  6. Finger Rests: Many Alfie grooming scissors have finger rests or ergonomic handles for comfort during extended grooming sessions. This helps reduce strain on the hand and wrist.

  7. Safety Tips: Some Alfie grooming scissors feature rounded safety tips on the blades to prevent accidental nicks or cuts to your pet's skin.

  8. Maintenance: It's important to regularly clean and maintain grooming scissors to keep them in optimal condition. This includes cleaning off any hair or debris and occasionally sharpening the blades.

  9. Pet Safety: When using grooming scissors, it's crucial to be careful and gentle to avoid causing any discomfort or harm to your pet. Be patient and use a calm and gentle approach during the grooming process.

Alfie grooming scissors are designed to help pet owners maintain their pets' coats and keep them looking tidy and healthy. Regular grooming not only enhances your pet's appearance but also promotes their overall well-being by preventing matting, reducing shedding, and ensuring their fur remains free of tangles and debris. Question: Where is this set made
Answer: Hi Kim,Amazon reached out to me because I purchases this set and could answer your question. The set is made in China. I remember they were OK for the price. She is a professional groomer and said they were worth the price.Ann
Question: I just got this set and don't know how to use the 2-sided razor clipper. No instructions. Can anyone help? Thanks
Answer: Me too! Hope someone can answer your question.
Question: Does the razor trimmer work. I find reviews on the scissors but not the cutter
Answer: I found that the razor works, but is frustrating to use because of the size and shape. I gave up.

Why grooming?

Grooming is a serious part of your pet's health. Brushing and combing help to remove dead hair and dirt and prevent matting. Pets who are regularly groomed incline to have a healthier and shinier coat because it stimulates the blood supply to the skin. Grooming your pet can also be a nice way to bond with your pet, and it's important to get him used to it from an early age. Many pets learn to see their routine brushing as an alternate petting, another source of affection and attention. A good quality brush and comb will help you with your pet's coat, but also remember that your pet's eyes, ears, and nails require attention as well.

How often to brush your pet?

Ideally you want to brush your pet every day to start. This will get him used to being groomed so you can avoid brushing-related behavior problems in the future. How often you brush your pet after he's used to it will depend on the length of his coat. You can stick with once a day, but most short-haired pets only need to be brushed once a week. Pets with thick coats will need to be brushed two or three times a week, more often during the beginning of spring and fall when shedding is the worst. pets with long hair will likely require daily grooming to avoid tangles or mats. If you fit pet brushing into your daily routine, you'll keep your pet's coat clean and healthy and build his trust in you.

How to groom?

First, brush the coat to loosen mats. Split the mat into sections and place the comb under the mat with the dull side against your pet's skin. Place your fingers between the comb and the skin to prevent pulling of the skin. Slowly move the comb through the mat with a saw like action to cut through the mat. Comb through the coat to collect all loose and dead hair. It is recommended to demat before bathing as water will tighten the mat.

  • Comb measures 7.5"L x 1.25"W. The shears measures 6"L x 2"W
  • Trips to the professional groomer can really add up. This Pet Home Grooming Kit from Alfie Pet keeps your pets nice and tidy for a fraction of the cost. Compact and easily portable, ideal for travel or home use. A great value for an easy to use grooming tool.
  • Round-Tip Trimming Scissors is ideal for finish trimming and safe for delicate areas.
  • Curved Shear is especially useful on thick, curly coats. Ideal choice for Standard Poodle top knots and thick coated Bichon heads. Razor sharp edge provides effortless shaping and finishing of all coat types. Cutting Shear and Thinning Shear are constructed of stainless steel and come with finger-rest for extra control and comfort. The included Pet Razor Grooming Trimmer gives you a convenient groom in minutes by simply combing the trimmer through your pet's hair
  • Features stainless steel construction and come with finger-rest for extra control and comfort. Great all around scissors.

User questions & answers

Question: Are these shears serrated
Answer: no, not serrated. I wouldn't recommend them. The price is too good to be true and I found them poorly made. They fell apart at the center and I haven't figured out yet how to tighten the blue nut to keep them together without being so tight that it keeps the 2 blades working smoothly without locking up. I'm pretty disappointed with these shears.

What is the usage of the scissors?

Straight Scissors: The most popular of all scissors because they are made in a large selection of sizes and weights and have various blade lengths.

Thinning Scissors: Used to thin out hair on a thick coat. They have one fine-toothed blade and one cutting blade. They will only remove some of the hair, thinning it out, rather than cutting it away.

Curved Scissors: These scissors are curved slightly towards the tip of the scissors. They are needed to easily trim and shape the fur around the contour of the dog’s body.

Why grooming by yourself?

Regular grooming keeps your dog clean, healthy, and comfortable. Trips to the professional groomer can really add up and you can save some money by grooming your pet at home. Besides, grooming can be a bonding experience with your pet and we hope you enjoy this new skill. And once you master the basics, let your creativity flow and try out some of the more adventurous clips and shears.

How often should we cut the hair

If your pet has a continuously growing coat, trimming every 6-8 weeks is ideal. If you are able to brush your pet regularly and prevent mats from forming, grooming is not as necessary, but if your pet matts easily you may need to clip the coat short more often.

Grooming an Anxious Dog? Try These Tips

1. Music soothes the savage - Playing music is often relaxing to dogs, some dogs enjoy having a television with nature programming

2. Try to begin grooming with brushing and let the dog relax a little so he feels more comfortable before you spring something on him that could cause him to become anxious, such as trimming his nails

3. Give treats throughout the process and talk to him. Make sure the fun and rewards don't end

  • The shears measures 6.5"L x 2"W , the round head one measures 4"L x 2"W, the comb measures 7.5"L x 1.25"W
