Answer:	I had the same issue when it just arrived. I almost returned the whole package. Try shaking and rubbing the pellets so that they start smelling a bit. You may also try not giving her alternatives, but be careful that she doesn't starve.

Answer:	I'm not sure how many cups but I have 2 chinchillas and this fills their food bin for months at a time. I've bought 2 bags over the past 1.5 years or so and they still have a lot left. They free feed I might add, bowls are always full. And they eat a lot. They're little piggies!
