And the other ones are for the inlet and outlet...I think. It's been a while. The impeller and the canister lip I'm sure of. I'm not 100% on the inlet/outlet. I'm sorry.

Answer:	The inner diameter (ID) is 17mm, NOT 5/8". I have tried using many different 5/8" tube from hardware stores, and there are two consistent issues: 1) that stuff is not nearly as flexible as the original rena/api tubing, and 2) to fit it onto the canister requires a heat gun, and you have to cut it off the filter. If you're like me, and frequently lose siphon during water changes, 5/8" tube is impossible to work with. That's why I'm here buying this, because I've not found anything else that works, and I've tried all of my local (major metro) fish and reef stores.

Answer:	It's about 6"x6" square and 1" thick. I didn't measure, but that's within a half inch on the side measurements, and a quarter inch of the thickness1. So, no, you won't be able to get a 4' strip from it. You can buy filter material that is not cut down so small already, so that you can make custom shapes/sizes. I don't know of any that come large enough to make a 4', but perhaps a place that sells to professional aquariums would carry stuff that big.

Answer:	The XP-L only comes with 5 bio stars and a bag of carbon. The XP-L needs 30-35 bio stars and each bag of media is designated for a 55 gallon tank. So if you use Bio-Chem, Phos-zorb, carbon, or any other media you'll need two bags of each for this canister. U can also use bulk media and your own reusable bags. Not sure what is cheaper.
Question:	what gallon is this filter cartridge for
Answer:	According to testing it runs about 450 gph. This rating is what you commonly see when you look at a gph rate, but most companies test the product empty. Once you fill it with media and hook up the hoses and stuff you end up with about 200 gph. I set up my tanks with more filtration then a lot of people, so for me, this filter is ideal for a 55 gallon tank, or 75 gallon tank with medium bio-load. I ran two of these and two Emperor 400 filters on my 150 gallon tank with high bio-load and the water was clear. I mention this because the box states it can handle up to a 265 gallon aquarium, which it probably could if the tank was heavily plants and lightly stocked and the filter was cleaned every 2 weeks, which are things that usually don't happen.

BlackBush Algea is actually hundreds of different possible species, some grow with excess b12, some grow with other imbalances. what this WILL do, short term, is help reduce excess phosphates that throw off your tanks balance. You still need to find the root cause that your phosphates went up. excess food, phosphates are put into some water pH stabilizing products. cheaper food can be high in phosphates. plant food, tap water. something is a source. this will help you get the levels down (in addition to water changes) long enough to fix whatever the problem is. BBA can then be removed manually by scrubbing decorations, a bleach-water dip for plants, etc.. i never do that because I don't want to kill my beneficial bacteria colonies, and I'm afraid of not rinsing enough and wiping the tank. but there are guides out there if you're brave enough.

Answer:	Both of these are antibiotics, used only to combat bacterial infections in fish. API Fin & body cure is a combination of salt (sodium chloride) and doxycycline hyclate powder and can only be used in freshwater applications. Furan -2 contains Nitrofurazone and Furazolidone, a combination used to fight many gram negative and gram positive bacteria. Both are effective against a wide range of bacterial diseases in fish. They will not be effective against viral or parasitic (critters) diseases. If you have a saltwater aquarium, then of these two, you can only use the Furan-2. First know what you are trying to cure and if bacterial and freshwater then either might be effective. I have had mixed success with Furan-2 and have not tried API Fin and Body Cure.

Answer:	Certainly yes. I use it with a top filtration system. It works as long as it's in the path of the water flow. In my aquarium, I place the Zorb pouch under the filter sponge. This is definitely the best product that I have ever bought for my aquarium!

Answer:	NO, nitrate is the final, less harmful end product of your tanks natural biological filter, (Ammonia to nitrite to nitrate) Seachem makes a product call de-nitrate that can help but the quickest and easiest way to remove nitrates is your regular water changes, weekly 10-20%. Over feeding and no water changes causes nitrates to rise, shoot for less than 10ppm or even better 0. Ammonia & Nitrite (ite) are deadly in small amounts, if you have nitrate than your biological filter or simply put your tank is cycled and working correctly (good bacteria is doing its job) Water changes will prevent nearly all aquarium issues.

Answer:	Yes it does, intake and outlet tubing that connect to either an over the edge filter or direct outlet to the tank

Answer:	The canister fits under the aquarium is 9x9x14 to the top of the canister. With the hose connection it’s about 17”. I use the spray output which is adjustable up to about 27”.
Question:	Do I need to take the charcoal out of the net baggie it in, or leave it in
Answer:	When I first got this filter, I took the charcoal out of the bag. After a while I decided to try leaving it in the bag, and it appears to be working just fine. I'm a bit of a chemistry freak when it comes to my aquariums, and when I decided to try leaving the charcoal in the bag, I noticed no different readings on Ammonia, Nitrites, or Nitrates. And a big plus to leaving the charcoal in the bag is that it makes cleaning and maintenance of the filter so much easier. Just rinse out the bag with the charcoal in it and plop it right back into the filter. When it's time to change out the charcoal, throw the old bag away and replace it with a fresh bag of charcoal which are readily available here on Amazon.
