Answer:	I would say that if it is fastened securely, and it does have the ability to tighten under the pups ribcage, it should do the job just fine as you can adjust the harness to the proper fit making it nice and snug.

She loves going on walks with my dog and I around the neighborhood and this harness is great as it doesn't choke her like the strap harness'. on the leg thing that Jeanine A. said on 1/25/13. If your cat or dog is patient you can even pull out the strap and then rethread it to put it on them, so you are not putting their leg in it but just strapping it on. :)
Question:	I have 2 Daschunds and use walking vests on them which do not pull off if I am walking ahead of them. What about these
Answer:	My dog managed to wiggly out twice! My dog is a leash puller, but he can't get out of he's pulling. He can, however, get out if I retract the leash so that he's right next to me (no slack on the leash), he can get out. Imagine you putting your hands up to take a T shirt off. That's how my dog got out not once, but twice even after tightening the strap around his body. The strap hugs him so tight, that I have to be careful not to clip his hair when buckling.
Question:	Does this harness help prevent pulling at all
Answer:	I am much happier walking with the harness than the regular collar. My dog will still pull, but she is no longer choking herself and making herself cough terribly. When she barks at other dogs it is a lot easier to pull her back and control her.

Answer:	Carol, My dog is 15 pounds (goes back and forth between 14-15) and he is a Boston Terrier - tall and slim. I can send pictures if you want. He wears a Large and it is snug. He still wears it but can't push the velcro all the way together - have to keep it loose. He walks into it. We LOVE IT. I am afraid if you go up to an XL it will be too large. Answer:	The dotty harness fits smaller than the regular, plain colored harness B. My Maltese found the Medium dotty harness a bit tight when her weight was 7-8 lbs. she is now 9.5 lb and I just order a large fleece line Puppia harness B., but in the regular, she is still a medium. Not sure this is fhelpful, but the best info I can procide. 🙂
Question:	Is this the right style for a dachshund? Last time I tried a harness with him, he slipped his legs out first and then it was off. He is 13lbs
Answer:	I have a 13 lb Havanaise and it works just fine on him. I don't know what style a dachshund requires but there is not sufficient room across the chest of the dog to get a paw between the harness and his chest. It Is a good design.

Answer:	The ring where you attach the leash is on their back, so yes it is choke free. It is perfect for our Shih Tzu

Answer:	Alyce - I can advise that I purchased a size medium - the neck opening measures 12", my yorkie's neck measures 9.5". I cannot honestly advise of what size you should order. I would check the sizing chart that is offered on Amazon.Thank you.
Question:	How do you measure the dog for the harness size
Answer:	I am not sure - I measured our dog's neck and chest and went by that...when I received the harness it would not fit her neck. Boston's have big necks.
Question:	will it work for a 10 1/2 pound cat
Answer:	My 10 pound dog can wiggle her way out of it. I think your cat is probably more agile than my chihuahua :) Your cat may be able to squeeze out of it. Maybe a small would fit more snugly than the medium. Other than that its a really good quality harness and if properly fit its safe and seems comfortable for the pet.

Collar versus Harness

There is nothing wrong with using a collar and a leash on a dog, as people have used them for a long time. A collar is a good functional tool when training your dog to walk on a leash. The use of a collar can sometimes cause strains in your dog's neck and trachea and for small breed dogs, this can be very dangerous. Smaller breed dogs have small necks and small necks have fragile throats and tracheas. Using a collar can sometimes lead to a collapsed trachea and cause respiratory problems. A harness is designed so that when a dog is walking on a leash and it pulls forward, the pressure is distributed throughout the dogs' chest preventing the dog from choking and hurting its throat.

Sizing

The Puppia Vivien Harness A comes in a variety of sizes from Extra-Small (i.e. 2-3 lbs dogs) to Large (i.e. 25-30 lbs dogs). It is very important to measure your dog properly and the image below will help you measure your dog properly. Just like us humans, individual dogs vary in size and physique, so choosing a size based on a list of breeds should only be used as a suggestion. Always use actual measurements from your dog taken with a tailor's tape measure or even a piece of string and then lay it against a yardstick. As a rule of thumb, if your dog is in between sizes, please go up a size. For the Soft Harness, one of the most important measurement you will need is the dog's neck measurement. Since this harness has to fit over the dog's head, please make sure the harness' neck opening if large enough to fit your dog's head through. The dog's neck should be measured at the place where a collar would naturally rest (base of neck). It is very important to take the measurement at the base of the neck, otherwise you will wind up with a harness that is too tight or won't even fit over the head.

Important Note:

Unlike human clothes, pet apparel designers have different sizing characteristics, so please do not purchase a Puppia harness based on the size of another manufacturer/designer. Also, just because your dog is small to you, does not mean it automatically fits a size small harness. You have to take various measurements into consideration before you purchase this harness. All dogs are built differently and some dogs have very deep or broad chest, whereas some dogs have a large head compared to their body. So please make sure you measure correctly and make sure your dog's head can clear the neck opening of the harness, as this portion is not adjustable.

Answer:	This vest is awesome. Fits very well and leash attached right to the vest. I think it would be almost impossible for a dog to get out of it.

Answer:	my dog is a chihuahua daschaund mix about 19.5 pounds. We had larges last year when he was about 15 lbs had to go up to the xtra-large this year. he is not over-weight just very muscular. the Large still fit but it was snug - the x large is a tiny bit big but seems more comfortable... ( as if he could tell me ha) Hope this help!
