight but its around 15-18 lbs |
Question: | Where can you buy an extra tire and wheel frame |
Answer: | Yes, the 20" Elm comes with a kickstand. Thanks! |

On a SmartStart bike, there will be less wobble while the child pedals so they will feel more confident and comfortable while going through the learning process. Plus, the seat angle was changed so as the seat is raised the reach distance to the handlebar also increases; meaning that the bike will fit your child longer.

The perfect bike for the in-betweener
When they are too big for their old 16" with training wheels bike and yet still too small for a big-boy 20" bike....enter the Switch. It fits that inbetweener kid that is just a little short for his age, so the next side up looks way big...and might be dangerous to ride. The Switch is the bike that will bridge the gap.
One of the great details is that there is a coaster brake and a front and rear handbrake so this is a great way to transition to hand bike controls. They choose how they want to stop.
And it is from the brand that you remember that makes mountain and BMX bikes for the pros and for cool kids like yours.
How it all began:
Founded in 1974 in a Southern California garage, Mongoose was born when founder Skip Hess designed the MotoMag One wheel to make BMX bikes stronger with a rad new look. From there, BMX riding turned from an underground hobby to a full-blown phenomenon, with Mongoose's innovative products continually forging the sport's exciting new path. Mongoose riders dominated the BMX race circuit in the 1980s, while the company continued to push bicycle boundaries by pioneering the first wave of full-suspension mountain bike frames. Today, Mongoose continues to create products that push riders to thrilling new limits, whether it's ripping through gnarly mountain trails, stomping tricks in the park or owning the urban jungle. From reinventing the wheel to our current line of BMX, mountain and pavement bikes, Mongoose is synonymous with pure, unadulterated performance that always keeps the party going.

User questions & answers
Question: | I want a 26 inch blue bike but the title still says 24 inch even after pressing the 26 inch option |
Answer: | The ones that came in my order are Duro, made in Thailand. |
Question: | Hi, cam I attach a cat friendly basket or something for my 13 pound cat |
Answer: | I bought the rubber tire, and it is exactly as pictured, with the large, knobby bumps. It rides very smoothly, and I like the way it feels when riding; However, you mentioned the wheel, (the metal rim & spokes), and that is not part of the tire listed for sale. (Tire, Yes / Wheel, No) |
Question: | What is the frame size of this 26” tire bike |
Answer: | I have the 'V' facing forward on the top. To me, as the tire roles forward, the narrow part of the 'V' hits the water, etc., first, pushing the water out to the side as the 'V' get wider. Both my cars have similar 'V' pattern and they were mounted that way by the tire shop(s). So either everything I ride/drive is either 100% wrong or 100% right. Hope this helps. |
Question: | if you buy this, does it come all attached for you have to attach them from parts |
Answer: | It says 35 psi on my tires. |
