Answer:	about 3 quarts or 96 ounces if filled to the rim. 100 oz will not fit

Answer:	We love this water bowl as well as all three of our cats. Never had water splash out. We do keep a towel under it just in case. The only time it makes noise is when it needs more water. Air siphoning. Let's us know they are using it. There is a variable motor on the pump to also control pressure and noise.

Answer:	I have another Drinkwell model and when it is noisy as described, it means that the lever on the filter is not set low enough (should be around 2:00 setting — keep inching it towards 3:00 until the noise stops, but never should be as low as the full 3:00 position) OR there’s not enough water in the bowl for the filter engine to run smoothly. But the filter is being ruined if you’re getting that loud noise, so you need to fix one or both of the two things above or turn it off. Operation should be quiet!

Take the Pump Apart

Remove the blue faceplate by using your finger to pull on the small tab on the side.

Remove the Stator

Remove the blue teardrop shaped stator by pulling up on the small lip.

Use a fingernail to pull out the impeller, which is held in place magnetically. Clean the pump parts with warm water and soap, then reassemble.

Question:	Is there an on/of switch or must the unit be unplugged to stop it
Answer:	I recommend weekly washing by hand (no dishwasher) in a lightly soapy Dawn bath with very thorough rinse in plain very warm water and towel dry. It's important to disassemble the pump to clean possible hair or slime from the propeller and magnet. I bought my 1st Drinkwell Plat in 2011 and it is still running at my daughter's house with only a pump being replaced recently in 5.5 years. We need to refill the reservoir weekly so that is a good time for us to clean it thoroughly and we have gotten really good at washing all the parts and cleaning the pump in less than 15 minutes. Rinse the filter in plain warm water (no soap) will extend the life as well.
Question:	The plastic reservoir has a musty smell to it. I use bottled water and have washed it with hot soapy water to no avail. Ideas, suggestions
Answer:	I would not advise that given the electrical plug is not rated for outdoor use... I live in FL and there are plenty of mosquitoes inside and I've never seen them lay eggs in water (though I recommend cleaning it at least once a month and exchanging filter).
Question:	How often do you need to disassemble and thoroughly clean this fountain
Answer:	Thank you for your review. Any foamy bubbles on the water's surface can be caused by one of two things. If you use a very sudsy soap when cleaning the fountain, you need to be sure to thoroughly rinse the fountain when cleaning as any soap residue may lead to this. Alternatively, this is your pet's saliva. As your pets take a drink, their saliva can fall into the fountain and float on the water's surface. As the water aerates from the waterfall, this can cause the foaminess you're experiencing. To clean this, we recommend soaking your pet fountain in a 50/50 water and white vinegar solution.
Question:	Can this be used outdoors under a covered porch? And does this have enough water flow to keep mosquitoes from laying eggs in the water

Question:	I've had it for only a week and the pump ran for a day and a half and then quit. Where can I contact the company to ask for a replacement pump
Answer:	Sorry to hear that you are having issues with your pump. We have found that the impeller which is held in by a magnet can become off balance. There is a quick fix for this problem. If you look on page 9 & 10 of your manual there are instruction on how to take apart the pump. If you no longer have your manual you can go to www.pioneerpet.com and go under instructions/products and they will show you how to take apart your pump. When you do this and remove the impeller after you put it back in give it a few spins this will help it stay in balance. You should be doing this once a month when you change your filters. Question:	Is this fountain all stainless or is the outside bowl white
Answer:	The fountain is entirely stainless. The inner pump is housed in plastic. It runs very quiet. I'm really pleased w/ this one. It was easy to assemble and clean as well.
Question:	Most of the complaints about this fountain seem to be about the pump. Is it plastic? Is there any smell around the pump
Answer:	I've owned this fountain since November 2014 and the pump is still going strong. You just need to take it apart and clean it thoroughly every time you clean the fountain. My cats and I love this fountains.
Question:	Does anyone else have a problem with foaming or bubbles on the surface of the water? It looks like scum, but it's not, and the fountain is clean
Answer:	The 'bubbles' you see are an indicator that you need to clean your fountain and change (or rinse VERY well) your filters more often. There is a difference in aeration bubbles and saliva residue. When your cat drinks, saliva gets into the water dish and is re-circulated through the pump. If you have the residue on your water surface; your pump and filter probably feel slimy to the touch. We have 7 indoor cats that use 4 fountains (stainless steel really is better; the flower brands now have stainless steel bowls (well worth it to replace older plastic ones). Some weeks all of them are slimy, others none are. I take apart and clean them all every week regardless. I use Clorox Clean-up and brushes. After cleanimg, I leave them to soak in VERY hot water with ~1 T vinegar (until water cools), rinse again and reassemble. I replace the filters every week. I also run them through the dishwasher every 4 to 6 weeks so they get washed in water hotter than my hands can bear. This sounds like lot of work, but the benefit to the cats of having clean, running water is worth it. It only takes about 2 hours to do all four. When compared to the weeks we spent at veterinary offices and emergency clinics (not to mention the thousands of dollars we spent and the suffering he went throuh) with one of our males that had a urinary blockage; it doesn't seem like much time at all! Fountains really do encourage cats to drink more water which is necessary for urinary tract health. Therefore, in my opinion, the small amount of extra work they make is a reasonable trade off. 1. Unplug.

