Alternatively, you can retain an older Mac operating system on a separate drive partition. eMedia developers are currently working on software updates to support Catalina and future versions of macOS, but this is a major undertaking. eMedia is currently unable to foresee how long it will take to create these new versions. If you purchased your eMedia software on or after September 7, 2019, upon receiving proof of purchase eMedia Music will provide you with a free upgrade to a macOS 10.15 (Catalina)-compatible version of an eMedia application when it becomes available. User questions & answers

Question: Does anyone know how it connects to Yamaha clp
Answer: Make sure your keyboard is connected and recognized by your computer via USB/MIDI (e.g., proper drivers installed, if required). Please ask Yamaha for help if that part gives you trouble. Once you have established that your keyboard is recognized by your computer, then launch eMedia Piano and Keyboard Method and open "Instrument Setup" from the Options menu. Click the checkboxes are follows: 1) Electronic keyboard/piano, 2) Yes (connected via USB/MIDI), and finally 3) select "from my keyboard (speakers or audio output)" since your keyboard will produce its own sounds (best option for lowest latency). To confirm that everything is working correctly, play a few notes on your piano. You should see the "Keyboard test" light turn green in the window. Close the "Instrument Setup" window, and you're ready to go. You will hear the lesson content (songs, videos, etc) from your computer speakers, but the sound of your playing will come from your Yamaha piano. I hope that helps!
Question: Does this come with a midi-usb connector
Answer: Dear Molivia, my apologies for the delay. Since I bought the digital version (image of dvd plus the key) Im not sure! but it can be easily acquired here in Amazon, like I did. http://www.amazon.com/HDE-Cable-Converter-Music-Keyboard/dp/B001LJUVO4/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1386874498&sr=8-1&keywords=midi+usb.
Question: There are multiple MIDI keyboard sizes on Amazon from 25 to 88 keys. What is the minimum number of keys needed to successfully play all featured songs? I'd hate to be playing along and run off the end of the keyboard
Answer: Chiming in from eMedia here. All of the songs and exercise in this curriculum can be played with a four octave (e.g., 49-key) keyboard. If you already one of these you will have no trouble using this course. If you are shopping for a new keyboard, you may wish to consider your future needs beyond the eMedia software. The range of a five octave keyboard is usually enough to accompany yourself with your left hand as you play a melody with your right hand, and if you search for "eMedia piano pack" you'll see a few inexpensive options that we offer bundled with this software. That said, the full range of the piano is a joy to experience so go for the full 88-keys if you have the budget. Wishing you lots of success!
Question: I was led to beleive by some of the answers here that this program cam with a cable. But I didn't get one. Was there supposed to be any cables provided? I think my keyboard (also new and still in the box) only has a USB port. What cable would I need? *very blonde today* thanks for your patience
Answer: Hi Julia...no, the software does not come with any type of cables. The answer to what type of cable you need to buy depends on what type of device you're planning on connecting to your keyboard. For example, if you're planning on using a computer - all computers use a rectangular connector (also known as a 'Type B' connector). You need to look at the back of your keyboard and determine what type of connector it requires. It may be rectangular (like your computer) or it may be square (also known as a 'Type A' connector. This will tell you if you need a Type A (because the keyboard has a square connector)/Type B cable (standard rectangular connector), or a Type B/Type B Cable. The Type A/Type B is most common and is nothing more than a standard printer cable. You can find those for around $6. No need to spend any more than that. Hope this helps.

Get Interactive Feedback

Instant Feedback is available for both MIDI and acoustic pianos. It shows you when you play the correct notes as you progress through a melody. Your computer listens as you play and highlights correctly played notes in green. As you reach your goal of playing the melody correctly, you’ll discover that reading music notation is easier than you ever thought possible!

Interactive Evaluation Feedback is more detailed and requires a MIDI keyboard to be connected. It works on chords as well as melodies. It can give you details like 'you played this note late' or 'you played B instead of C.'

Built-in Piano Tools

The Note Tracker and Finger Tracker tools show you the note you play as music notation and on eMedia’s Animated Keyboard. You’ll be able to correct your playing and learn to read music faster!

Included are a digital metronome to keep you on rhythm and a recorder to help gauge progress and share your playing with others.

Enhanced multi-track audio and colorful MIDI accompaniments enhance the learning experience.

Product description

There's never been a good online solution for learning piano... until now.

Online piano lessons have been plagued with problems. From the frustration of not being able to clearly see the teacher demonstrate to figuring out how to keep track of sheet music, they've been far from ideal. Skype just isn't built for music lessons. And while in-person piano lessons can be great, let's be real—they're a huge hassle. There's so much wasted time from driving and waiting around, and it's hard to work up the motivation to practice songs between lessons.

We looked at the problems of both online and in-person piano lessons and came up with a solution that actually works.

Live remote piano lessons with McCarthy Music can be done from the comfort of home (or wherever you are!). You can chat online with teachers before booking, and your schedule is always in your control. The software is loaded with features to accelerate your learning, yet it's easy to use. You can keep archives of all your lessons, automatically organized. The interactive scoreviewer makes practice fun. And we're adding cool new features all the time (we're always open to ideas; just drop us a line).
