I wrote to "Petsafe" about manufacturing in Taiwan and they claim they have regular inspections......My dog eats 2 discs twice a day for years........he has the whitest teeth of any lab I have ever seen....but I do worry that they are not made in the USA and lately they just started adding Sodium Phosphate to the rings......so once a day I substitute Dr Harvey's Dehydrated Sweet Potatoes, (made in the USA/no additives), but they are not rings....I improvise and my dog loves them........I have written to Dr. Harvey's to PLEASE manufacture the sweet potatoes as rings to fit the Busy Buddy Chewbone but they never answered...... |

I didn't notice that the treats come from China until after I let my dog chew them and I am totally bummed because she loves it but treats (and seafood) from any part of Asia are forbidden in our house (hubby's a Veterinarian and has no problem with closely supervised pressed rawhide chewing but any Asian products are a no no). I dearly wish I could find a suitable replacement! |

I put in dry chow and water, or plain yogurt, or Baby food sweet potatoes, or baby food chicken, or baby food pumpkin, mashed bananas...lots of yummy treat options, then freeze. They sit horizontal on the freezer shelf, and they stack easily so you can have several filled and ready to give your pup. There is only the top opening, so no need to worry about liquids leaking out of multiple holes like the kong toy. The small only holds a small spoonful of liquid/wet food, while the large will hold several spoonfuls. These are easy to clean out after your dog has enjoyed the treats inside, just use a bottle brush or similar and they dry quickly on the countertop. He’s had them for several months and they’ve held up great. Very reasonably priced and good quality...pug approved! |

| Answer: | I have both the smaller version (5"H x 6 1/2"W) and the larger version (6 ½” W x 7 3/4"H) of the PetSafe Treat Pouch and can easily open alone with one hand without any issues. I normally open with my right hand, grab a handful of treats with left hand, and immediately close again with my right hand. Note however as someone earlier communicated, it is imperative that you push the metal clasp closed as soon as possible or your treats will be a “jackpot” for pooches if you lean over while it is still open, because they will tumble out. I'd also like to re-emphasize that this is a very functional treat pouch, in that your dog will NOT be able to help him/herself to treats (especially high value items) when it is closed, since the metal closing mechanism is so effective. |

My concern is that if left unattended he would easily be able to break off chunks of hard rubber that he could swallow. I threw the product away after one day and bought a bison horn instead. That has kept him safely busy even when unattended. |