2. Disassemble and rinse impeller under water.

4. Place impeller back in and spin a few times to set alignment.

Question:	How tall are the sides to the bowl? Would a Chihuahua be able to reach over the sides to drink
Answer:	9 inches at the front. Our 12 lbs Boston Terrier has no problems. I don’t know how big your chihuahua is but if it’s at least 10 lbs it should be able to reach the bottom of the bowl.

Is Your Pet Dehydrated?

To check if your pet is dehydrated, gently grab a loose fold of skin, either on the back of the neck or in between the shoulder blades and release. If the skin snaps back into place, your pet should be okay. If the skin slowly returns into place, your pet could be dehydrated and may need to be checked by a veterinarian. On average, your pet should drink one ounce of water per pound of weight daily

What is activated carbon?

The activated carbon filters are made of coconut shells. The shells are put through a process called carbonization, which removes all elements other than carbon. Answer:	I keep my fountain running 24/7 and it's right outside my bedroom as well. I keep my bedroom door partially closed bit the fountain does not bother me. Although I can hear it during the day when all is quiet. It is more of a soothing sound to me. I would say if the sound is going to bother you get a flowing type fountain not one that drips. Aside from that I really recommend this fountain it is my favorite one and is easiest to clean.

I've always used my Britta filtered water in this so I decided to give it a try without the filter and it works perfectly fine. I change the water weekly and there are no issues. I feel like because this design is so low to the grown and large a lot of dust/dirt/debris from the floor plus cat fur and cat spit ends up in it so I'm happy replacing their water every week. Also, I'd never want to drink water that old.

Question:	how long is the cord
Answer:	I use the premium (6 chamber) because it fits more snugly in the slot. The Original (2 chamber ones) fall out before I can put the top on.
Question:	Is there an on/off switch? Also, what is the diameter measurement
Answer:	Personally I would look at the filter to judge how often I need to change the filter. I have only one cat that drinks out of the fountain and find I only need to change it every 1 1/2 months. It helps if you remove any hair that is trapped on the side of the pump (there is grillwork on one side of the pump that catches any loose particulate in the well of the fountain) change the water once a week if your cats don't empty it by then.
Question:	How much water does it hold and how often would it need to be refilled, generally? I have four small dogs (6lbs to 12lbs in weight
Answer:	We had the stainless 360 degree for years, and now we have had the Zen for 3 months. With the 360, both cats could drink at the same time and without putting their backs to the room, which they liked. They would drink right at the spout, which was about their height. You could control the number of spouts and the water speed (e.g., lower to avoid splashing). But, the cats have adapted to the Zen. They drink above the waterfall from the side, though they do have to stoop a bit. The water flows faster than we had it before so it can be splashy (noisy) if the water level isn't high. But, perhaps because of that, the cats don't seem to drink as long. I think the Zen is MUCH easier to clean because there are fewer parts and little crevices that get dirty (the motors are the same). It is getting slimy a little faster than the 360 (until the end), but it is easier to see that it needs cleaning. So, while the cats may have had have a slight preference for the 360 (can't say for sure), I prefer the Zen because it is easier to clean. If you care about noise above all else and are okay with adjusting it every few days, you should probably get the 360.
Question:	how often do you need to replace the filters
Answer:	Very good question. The Drinkwell Zen is not adverised with a pre-filter, like the Platinum Model is, but the Zen Model is constructed in such a way where the water gets as much pre-filtering as it does on the model with the adverised pre-filter!! I will explain....the water flow in the Zen goes from the wide open bowl through a black plastic grill, to the filter and through to the waterfall area back into the open bowl. This black plastic grill acts and performs as just as good a pre-filter as the advertised pre-filter on the Platinum model. I have two long hair cats and both this black plastic grill on the ZEN and the pre-filter on the Platinum model (I have both) catch large debris like cat hair, floor trash, cat toys, etc. I daily check these two areas and keep them clean so the filters can do their job. Answer:	It's around 4 or 5' and the cord detaches in the middle so you don't have to unplug from the wall and carry the heavy plug.

Answer:	There is no on/off switch, but it is simple enough to unplug. It's about 12-1/2 inches in diameter. There's a splash pan available for this fountain, too, that is about 19 or so inches in diameter. Depending on how messy your pet is, it's a good investment. (My Persians soak water up in their facial hair - those lovely Persian ruffs - and tend to make a mess trying to avoid getting water on themselves. Ha!)

Answer:	I'm not sure in gallons but I fill it with two pictures of water and depending on how much your puppies drink probably a refill every couple of days....I have 7 doggies of which two are big standard poodles(95lbs each) and the rest are small so I fill this thing twice a day....I'm probably not the best judge of this...the doggies do drink more since the water is moving and that is the 'natural' way of things for doggies so it does attract them to it more. I didn't use any of the spouts on the fountain though as that was just too much noise for my guys so just putting the top on and letting the water run gently down the sides worked best. My big guys wouldn't even go near it with a spout on it...scaredey cats!

Answer:	I've been using it without the filters without any ill effects. The manual says that's OK. I take it apart about every 3-4 days and give it a thorough cleaning; only takes about 10 minutes or less. About once a month, I take the motor out and clean all the removable parts. I have 2 cats and a small dog using the fountain.
