  5. Variety: Exo Terra offers a variety of bulb types and wattages to accommodate different reptile and amphibian species and their specific lighting requirements. It's essential for keepers to choose the right type of bulb based on the species they are caring for.

  6. Maintenance: Like all light bulbs, Exo Terra bulbs have a limited lifespan and should be replaced periodically. Regular replacement is necessary to ensure that the bulbs continue to provide the required UVB and heat for your pets.

  7. Consulting Experts: When selecting lighting for your reptiles or amphibians, it's often a good idea to consult with experts in herpetology or experienced reptile keepers who can provide guidance on the specific lighting needs of your pets.

In summary, Exo Terra light bulbs are specialized lighting products designed to meet the unique requirements of reptiles and amphibians kept in captivity. These bulbs play a crucial role in providing UVB, heat, and full-spectrum lighting to support the health and well-being of these animals in a captive environment. Exo Terra Repti-Glo 2.0 Compact Fluorescent Full Spectrum Terrarium Lamp, 13-Watt (Natural Light)

Exo Terra

Based on 590 reviews Check latest price

Product description

The Exo Terra Repti Glo 2.0 is a general light source with a high visual light output and a very high color rendering index (CRI), but a lower UVB radiation. This bulb is suitable for snakes, all amphibians (frogs, toads and salamanders) and nocturnal animals. Plants will thrive under this light as well. It is also a perfect complementary light to a UVB bulb to boost visual light. The advantage of the Exo Terra Repti Glo Compact Fluorescent bulb is its size and the fact that it is self-ballasted. A regular screw fitting is sufficient to operate these bulbs. The spiral shape of the bulb enables vertical or horizontal mounting without compromising performance. It is recommended to combine a high UVB output (Repti Glo 5.0 and 10.0) with a very high visual light output (Repti Glo 2.0) for optimal results. Fluorescent bulbs do not provide sufficient heat. A separate heat source is required in addition (ex: incandescent basking lamp).

Over the years, Exo Terra has become the market leader in reptile products for the natural terrarium. This achievement was made possible by the philosophy of successful, continuous innovation, which has become a basic underlying commitment, a culture and an attitude. Exo Terra has designed and developed a wide range of reptile accessories, terrarium decor, and terrarium kits for a variety of reptiles and amphibian pets including bearded dragons, geckos, snakes, crested geckos, turtles, chameleons, leopard geckos, lizards, and frogs. User questions & answers

Question: can you put these in your house? would it fit a regular light socket
Answer: They fit in a regular light socket but I don't think that would be a practical use for them. To benefit from the full spectrum of light your reptile has to be fairly close in distance to the bulb.
Question: I have a 30 gallon tank for large red neck slider turtle and also a heater in the tank. Do I need one or two bulbs? which bulb do I use and what size
Answer: One bulb should be just fine
Question: Where do you buy the light bulb holder
Answer: amazon
Question: Is the reptiglo 2.0 good for birds? we have way too many biting & disease-carrying insects here for me to ever take my eclectus queen outside
Answer: No, it's probably not enough UVB. We would suggest the ZooMed Avian Sun bulb.

User questions & answers

Question: gln 36" wide tank for bd. i am replacing lights for better temp regulation. is 160w ok or should i go with lower wattage. do i need other lighting
Answer: as a person who has owned a lot of bearded dragons and has raised and bread them; it depends on the beardies age. if the dragon is young I would go for hotter like 150 or maybe 160 depending on your cage for a hotspot (you need 110 f) but for an older bearded dragon you should definitely go a lower watt like 100.
Question: How often should be changed to ensure that the reptile gets the amount of uv light it needs? or what is the lifespan of the bulb
Answer: The bulb lasted us about a year or a tad over a year. We have this light on 12 hours a day. We have it set with a timer to turn on at 7am and off at 7pm.
Question: Does the bulb have a warranty
Answer: I do not know, but mine went out after about a month so I bought a Mega-Ray bulb and it has been going strong for 5 months now.
Question: I have a 75 gallon tank for my senior bearded dragon and i accidentally bought the 160w bulb. Would it make it too hot for her? Im scared to use it
Answer: The 160w bulb gets up to 102° at its hottest point (4 inches away from the bulb). Considering beardies can withstand temperatures up to 104°+, you should be ok. Just make sure their peak basking spot is between 6-8" away and always make sure to have a cooling spot that is approximately room temperature (basically just an area where the light wouldnt hit or a place with no heating pad)

