Question:	Are these machined from a single piece of steel, or is the bit crimped into the 1/4" hex shank
Answer:	No. In fact, I don't know of such a thing. Most cordless tool manufacturers make a drill, impact driver (this one) and a "screwdriver". The screwdriver is basically a hybrid drill/impact driver. It takes the motor, transmission and clutch from a drill, while borrowing the smaller form factor and 1/4" hex quick-change collet from an impact driver. Lastly, if you're concerned about being able to do drilling or screw driving tasks that are traditionally done with a light duty drill, don't be. Many manufacturers are now making "impact rated" drill bits, because impact drivers are more than capable of drilling holes. Lastly, the impact function combined with the various speed settings is what makes this tool so dead simple for driving an array of screw-type fasteners. From machine screws on small parts/furniture to large lag bolts in wood. I use mine for absolutely everything, including baking.
