Answer:	I put the bio balls in first. then the ceramic. finally the filter pads in the same layer. i only use 3 stages leaving room for something else like carbon bags. i love mine it works great.. very quiet so when you start to hear a very minimal hum coming from your tank it is time to clean it. and finally make sure you have a towel with you when cleaning it you will lose a very small (2-4 ounces) amount of water when you disconnect it.

Answer:	Yes. I use this for my CST in a 55 gallon tank. This is a great filter. Remember, it is more about the media you use than the filter alone. Experiment with media to see what works best for you. For my turtle, I have found that layering sponges in the bottom tray from coarse, medium to fine and then using Matrix bio media in the next 2 trays and then using carbon and an ammonia neutralizing carbon in the last two trays works wonders. It really keeps my turtle tank clean. This filter is easy to use, prime and clean. Plus it is very affordable. All canister filters are basically equal, the media is what really matters.

Because the working principle of this machine is that its internal motor will drive the water to form a water cycle, allowing the water to pass through the machine continuously, and the UVC bulb installed inside the machine will sterilize and purify the water which passing through it. So the machin can use to kill the bacteria, viruses, and algae floating in the water, but it can't kill the hair algea which grow on the rocks or wall . becaue the hair algea will not pass throught the machine
Question:	How long will the UV bulb last if the unit is run 24 hours a day
Answer:	In the experimental test, the average life of the bulb is 8,000 hours, but in actual use, the life may not be exactly the same because of the different environments used in each home. But we offer a one year warranty, if any question , just send a message to me , i will solve in 24 hours. In addition, this machine can work 24 hours, but it is not recommended. Because it is not good for fish to completely kill all the bacteria, the water also includes beneficial bacteria. For example, if a person is in a sterile environment, the body will become weak. Answer:	I’ve never had a need to rinse the charcoal. A few passes through the rinse is fine. Been using these for years now and never had any clouding issues after replacing my canister with these

Answer:	You do not ever replace the ceramic media or bio-balls. Ever. The activated carbon should be replaced after 2 weeks or so. However, most aquarists will inform you never to use activated carbon. I don't, and my tanks are crystal clear.

Answer:	I sent mine back. It did not work. .. but bio balls are good for a long time.. I change out carbon about every 45 days on the filter I have now.

Answer:	There should be a pretty good deal 3 sets, the savings is like the cost of 2 and the 3rd either free or 50% off.You could get by with one, but I'd like to have a spare, so you aren't running out last minute looking to find.I bought extra as I thought would be even hard to find in future.But with canister, I suppose any filter media would actually work.I also suggest reading about carbon pads. Though they help deodorize the surrounding surface of tank and area, I read they only work a couple days and need to be changed more often then the filters. It doesn't really do anything as far as contributing to essential bacteria in the tank, the way the substrate you use does. Sorry that was such a long answer.

Tips for Usage and Maintenance:

Replacement frequency depends on the bio-load in the tank. The more fish you have, the more frequently a pad should be replaced.

Maintenance of Sponges:

The sponge will need to be rinsed every time it becomes dirty, about once every 1 to 4 weeks.

After 6 to 12 months’ usage, the micro holes of sponge is gradually clogged by the tiny debris. That’s when the sponge filter starts to lose its efficiency. So it is also recommended to replace the sponge once 6 to 12 months or when the sponge gets worn out.

And carbon, ammonia and phosphate pads will become chemically exhausted over time, so they are suggested to be replaced at least once per month.

Answer:	The Order of your filter media is of GREAT IMPORTANCE! First you need to know the direction of water flow through your filter. Some filters are top to bottom, some are bottom to top and some are outside to inside etc. You always want the dirty water to hit your coarse foam first, then medium foam, then fine foam and finally your polishing pads. Then, after the foam pads you put your biological media stones. You want to get as much of the debris out of the water before it hits your biological media so that it does not clog up the pores of the stones. The bacteria needs to be able to get into the fine pores of the stones and the more water flow you have across the stones the more effective the biological bacteria will filter the water and neutralize the nitrates and nitrites. It makes a significant difference which order you put the media! If you put your media in the wrong order you are preventing your nitrogen cycle from functioning at its most effective rate and creating a toxic situation for your fish! Remember Coarse foam to fine foam, then polishing pads, then bio-stones. Rinse your pads at least once a month and replace the polishing pads.

Answer:	Hello I have 3 sun sun canister filter. What you are experiencing is very normal, the carbon should be replaced on a monthly basis especially for 12 gold fish in a 36 gallon which would have a big bio load. Cleaning and filters sponges and replacing carbon on a monthly basis is the best bet for crystal clear water

Answer:	It does come apart. I thought the same thing but I grabbed the black part and pulled up. It is hard but it will come apart so you can clean the pump.

Answer:	You can use any filter rated for 30 Gallons+, so this filter, rated for a 75 gal tank, will work. More flow and filtration of water will not hurt your fish. The water will be very clean and your fish will be okay. However, be aware that extra filtration (i.e. a filter for a 75 gal tank on a 30 gal aquarium) will filter-away weekend feeder tabs faster than a filter rated for a 30 gallon tank, so if you plan extended travel, have an auto-feeder (or a friend) to ensure your fish do not starve. I learned this one the hard way :(

Answer:	I'm not sure if it is exactly the same as the SunSun, but I can tell you that this has been an excellent filter! I have 2 very large (dirty, ammonia emitting) goldfish in a 55 gallon, and my water is completely clear and sparkling! The directions to set up were pretty much impossible to figure out, but it is so easy and logical, I really didn't need them. Took me a while to figure out that the thing coming up from the intake tube is a skimmer that pulls the oils and debris from the surface. There are 4 trays that hold a lot of filter media. It is very quiet... I can't even hear it in the cabinet under my tank. I like this one because the UV light is removable for replacement without disassembling the whole thing. Tip: when you fill it with water to prime it, leave enough room to push the top down to clip. I didn't and it overflowed. It would have been nice to know that since I've never used a canister filter before. Just get it close and use the primer manual pump to finish when it is turned on. Hope this helps!

