Answer:	no. there is no need for one. The litter box is large enough to keep a good amount of litter in it. I am very satisfied with this product.

Answer:	The opening straight on 3 sides and is curved on the inmost edge with a curved lip... it's 10" wide and the arc goes from about 6 1/2" on each side to 8 3/4" at the widest center point... and even a tiny kitten can get in and out easily...

Answer:	The lid to this box has holes in it so that the litter can fall back through into the box. The lid is also hinged and there is a small hook that you could hang a litter scoop on. The size of the boxes are the same, fitting into a 20x15x15 for shipping, varying slightly smaller for the box. The clevercat box lid has a 9" diameter opening. The lid on the Petmate is slightly smaller and not a diameter but more of a half oval.

Answer:	It's about the size of a typical Rubbermaid tub (15 inches high or so?). It is under a countertop in our bathroom. The cat that uses it is about 9 months old (8-9 lbs) and the hops in, pokes her head out the top and is fine. She had a front entry before this and had no adjustments to using it. Answer:	The top perch is 22"x11", lower perch is 22"x11" and the box is 15"x15"x15". This cat tree is the best I've ever seen and very affordable. Very well made, sturdy and the perches are covered with these amazing memory foam pads. I wash them in a lingerie bag on a gentle cycle and they come out looking like new. It had a very modern look to it - not a giant ugly carpet covered monster. Highly recommend by both me and my cat!

Answer:	To Clean the litter off - you need to shake it out or you can vacuum it; even though it seems like there will always be some pieces of clumping litter in the mat, you can also hose it off and let it air dry. I have two that I use outside the litter boxes and my cats don't seem to mind them at all. It is helpful since two of my three like to really kick the litter out of their covered boxes.

Question:	Has anyone tried using this with pine/cedar/walnut pellets? The pellets would need to stay in the top pan and the sawdust fall through
Answer:	The holes are too big to use pellet litter. The pellets fall through. You need the holes to be smaller so that the "sawdust" (pellets broken down from pee) falls through the holes to be dumped out, so you can save the whole pellets and put them back in the litter pan to be used.
Question:	Can this be used with non-clumping pine litter
Answer:	Yes, it can. I prefer it to the litter box meant for feline pine litter. You use this one differently, however. The litter is used in a solid bottom pan. I scoop the poop regularly and shake the pan to make the saw dust go to the bottom of that pan. After about a week, I empty the litter into the shifting pan and shakes the sawdust through to into the second pan. Toss out the saw dust and pour the remaining pine litter back into the original pan. It is fast and easy. The pans are easy to wipe clean.
Question:	How much litter do you add? How do I get the sifter back under the litter after emptying it
Answer:	Usually 3-4 inches of litter will suffice. Step 1.Lift the sifting tray and shake from side to side. clean litter will fall through sifting tray into bottom pan. Step 2.Clumped litter will remain on top of sifting tray. Discard clumps in a trash receptacle and then clean the tray. Step 3. Reassemble litter pan using empty bottom pan. Step 4. Pour sifted litter from original pan onto sifting tray. Add more clean litter if needed. Clean original pan and place under assembled litter pan for storage.
Question:	Anyone find a hood or method for keeping the cats from kicking litter out? I love the sifting but now I have to deal with litter outside the box
Answer:	I upcycle those wonderful Amazon boxes. Since my cats love those boxes anyway, I set one on it's side and slide the litter box into the open box. That way, I have sides and a top and the litter stays in the box. It also keeps mine from scratching walls near their litter box - mine love scratching cardboard. When I empty the litter box, I pour the spilled litter back into the clean box. By the way, the Amazon boxes are sturdy enough to spray paint if you need to color coordinate. The best thing is that if they destroy the covering box, I know I will have another Amazon delivery coming!
