The manufacturer does tend to update the style of the binder fairly frequently, so I have a couple different versions of this product, and have been happy with all of them. |

| Answer: | To anyone else reading these response: 1 - The filter does not self prime, you have to fill it with water through the priming port on the top of the housing. 2 - To the original question this is exactly how I run it without the CO2 in atomizer. Not sure how that would impact the flow. But I run a Hydor 200W heater in line and the filter is ~ 3ft below the water line. I didn't want a fast flow and I had to put a valve on the output to slow it down. Should have no problem with flow on a 10G tank. |

| Answer: | No. only 2 short 24" hoses. Get some 1/2" ID 5/8" OD vinyl tubing. It fits. I put some on today but need to get some elbow joints. They do not give part to make a U over the top of the tank so I am going to have to build one myself. The canister itself is just under 9 inches tall but allow several inches to bend the tubes backwards an run them up the back of the tank. The pump itself can handle over two feet, I think mine is closer to 3 feet of lift and is only half open. |

| Answer: | Daniel:Gallon per hour flow rate is a measure of how much water goes through the filter every hour. You ideally want to circulater the water in your tank about 6-8 times per hour. So, if you have a 10G tank, you want a flow rate of about 60-80 GPH. The Finnex is advertised at about 95GPH.Unfortunately, most manufacturer's rating are hard to understand. Sometimes they are measured without any filter media, so the filter is just circulating water, but not filtering anything. Others measure their flow rates more realistically. So beware of relying on manufacturer's numbers.....The Finnex is suitable for 5-10G tanks. Some people say it will work for 20G tanks, but I think this will only work if the tank is lightly stocked.Hope this helps.Gautam Bose |

| Answer: | It seems there are some differences. I observed these looking at a setup video of the Macro 75 VS checking the Clean 75 which I currently own. The Mechanical top of the Macro has a long plastic molded tube from the center approx 1" wide in diameter which fits INTO the rectangular filter pad in the center compartment. The Clean 75 does not and had s thin "spike" type design which goes down into the rectangular filter. there is also a very thin (about 4mm wide) white 3-4" tube coming from the top of the Mechanical top in the Clean 75. It's not clear which is the "better" design but these are actual different. Finally the Specs on the Clean 75 state it does 244 GPH while the Marco says 200. I can't find where either of these have been independently verified . They both use the same Impeller replacement part so it's possible they are similar in their motor abilities and size outside of the physical differences of the plastic central tube. Outside of these differences it seems they operate the same way: Slanted Filter in section one over the in/out valves, Charcoal media on bottom and rectangular filter in central part of the canister, Biological (white) media in the final third chamber. FWIW I have three med size aquatic turtles in a 29 Tall aquarium filled with about 15-20 gal of water and I use one Clean 75 canister filter. I've had this for at least 3-4 years. It used to work great and I'd clean it about once a month but lately it seems it has slowed down considerably and the water gets cloudy and foul with 2 weeks forcing a complete change or water etc. In looking at other options (Penn PLex, etc) many make great promises but actual user reviews from knowledgeable hobbyists don't back those up (ie: apparently the Penn plex bypasses the filter design and does far less than the promised 300+ GPH flow. The Zoo med has always primed automatically and is super easy to clean (plus you can make your own charcoal media bags saving $$) so it seems this filter is still the most affordable and solid so I may just buy another one. Would love to hear more educated replies on this questions however. |

I found my turtle yellow belly slider size of a quarter in my garage 3years ago he is now 9 inches long in a 50 gallon special tank designed for turtle with a much cheaper filter that word great and is very happy to have all the space. I have spent a fortune on many different filter. Only to find nothing worked until I went and got expert advice and now I spent less money on something that works great. Please do not purchase this filter like I said I bought two of them and both have been trashed. |