1. UV light/glass cover broken/doesn't work : if damaged, send us an email and some pictures about it, we will resend you a replacement. If not, rotate the top lid 180 degree, and try it again. Because there is only an inductive part on one side

3. Leaking: Please check if the glass cover was broken. If not, make sure all pieces are assembled correct, adjust the o-seal ring on the top lid and put the filter lower than your tank, and make sure water can get through the green hoses soomthly

5. Not pump water: Press the blue button on the top lid to compel the extra air out of the canister and try it again

Answer:	As far as limiting the flow, no you can't. You'd have to buy a pump that limits the output via flow adjustment. I can say temporarily I am running this though a 300-500GPH pump and it works just fine.
Question:	How effective is the cleaning system? Do the filters have to be removed a few times per month and cleaned or not
Answer:	For the longest time I've been convinced that a pond was just like a boat; the expense, aggravation and endless hours that go into maintaining one is simply the norm....but that all changed last year when I got the Grech filter!A cold snap in early November 2013 got the best of a friend's filter, splitting it wide open (thankfully!). Being on a budget he decided to take a chance and replace his old filter with the Grech CPF-2500. I'm glad he did because after seeing how well the Grech worked for his pond, I purchased one for myself! (I chose the CPF-5000 with the 18 watt UV bulb because I have a pretty large pond). These Grech filters are by far the best either of us has ever had! Not only does it out perform some of the pricey "dealer" filters like those that I had, it also requires less maintenance than some of those more expensive brands. I've used the Grech for almost two full seasons now and not only has it cut the amount of bio/enzymatic cleaners, clarifiers and algae control additives I need to use in half, the time I spend on pond maintenance has been cut by at least 80%! The filter is a little complicated to assemble the first time around. It's equally as complicated and also time consuming to break it all apart to do a full cleaning (especially the CPF-5000 as it has seven layers of filters). That said, you might only need to fully disassemble it for cleaning once in a seven/eight month season...and that's at the end of season!! I opened the pond using the Grech for the first time in 2014 and in record time (less than two weeks) the water was the clearest it had ever been....and without a single full filter cleaning!! I wasn't having any noticeable issues with water quality or flow but after running it from the open for over two months straight without a full cleaning, I just felt like it was too good to be true so I took on the dreadful task of pulling it apart. I quickly learned that 1) I probably could have waited longer to clean it and 2) totally dismantling the filter cartridges to clean it mid-season is completely unnecessary! Just like last year, I again only did one mid-season cleaning for all of 2015. This time I waited until I felt like the water flow seemed a little slower (three to four months after opening). This time I did not disassemble the filters from their cartridges and instead simply hosed them down really well, coming them from all sides. I also pressed each filter down to the center several times on each side to wash out the deep down crud while hosing. It worked perfectly and only took about 20 minutes start to finish. The backwash and self cleaning system for this filter is genius! The filter pads are shaped like cogs with notches around the outer edges. Connected to the cleaning handle is triangle shaft that goes the entire length of the filter which fits tightly into the notches on the filters. When cranking, the shaft uses the notches to rotate all the filters at one time while simultaneously pressing down into each filter and squeezing out the surface crud which then gets washed away through the backwash valve. Brilliant! I always clean in sets; 15-20 full cranks clockwise then 15-20 full cranks counterclockwise, waiting for the water to run clear before changing directions. I repeat the sets until the the water is no longer thick and dark while cranking. At the opening I did this every couple days until the pond was clear, after that weekly seems to be okay. It might take you 3 or 4 minutes each time. I'm closing, this is hands down the best filter ever!!

Question:	Will this be good in a 40 gallon breeder tank ? With sand ? Or should I just stick with 2 power filters
Answer:	I have two of these filters and I use one in a 55 gallon tank with pea gravel and it works perfectly. The other I use in a 100 gallon indoor pond and the water is crystal clear.
Question:	Can you use this filter for lower water level tanks such as turtle tanks
Answer:	I use this in my 55 gal turtle tank which has about 7" of water in it. I had to tape up the intake pipe joints to reduce air leaks and I had to manually prime the intake line to get it to start but it does work fine once the siphon gets started. I'm going to drill the tank below the water level and convert it to gravity fed because it's a real pain to get started due to the vertical distance the water has to travel to leave the tank.
Question:	Can I use this in a half full tank? I have a 20gallon long breeder tank a little over half full, about 11 or 12 gallons
Answer:	There is plenty of power in the pump but you will have to make some modifications to the fittings in order to extend the height in the tank. I set mine up for turtles and was able to get the water level 5 inches below the rim with the firings provided.
Question:	Can I use this on a 45g reef tank
Answer:	Yes it will work. But canister filters will harbor nitrates if not cleaned every week. A good protein skimmer and good water flow is much better for salt water. I would recommend a hang on back filter just to clear the debris and clarify the water as needed, it doesn't have to run constantly. Canister filters are not needed for reef aquariums. I bought this canister for my freshwater fish tank and it's decent for that.
