I bought this net as I needed it on super short notice from my client. The net itself is great. The included center strap is a joke. It was too long and hand no means of adjustment and it did not come with an attachment clip. So order an Edwards center strap to go with the net. Also be prepared to buy a new net cable. The one that comes with the system is too small and broke the first time I tightened the net up. So what you do is go to your local home Depot and buy 50 feet of 3/8 inch cable. Make sure it has a break strength of at least 840 lbs. and that it is encased in clear vinyl. Get the proper clamps. It should cost you about 40 bucks for everything. Install the net like normal, then tape one end of your new cable to the old one, be sure to cut the loop off the old cable and pull it, with the new cable taped to it, through the top of the net. Then finish putting the net system together. You will be a whole lot happier. If you planning on buying this net, do what I am suggesting or you will be very pissed. | Answer: | That is because the end without the loop is meant to be attached to an internal winding mechanism net post. The issue with this particular net is that if you tighten it to regulation tightness, it snaps! The net itself is a good deal, but the cable that comes with it is garbage. So here is what you do to solve your problem. Go to Home Depot and buy a cable, there are 50 foot cables that already have one end looped. Or by 50 feet of vinyl coated cable and make the loops yourself. There are things at Home Depot that you can buy that make doing this easy. So don’t be intimidated by the prospect, the sales people should be able to help you no problem. The most important thing you need to tape the new cable to the old cable so that when you pull the old cable out, it threads the new one in. Hope that helps you out. I build tennis court professionally so I highly recommend getting rid of the original cable. It’s junk. |
