Answer:	We got the small for our Malti-tzu who is 14lbs and 17in. girth and it fits him with a little room to spare (has adjustable straps) and we got the medium for our pug who is 23lbs and 25in girth. The medium is really too long for him but because of his thick broad chest & neck we had to get a larger size (he is only 15in from his neck to tail the malti-tzu is 17). The life jacket does have a neoprene belly band that is made to fit a little snug, but does not seem uncomfortable to the dogs (it has a small margin of adjustment to it). It's a very well made life jacket and you can't beat this price anywhere. Your dogs' girth is so close to the max for the small it could probably fit a medium but keep in mind that it would be long and maybe even a little loose. However, if your dog keeps a summer haircut the small may be just fine. Hope this helped you.

Answer:	Today was our first test of this jacket, my Sheltie Jake tripped on a dock line and fell in (he was excited about barking at a dog on another boat.) It kept his head out of the water nicely, there is flotation material in the strap that goes around his front. Shelties are negatively buoyant when their fur is soaked, this jacket kept him afloat and the handle made it easy to pull him out. (It was a very brief test in perfectly flat water... all good so far.)

Answer:	Yes. With the extra handle it is a bit longer along the back, helping senior dogs feel more secure in the water. The two handles provide the human more ease in moving a dog in and out of the water.
Question:	Would a Large be big enough for a 85lb Golden
Answer:	I would think so, but you really should measure his/her girth. I first ordered the medium for a 64 pound dog. The front strap was too short, but otherwise the jacket would have fit fine. The dogs girth was the top of the medium range, so we think the short strap was a manufacturing issue. So then we ordered a large. The large fit, but seemed big. We had to cinch the straps a lot. Unfortunately it fell apart just trying it on in the house so we never used it and just returned that one, too. But I would think it would fit a dog 20 pounds more than my dog. If you don't have a soft tape measure, wrap a leash or rope around the dog's girth and measure that.
