Question:	I have an senior cat, 19yrs old, and she has become very picky on or wet food choices, she prefers alot of "gravy" vs chunks does Merrick carry
Answer:	I would have her gums and teeth checked first. She may have tender gums and that is why she prefers gravy consistency. the general advice about wet cat food I have read and researched is that gravy content is not as good because it has higher carb content and what cats need is protein with no or very little carb. content. Cats are basic meat eaters and usually get no carbs from their natural diet. My Occi cat developed a diabetic onset from years on a dry food with higher carb. formula. After converting to a wet high protein diet, his blood sugar reading dropped immediately and has remained normal for two years now. I would suggest using a Merrick pate' (chicken or surf & turf ) and add water to the pate' mashing it up with a fork into a wet paste. Cats normally get a majority of their water intake from their food, and your senior will think she is eating a gravy and still getting a healthy hi-protein diet. You will likely see an improvement in her coat and activity level. Answer:	I don't feel that is the case and I've been feeding my cats the tuna pate for a few years - it never upsets their stomachs or causes any other issues. It smells a little fishy - enough to bother my husband but it doesn't bother me. I mix it in with their dry food and our cats LOVE it AND the ingredients are all USA so you can't beat that.

Be careful with the duck it is very rich. I have 9 cats who have eaten the chicken and some turkey and they could not tolerate the richness of the duck! So I have a case I cannot use in my pantry.

Answer:	Purina bought Merrick a few months ago, which concerned me. I saved an old label to see if and/or how the recipe changes and make my decision on whether to change feeding it to my cats. The food I have hasn't changed yet, but I'll be checking it now that you've asked this question.

Answer:	HiYou may try mixing in a teaspoon a couple of times a day with your cats dry food. You want to do this gradually as not to upset your cats stomach. It's a good idea to have your cat eat wet food in case there comes a time when he or she can longer eat dry food. My cat eats 1 can over a 2 day period along with his dry Merricks dry food.

Answer:	I no longer buy this brand. I have a kitty that is grain sensitive but this didn't work for her. I now buy Blue Buffalo.
