Answer:	I use mine on a wood floor. I don’t know that I would use on top of straw. I used mine for dogs and they seemed comfortable sleeping just on the mat as it was warm.
Question:	Phm-18 vs phm-18r? what is the difference other than price? i do not see a rheostat, even though the model 18r is supposed to come with one
Answer:	I have the 18 x 18 with the rheostat. The difference is the one without the rheostat will maintain temp, 37 degrees above ambient air temp. The one I have has a high and low setting. the high setting will go 37 degrees above ambient air temp and the low is 20 degrees above ambient air temp. I use it in the winter time for my sulcate tortoise who is kept outside. I keep it on low when the night temps are below 55 to about 40. if temps drop below 40 degrees I put it on high. my tortoise did well last winter, I thought the price was worth it. I live in Arizona.
Question:	what is the wattage of this pad ? Could it be mounted vertical to a wall
Answer:	Max input 120 V. 300 W. has 4 mounting holes so that it can be mounted on a vertical wall. I use it outside with a long heavy duty extension cord to an outlet connected with our pool pump. no problems with it. I use it to heat a hide for a sulcate tortoise.
Question:	does anyone have experience using this with rabbits? I worry how easy it might be for them to chew the cord/get at the heating elements
Answer:	I bought this for my dog and he refused to sleep on it. I would think your rabbits would chew through the cord. Why don’t u get them a wooden box and fill it with straw or appropriate bedding materials for rabbits?

Answer:	It is just a thermostat. It works with anything heat outputting, like a heating lamp. The probe senses the temperature and turns the power on or off to whatever you plug into it.
Question:	how many mats can be connected to this
Answer:	There is only one outlet on the thermostat. However, being that the thermostat is rated for 1000 watts, you can connect a power strip and connect multiple heating mats provided you do not exceed the units power rating. Just to be safe, I wouldn't plug in more than half the rated power (i.e. 500 watts). But for those 17 watt heating mats, that's a lot of mats!

Answer:	With the wattage and amperage it says it can supply it should easily be able to handle 2 lamps. Just run a strip off the plug and only have them 2 lamps controlled by the thermostat. AGAIN, as long as it will handle what they say it can handle. A 100watt bulb should only pull just under 1 amp.

Answer:	It is waterproof - I have watered plants that are on it so I guess it will work - I am only a customer like you and do not know for sure

Answer:	Yes, it can read room temperature, however it's the soil temperature that helps the seedlings grow. Also, I believe when it reaches set temperature it has a delay before turning back on. So use sand or rocks to retain the heat longer.
Question:	Anyone use this on a 20 gallon long tank for a leopard gecko
Answer:	I use mine to heat my 29 gallon reptile aquarium. Get the thermostat for it because these mats run at about 100 degrees without it.
Question:	can you put splitter on controller and run multiple mats
Answer:	Yes. I currently have two mats. I use them for my leopard gecko tanks and have them connected to a single thermostat to keep it a certain temp. They run off the same thermostat and have been working great for months now :)

Question:	How do you secure this strip around the brewing jar
Answer:	I use a rubber band to secure mine. Velcro strips or gaffer's tape would also work. If you're using this to brew kombucha or a comparable drink, whatever you do, don't set the jar on the heating pad, which is what another user recommended. That's the last thing you'd want to do. Doing this offsets yeast growth and will ruin batches. The variance in temperature throughout the container will also be greater.
Question:	can I rap this around a one gallon flower pot to keep the soil warm , for a rare topical plant i have , to keep it warm in teh winter months
Answer:	I'm sure you could, because it is a gentle heat hovering around 70*. You could set the planter inside another container inserting the heater between the two pots! Just be sure the plant pot is large enough for the root system, because with the warmth your plant will continue to grow throughout the winter.
Question:	Anybody use this for Kefir
Answer:	The optimal temperature is 37 °C (98.6 °F) so unless your ambient is at or above body heat, Kefir will benefit from a bit of extra heat. It will not grow well under 20 °C (68 °F) or over 45 °C (113 °F). Note that the 3" x 20" strips will wrap around a 6-7" jar.

