What I did when I had one size that was a bit large for one of my dogs, however, is use a soft material to form a soft tie (tied in a bow) under the muzzle where it joins at the bottom. This is now a very comfortable fit for my dog. The muzzles are extremely effective, but do occasionally come off if the dog is allowed to spend time trying to remove it (if it's slightly large). With the tie, however, I'm confident that it won't come loose and can walk my dog without having to worry (I have Rottweilers so I have to be quite careful with one of them). |

| Answer: | Use the size chart and, when measuring around your dog's muzzle (nose) at the base of the eyes, I reccommend measuring your dog's circumference while they're panting or with their mouth slightly open. I measured my dog at 11 inches around with her mouth closed, ordered a size 3 according to the chart, and have found it's difficult for her to pant comfortably because she pants at around 12 inches around. Also, her nose is 3.5 inches long and touches/presses against the grate of the size 3- you don't want the grate to touch their nose because it will rub and leave a sore. Hope my experience helps you make an informed decision! |

You need to be sure of TWO things before you choose your muzzle size. FIRST: Circumference of snout(measure with mouth slightly open) The muzzle's "circumference" MUST be LARGER than your dog's "nose circumference." We recommend between 1 - 3 inches larger than your dog's measurement. If the muzzle is the exact same size as your dog's nose, the dog won't be able to pant. Its mouth won't even be able to open. SECOND: Length from eyeline to tip of nose The muzzle CAN NOT be LONGER than your dog’s actually “nose length”. If the muzzle is longer than your dog's nose length, the muzzle will be in the dog's line of vision. When should my pet wear a muzzle
Training to avoid bites is important, but sometimes muzzles are necessary,particularly while a pet is still in the rehabilitation process. If you have a pet that is likely to bite and you’re going to be in a situation that’s stressful for the pet, a muzzle might be a good idea. Stressful situations can include a trip to the vet, or places where you’ll be around a lot of strange pets and people. Keep in mind that, like all muzzles, they should only be worn for brief periods of time, up to twenty minutes at the most, depending upon temperature and the pet’s activity level. Constantly monitor your pet’s comfort and remove the muzzle if they are showing any difficulty breathing or signs of overheating.
How to training my dog to wear the muzzle
Each package contains a guidebook, it has detailed steps for your reference to train your dog. You can use treats/peanut butter to encourage your dog to wear it.
Sizing Guide:
Measure the circumference of your dog’s snout and the length between the tip of the nose and eyes. If your pet’s snout is the exact same size as the pet muzzle, your pet will not be able to open his mouth to pant, please order the next size up.
Add 1" for small/medium breeds and 2" for large breeds.
Size 1 measures 2" with a 6" circumference
Size 2 measures 2½" with a 7" circumference
Size 3 measures 3¼" with a 8.6" circumference
Size 4 measures 3½" with a 9.5" circumference
Size 5 measures 4½" with a 11" circumference
Size 6 measures 4¾" with a 12.5"circumference
Size 7 measures 5½" with a 14.5" circumference

| Answer: | I got a size 2 for my 23lb poodle mix, it is about perfect. I think if you went up one size, the basket might hit in your pup's eyes. IMO, size 2 would be to large for a pom. My dog's nose does hit the front "corner" and she's not crazy about it, but it keeps her from "snacking" on the little presents the neighborhood cats leave in the flower beds. Also, she can drink while wearing it, and it is quite adjustable, I am very happy with it. I have tried others and she was able to get them off. |

| Answer: | Not for eating. A feed bag is for that. However, if you need them to eat slower...get a slow feeding bowl. If you are worried about aggression, then seperate the animals being fed. A muzzle is to stop them from being able to eat (especially poop in our case) or bite. |

| Answer: | This is a very square muzzle. The important thing is to take your dogs muzzle measurements. You may still have to add holes to the leather straps, as I did, but the measurements will tell you which muzzle to buy. They do seem sturdy and well made. |

| Answer: | No this does not secure to the collar. After having this muzzle for a while I have to say I would not order it again. The only thing on it that is leather is the strap to fasten it. Rest of it is hard plastic that touches your dogs face and you will have to put soft pads on for comfort. Mine only wears it for a short period of time when we let our cat out. Even though I followed directions on the fit as well it doesn't fit quite correctly either. I do like the basket concept. If you are looking for a muzzle for a safe way for your dog to play I would not recommend this. This is just my opinion. |
