Question: Is this good for dogs of all ages housed indoors to maintain healthy weight? chihuahua 2yo, jackabe 4yo, and labpittgolden mix puppy. thanks
Answer: I've never had any problems giving it to my other dogs. I switched my bulldog puppy over to it when he got diagnosed with dysplasia and it seemed to really help him out.
Question: Are pellets big or small? I have a Senior Chihuahua and she can't eat the big hard pellets
Answer: It's smaller pellets as far as I remember. But most of their food has smaller pellets than most dog food brands. This is great stuff, in my opinion!

User questions & answers

Question: Is the salmon farmed? Based pn the photo on tne bag....it shouldn't be
Answer: Just got a new 30 lbs and noticed a change in the packaging. I called Victor and asked if there were ingredient changes made and was told yes---no flax seed, using dehydrated salmon rather than raw,---I was told it is the same amount but since it is dehydrated the weight changed so it is further down the line of ingredients, more ocean fish, added gabanzo beans, chicken meal change, added chicken blood meal. I keep the ingredient panel from each package so I will have to do my own comparison--I always want to know what my girl is eating. She is beautiful, almost 7 years old, and Yukon River is the only food I have ever trusted to feed. I'm hoping they removed the canola oil--yuck. Check it out for yourself so you are happy with what you feed.
Question: Where is food from
Answer: The Grain Free Yukon River Canine is manufactured in Mt. Pleasant Texas where all Victor Formulas are produced.
Question: what size is the kibble could toys eat it
Answer: The food pieces are about 1/2 to 1/3 the size of a typical piece of dog food.
Question: Grain free but yet lists oatmeal as an ingredient? Am I wrong
Answer: Hi Patricia yes and no. Yes oatmeal is a grain. But this food is grain free. The description is incorrect.http://www.victordogfood.com/yukon.html#I order the food from the feed store in town and on the bag the correct ingredients are listed but there were old incorrect flyers in the store about the food that listed incorrect ingredients. My best bet would be typos. The formula might have changed from a few years back and it might have had oatmeal in it at some point but as of now, the current formula is grain free and does not contain oatmeal. Hope this helped.

Answer: It is small kibble. Each piece about the size of a pea.
Question: Does it reduce dog weight
Answer: This is a great, high quality food. Being grain-free definitely helps with weight control. Best way to reduce dog weight safely is to feed your dog the amount of calories needed for the target weight you are shooting for (your dog's 'ideal weight.') For example, if you want your dog to weigh 50 pounds but your dog now weighs 60 pounds, feed your pooch the number of calories required for a 50 pound dog -- which would be about 875 calories per day. This Victor variety is 397 calories per cup. So if you fed one cup in the morning and one cup in the evening, that will cover 794 of the daily calories, leaving 81 calories for treats and snacks. Here is a great tool to help with figuring out how many calories to feed per day: http://www.dogfoodadvisor.com/dog-feeding-tips/dog-food-calculator/ P.S. The feeding instructions on the food bags almost always lead you to feed more than you should. Follow the calorie tables, not the bags.
Question: Is this a Diamond product

User questions & answers

Question: What is the calcium and phosphorus content
Answer: Calcium 1.42 % Phosphorus 0.98 % according to the manufacturers general analysis. Hope this answers your questions
Question: Are these big chunks or small chunks
Answer: I don't think I've personally seen small chunks to know what those are in comparison~ I have seen pellets (another brand) that were smaller than these (Victor chicken/rice in the orange bag)~ The pieces of food in this bag are flatter round pieces and I wouldn't say they were small. We have a 150 pound 11 month old English mastiff who eats this food ~ We use this as well for training treats and they are a good size for that. Hope that helps. We've bought quite a few bags from amazon online when the local family owned place closed a couple of months ago. I'd rather not buy bagged food online but haven't had a problem.