Exo Terra

Based on 3 reviews Check latest price

Product description

The Exo Terra Repti Glo 10.0 has a very high UVB output similar to that associated with desert environments. Desert locations receive more direct sunlight than any other because of fewer clouds, less air humidity and no plants or trees to provide shade. Therefore desert reptiles are more exposed to UV radiation than any other type of reptile. This bulb can also be used on screened terrariums or terrariums with dense screen covers to ensure UVB penetration. Dense screens can filter out up to 50% of the UVB rays. User questions & answers

Question: Is it safe for people to use or be around? What other uv light does it produce
Answer: It should be safe around humans, as it works as the sun to help reptiles to help their bones, the uvb light. like any lifht don't stare into it. I haven't had any problems. Good luck.
Question: Good day are these 110v 0r 220v
Answer: well right off its bottle it says "26w 120v 60Hz 0.34a" so 120v, hope that helps
Question: Does this emitt UVA rays
Answer: Not enough to keep a bearded dragon healthy. You need one that fills the entire tank.
Question: i have a russian tortoise will this work for her
Answer: These will work for the UV B rays needed for most reptiles and amphibians to make vit D so they can absorb calcium but it does not provide heat. You need a separate bulb for that. depending on the size of your enclosure you may be able to use a regular old fashion light bulb to give enough heat. That is what I use for my bearded dragons and it keeps them at the ideal temp on the hot side of tank.

The SunRay Metal Halide Bulb is an all-in-one bulb that combines very high light output and heat radiation with optimal levels of UVA and UVB. The Exo Terra SunRay delivers a consistent spectrum, which closely matches that of natural sunlight, contributing to the animal’s overall wellbeing. For use with PAR 30 Type Metal Halide bulbs only (e.g. Exo Terra SunRay).Over the years, Exo Terra has become the market leader in reptile products for the natural terrarium. User questions & answers

Question: Can I mount this 12" above my reptile's cage or do I need to buy an extension of some sort
Answer: It comes with a stall of sorts that is adjustable and can be mounted anywhere with a sticky pad to add to the adjustability. :) I take a drill though and make 2 holes on either corner of the sticky pad and use screws to mount it to the wall. Only because of my heavy humidity levels with chameleon and uncertainty of the sticky pads life.
Question: Can this be used with a dimmer controller
Answer: No, that requires a different kind of ballast. The ballasts in these units are not dimmable.
Question: Is this type of lighting with a 70W bulb in it sufficient for baby tortoises
Answer: Yes. But you will not even need the 70 watt. The 35 watts give out a ton of UVB but the 50 watt would probably be a good bet for your tortoises to be on the absolute safe side. Just make sure you don't get a unit or bulb that has been returned by some schmuck.
Question: How long do the bulbs last at proper UV output before needing replacement
Answer: These bulbs give out UVB for more than a year. Metal halide bulbs are designed to last more than a year. The UVB is strong in these bulbs for about 8 months. It DOES start to lessen after but still gives out about 40 if not a little more after that. These are great bulbs that I use for chameleon almost exclusively. And chameleons have very specific requirements that this fills.

Exo Terra Halogen 50W Basking Spot Light, 4-Pack

Exo Terra

Based on 44 reviews Check latest price

Product description

Halogen bulbs are actually an advanced variation of incandescent bulb technology. One of the major factors that shorten an incandescent bulb's lifespan is the evaporation of the tungsten within the bulb. By adding a trace amount of a halogen gas (methyl bromide) inside the bulb, a chemical reaction removes the tungsten from the wall of the glass and deposits it back onto the filament, extending the life of the bulb. The higher temperatures of halogen lighting contribute to a whiter light, a higher light output and a greater efficiency. Key Features: Highly energy efficient broad-spectrum daylight bulb Optimizes heat penetration through increased infrared levels Enriches coloration through Neodymium Enriches coloration through Neodymium Can be combined with Night Glow or Heat Glow for a 24-hour cycle.

The Exo Terra Sun-Glo Halogen Neodymium Terrarium Lamp also offers an increased level of infrared penetration for optimal thermo-regulation. Halogen bulbs are actually an advanced variation of incandescent bulb technology. One of the major factors that shorten an incandescent bulb's lifespan is the evaporation of the tungsten within the bulb. By adding a trace amount of a halogen gas inside the bulb, a chemical reaction removes the tungsten from the wall of the glass and deposits it back onto the filament, extending the life of the bulb. The higher temperatures of halogen lighting contribute to a whiter light, a higher light output and a greater efficiency.
