Answer: No, they likely couldn't access the water unless you keep it filled to the highest level at all times. The fountain dome and filter underneath blocks access to the reservoir. So it is dependant on the pump, unlike the waterfall style bowls.

Answer: My cat loved it immediately. That is, until a few months went by and he refused to drink out of it and even got sick. Despite always having regularly cleaned it and having fresh filters in it constantly, I was not advised anywhere in the instructions, nor had I even thought of cleaning out the water pump. That was, until when I had dismantled it to clean one day, I just so happen to notice that there was a thick, coats of grime and what appeared to be acid buildup from the battery that supplied energy to the pump apparatus. I couldn't believe my eyes when I first saw it. But then when I took it apart with a screwdriver just so that I could clean it out and take a better look at it, I nearly threw up. The pump which is about 2" x 2", had about 3 in.² of God knows what growing inside of it. It resembled a brownish petroleum jelly, and I had to scrub it out with a toxic degreaser, which I did for about 25 minutes before just throwing it away. A few weeks later I bought a brand-new machine altogether, and he drink out of it for about three days and then gave it up. So to answer your question, no I don't. As I said, mine loved it. But if you do get one, just please take into account what I said and even though the pump may not look dirty, regularly clean it out and look inside of the vents of the pump to see is anything has "grown" within it. I felt so horrible for making him drink out of what probably tasted like used toilet water, that I babied him for weeks; that is, after paying $300 to the vet to get him healthy again. Be careful.

Answer: This is still an issue. I bought a 5 pack back in May 2020 and 2 of the filters looked poorly sealed. I noticed some black residue (maybe charcoal?) that normally is inside the filter ended up loose on the edge of it. I trimmed around the edge to remove it, and that helped with one of them. But yeah, this shouldn't be happening. I'm gonna try and purchase one more time to see if it happens again.

Answer: I've been using the flower fountain for years. You need to keep the water level lower than the bottom of the filter so that the water coming through the top can actually pass through it to be filtered. You also need to rinse the filter thoroughly every day and refill with fresh water every day. Its just a little carbon filter, the water still needs dumped and refilled daily! I look at it like, if I wouldn't drink two day old water, I dont want my cat drinking it either! Scrub the parts with dish soap (not the filter, though obviously) at least once a week (or more if you have hard water and are seeing build-up on the flower earlier than that.) Take the front cover off the pump when you scrub everything to get any gunk out that has built up inside. I use a baby-bottle nipple brush to clean these tiny parts. I've never had an issue. Remember, the point of a fountain is to entice finicky kitties to drink more often because they prefer running water. Fountains are not a way to get out of providing new, fresh water every day! If your filter is backing up, it's full of sludge from your days-old water or you're filling the water level too high. Also, it states that a brand new filter may have some carbon dust come through. I just try to really rinse those filters thoroughly before placing.

Answer: The only time my fountain is unplugged is when I clean it... And yes, there is a little water in the bowl depending on how much I fill it. Question: Do you really need the filters? I use bottled water and clean it out weekly/replace with fresh water
Answer: I put it together including the bowl and fill it, unplugged, slowly until the water is above the holes in the bowl. Then I plug it in and continue to fill it until the water is within 1/2 inch of the top of the bowl. It needs to be topped off every day because it's impossible to see the actual water level and water is lost through drinking and evaporation. It will look full until it's almost empty.

Answer: It is approximately 5 ft 3 in. By the way I have tried every dog/cat fountain for sale anywhere and this is the best pet fountain there is. The filter is very high quality and it and the entire fountain can be cleaned easily. Furthermore, it stays cleaner longer than any of the others. Answer: Sure, it comes out, and even though Catit does not sell extra bowls that fit the mat, they sell single and double feeding dishes with bowls that fit perfectly, so you can have a clean bowl ready for each meal.

