Answer:	The device does not need to be pointed directly at the area but would be most effective if pointed in the general direction.
Question:	What do the red light mean
Answer:	Two color led indicators show good or low battery. Good battery equals 1 flash every 5 seconds with a green led. Low battery shows 3 flashes every 5 seconds with the red led. No lights indicates it is time to change the battery. When the device is emitting the ultrasonic sound, the red led is solid. When in test mode, the red led will flash if the battery is low.

Answer:	I asked my vet. She said no residual damage—but I think it’s more like hearing a weird STARTLING sound. It startled my dog and all of a sudden she stopped barking and looked at me. Answer:	We actually are not sure how to make that happen. In fact, we are trying to return our collar. It does not work at all for us. My dog barks with the collar on and we see no difference. Sorry! Hope you have better luck
