Answer:	14" w/o light & 16" with the light...base about 1-1/8" beyond that.

Answer:	Yes, that's where it goes. No worries, though. It's a standard water pump (& its cord) designed to be submerged. Your fish won't get electrocuted...unless you have an electric eel swimming around. ;)
Question:	What is the difference between this tank and the Marineland Contour
Answer:	I called Marineland and they told me the only difference between the Portrait 5 gallon and the Contour 5 gallon is in the curvature of the lighting system. The lights themselves are identical (9 white LEDs and 6 blue LEDs). They also advised me that they are no longer making the Contour 5 gallon because except for the minor difference in the lighting structure they are exactly the same tank with the same filtration components. FWIW, I bought the 5 gallon Portrait and am very happy with it.
Question:	Can I buy this for my Betta fish
Answer:	This tank is an excellent choice for bettas, thanks for asking! The pump is fully adjustable, down to 35 gph, and the size is perfect for a betta fish. You can place a heater in the front portion of course, and it is easy to maintain.

Question:	How do you change the filter on this clear aquarium? It looks like it would have to happen from the bottom...or do you reach all the way through it
Answer:	The filter is changed by reaching into the tank- the center air bubbler tube is attached to the filter base- twist and remove. Very simple. Very easy. The airstone is basically in the same place, too.
Question:	Will this tank be suitable for a beta fish? Is the water flow to strong
Answer:	The Beta I have are happy in a talk with out water flow. I have goldfish in the tank as they need the air and filter.
Question:	Set up my brand new 4 gallon tank, put water in, plug it in and the mcr light will not work. It does not work by using the remote or the switch
Answer:	Hello. Sounds like the remote needs to sync with the light. First on the clear box that is on the light cord make sure the switch is pressed on the (-) side down, the light should briefly flicker. You will then make sure the battery on the remote is placed correctly (if you have the black side of remote facing up, you should see the (+) sign on the battery). Next, stand in front of the tank with the remote near the lid and press the on and off button a few times so the sensor can sync with the remote. Press any of the colors on the remote and the light should then work. We hope this helps!
Question:	Can I just leave the air filter 24/7 or I have to turn them off at night
Answer:	An air filter in an aquarium should always be turned on, as you say, 24/7. I do not recommend to turn it off at night at all, poor fish, that’s where they get their oxygen from.

Answer:	My son use a fully grown plant . He bought small Peace Lily then he took all soil off and washed the roots before put the root in the hole.

Answer:	No but... they eat the build up on the roots doesn't hurt the plant or fish BUT...does say need to feed protein pellets as well. Hardest part for me was getting the roots through the holes.

Answer:	if you look up aquaponics you will find more information about what types of plants can be grown. We are growing herbs and a bamboo stem. In order for the plan or herbs to be grown they have to be already growing with roots so the roots can be immersed in the water
Question:	could i keep a glass catfish in this
Answer:	No. Ghost/glass catfish are schooling fish and need to be kept in groups of six or more to avoid stress death. You'll need to look for a 30+ gallon to humanely care for them. A mere half gallon like this isn't suitable for ANY fish, let alone a schooling species.

Answer:	It was initially for the first month or so however now it is very loud as you hear the motor for the filter vibrate. I’ve had it for 6 months now and it’s been noisy for the majority of the time. I wish it was still quiet!

Answer:	The heater is a good idea if your home temperature is not consistent. Use treated tap the first time as fish need minerals too. When you do water changes, taking water out, fill with treated tap. But if you are just topping off for evaporation distilled or R.O. water is best as you do not wish to increase the mineralization in the tank beyond its original content. Question:	It says it comes with a pound of ceramic media. Does that mean just the brown rocks and not the white and greenery shown in the picture
Answer:	It does not come with any decorative items, it only comes with the substrate which is sort of gray and brown, it is not decorative, and even though 1lb seems like enough you will want to order more. The white rocks pictured is the "Zen pebble pack". The green plants shown are also ordered separately, I would recommend you go out and by live Marimo Moss balls- they are almost zero maintenance, and have all sorts of benefits.

The biOrb Filtration Cycle

1. Air driven filtration system creates vigorous water flow and a constantly changing water surface. This maintains oxygen saturation.

2. The circular flow of water then collects any fish waste on its way down.

3. It draws the waste through the ceramic media where the natural biological filtration absorbs some toxins. The freshly oxygenated water also feeds the bacteria.

4. Any remaining waste is trapped in the sponge cartridge. The water then passes through resin particles and natural stabilizers to remove toxic substances and keep the pH levels constant.

5. The clean water is then oxygenated as it flows back up the bubble tube to repeat the cycle.

Answer:	You don't NEED a heater for a betta, though it will most definitely prolong his life. You could probably fit a VERY small heater in here, for roughly a 2-5 gallon. But keep in mind with such a small tank, it could overheat the water and harm your fish. If this is for a betta, I'd highly recommend getting at least a 2 or 3 gallon. Bettas die by stress and unfortunately, get stressed pretty easy. This would work fine as a temporary home or as a quarantine for when a fish gets fin rot, ick, or whatever it may be. Also, don't use the divider and DO NOT keep multiple bettas in here, even with the divider. Only good reason to use the divider is if you have two bettas you want to mate and are introducing them to eachother. Sorry for flooding info, hope this helps!