Answer: Yes! It doesn't have an indention for the water fountain.
Question: Where can I get additional bowls (without stands) to fit into this mat
Answer: The manufacturer advised they don't sell the bowls separately. However, I decided to try the 6.83 fl. oz. bowl in the Catit Single Dish (and Double Dish) holders Catit 43872 6.83 fl. oz. Double Dish Food Dish, White, NA , which fit the recessed area in the mat perfectly.

Answer: I asked them about it on their Facebook page. Here'e there answer:Hi Sean, We produce Catit Foam/Carbon Filters (#55601) and the newer Catit Water Softening Filters (#55602), both of which are suitable to use with a Catit Senses fountain. The Foam/Carbon Filter removes debris from the water and absorbs impurities in the water. The Catit Water Softening Filters does this too, but in addition also removes magnesium and calcium from the water to reduce the risk of lower urinary tract diseases. The Water Softening filters also require less frequent changes than the Foam/Carbon filters. We hope this helps!So, yes they do, but the Senses filters last longer and filter more.
Question: Are the parts dishwasher safe
Answer: As mentioned, very easy to clean! Super easy system, pretty cheap upkeep (really, 3 filters will last you 3-6 months, so 1-2 bucks a month tops). Best of all, my boy cat drinks way more now, which potentially can save thousands of dollars by avoiding a urinary blockage. :-)
Question: Does this fountain use the same filter as the other Catit fountain? If I have one of each would like to use the same filters
Answer: I think it's very easy to clean. I have just one cat. It recommends changing the filter every three weeks , but I clean the container monthly(it kind of gets a slimy feel on the plastic when it's time to clean. You can remove the filter and simply rinse off and debris and then just put it back in and start with clean water and you are ready to go. I have used the same filter for a couple of months, changing the water and rinsing the filter as needed.
Question: Do they make a version of this without the food bowl attatched
Answer: The only difference between the Catit fountain with the flower and the one without it is the flower ... and the price. These filters fit both versions.

Answer: I thought mine was shot too but found they have a slider adjustment on the base of the pump that is easy to slide to the minimum side while washing. Slide it to the right if needed.

Answer: I did a lot of research trying to find pumps for both Catit and Drinkwell Platinum, both of which I have, so I can say that the Catit and Drinkwell pumps are not the same. I ended up buying from here for the Drinkwell Platinum: http://store.petsafe.net/accessories/pet-care/fountains. One note: If the pump is not working and the adapter part is ok, trying running a strong vinegar solution through the fountain for several hours first. Often all that is wrong is mineral build up.
Question: Do these fit the Catit fountain that has the flower
Answer: Have you looked at a hobby/craft supply store? Or the pump manufacturer? Not sure where else you could find them. Just a note: vinegar will destroy the wires inside the pump too so I don't use that to clean the fountain. I use just a little liquid dish soap and rinse very well. Has worked great so far! Good luck! Hope you find some replacement feet!

Question: How many filters are in one pack
Answer: Yes, but there must be a technique on how to use it. I have a shih-poo. My dog's matting seemed to get worse or undercoat was too much of a mess by the time I bought this. It's a very sturdy brush for the price. Best thing is to ask a groomer how to use it. We shave our pup, but in between hair cuts this may help. The instructions are vague, I prefer visual instructions so I don't pull my dog's fur. Currently he has a very short fur cut.
Question: How often do you have to replace the filters
Answer: I have two long haired cats. I use this every day. It has really helped to eliminate hair in my carpet. Yes, it does collect loose hair.
Question: Which side goes up? Black or white
Answer: Unfortunately not. I had the same issue with my older cat and I finally had to take her to the vet to have her shaved. This is a good tool to keep ahead of the mats forming.
Question: I am having trouble with a "soapy" residue from these filters. Anyone else have this problem
Answer: It is certainly more than a "glorified comb." It's also difficult for me to answer because I have a dog. She has longer hair which does tangle, and this, although it pulls, does detangle her coat. I use it almost daily to head off major matting.