Question:	Does this come with a thermostat? If so can it be bypassed so that I can use an external thermostat
Answer:	It does not come with a thermostat
Question:	Can it be used where it will get wet? Also, how many watts does it use
Answer:	The small size draws about 7 watts and the medium draws 12 watts. No, it can't be used where it can be wet/constantly soggy. The mat isn't designed to be immersed and although its durable and resilient to liquid (such as your animal defecating on it) it is not designed to be constantly wet. The connection point between the plastic mat and the electric cord is not water tight and you would short it out very quick and run the risk of electrocuting your animal. This device is a 'spot clean only' kind of thing like most heat mats. If you are looking for something that can be immersed in water/constantly soggy, hunt for an aquarium heater. There are 'under gravel' heaters that are designed for small fish tanks such as the Hydor 7.5 Watt Slim Heater for Bettas up to 5 Gallon Tanks. Just search for undergravel heaters and a few will come up. These types of heaters are designed for immersion in water and are typically mat-like in appearance
Question:	Does this heat pad need to be plugged into a special outlet
Answer:	I personally don't have mine plugged into a thermostat and it seems to do okay for leopard geckos with substrate/slate over it. Its pretty consistent and I haven't seen any fluctuations. With eco-earth over/slate over it, the highest temp for me is 93-95. The center hottest part while bare (about the size of a dime) will hit 105ish while the fringes are around 80. But do grab a heat gun and double check if it'll work for your animal 😁
Question:	Can you place it inside a wooden terrarium if you cover it with substrate and use a thermostat
Answer:	A better method is to use double-sided tape or velcro type stuff and mount it under a piece of tile, then lay that in the cage. Use a lamp dimmer on it if the room is over 72 deg. You can lay a smaller tile or flat stone on one end of the large piece to further make a temp gradient .

Answer:	All of our circuits are 20 amps, and we have 2 units operating at the same time without electrical issues

1. How Pymeter control temperature?

Temperature controller is actual Heating/Cooling controller, thus MUST SET ON-Temp to turn ON Heating/Cooling, and MUST SET OFF-Temp to turn OFF Heating/Cooling.

Heating starts at LOW Temp [ON-Temp(1oN, 2oN)], stops at HIGH Temp [OFF-Temp(1oF, 2oF)], thus for heating MUST SET 1oN(2oN) LESS than 1oF(2oF);

In heating mode, 1oN(2oN) is the minimum temp you allow, 1oF(2oF) is the maximum temp you allow.

Cooling starts at HIGH Temp [ON-Temp(1oN, 2oN)], stops at LOW Temp [OFF-Temp(1oF, 2oF)], thus for cooling MUST SET 1oN(2oN) GREATER than 1oF(2oF).

In cooling mode, 1oN(2oN) is the maximum temp you allow, 1oF(2oF) is the minimum temp you allow.

2. Reading temp is inaccurate?

Every Pymeter controller is calibrated before come out of factory, it is reading temp accurately!

Please don't compare it to common inaccurate thermostat、thermometer or temp gun. If you doubt Pymeter controller accuracy, please calibrate with ice-water mixture (it is 32F when ice is melting), and you will see which device is accurate then.

3. Beeper keeps sounding?

Probably it is the Alarm settings ( AL、AH、d7 ) you set are NOT the right temperature you want. AL is low temperature alarm(it sounds when current temp is AL or Lower), AH is high temperature alarm(it sounds when current temp is AH or Higher), d7 is difference alarm(it sounds when the temp deviation between sensor 1 and sensor 2 is over d7). If you don't need alarm function, please don't change the values of AL、AH、d7, the default values usually won't trigger alarm. You can factory reset by switching temp unit from F to C in setting.

Question:	Can I use this item with the probe submerged under water
Answer:	I don't have one of these, but from what I know about seed germination, if you used it for that, it should be submerged in about 1/2 inch of water. So being that it says seed germination in the title description, id assume so, but I don't own one and cant speak for the manufacturer. I tell you what though, if I bought this for seed germination, I would submerge it without thinking twice about it, and if it broke because of me submerging it, id be pissed. It would be like buying a swim suit that you cant get wet.

Answer:	Yes, I've left mine off for a month and when I turned it back on it had the same temperature setting.

Answer:	The thermostat is capable of controlling multiple mats. It has a single two prong (no grounding pin) 110 V outlet into which the mat plugs in. If you were to use an extension cord or adapter with two prongs that has a couple of plug ins for two or three mats, it should work out well for you.

Answer:	Ours is a 34 gallon glass tank but it can be used for any size. The temperature module we installed in the wall and you control the heat. We attached ours to the outside bottom of the tank. We also cut a tank length board and covered that with foil tape. Set the board on the stand and then the tank on the board. Our python will stay primarily on the hot side( heat mat) and our tank stays at the perfect mix of hot side ( 90*. F ) and warm side ( 80*F) we keep a large bowl of water in which the heat mat helps with hunidity. The answer to your question is that it will work on any size Med to large tank.

Question:	Where is the temperature sensor located
Answer:	This doesn’t really have a temperature sensor. It has one dial that turns the heat on and from low to high however no gauge or markings of any kind to state temperature or how low or high the heat is. Just a dial with no markings.
Question:	Could it be used for a newly hatched chicken
Answer:	No. What you need is a brooder along with the proper light. Local feed stores that sell livestock items should carry it. Newly hatched chicks need to get in and out of the heat if they desire. I raised many chickens years ago (250 at a time) and never used a heating pad. I honestly do not think it would be beneficial for the babies. Hope this helps.
Question:	Can this be put under reptile carpet or other substrates
Answer:	Yes, it is ok my friend. But you have to pay attention to this is not a completely waterproof pad.
Question:	how to you secure it to the outside bottom of the tank
