3 best heater for outdoor cat house

A heater for an outdoor cat house is a specialized heating device designed to keep outdoor cat shelters warm and comfortable, especially during cold weather. These heaters are essential for providing a safe and cozy environment for outdoor or feral cats. Here's what you need to know about heaters for outdoor cat houses:

  1. Purpose: The primary purpose of an outdoor cat house heater is to maintain a suitable temperature inside the cat shelter, preventing the cats from getting too cold during the winter months. It helps protect outdoor and feral cats from the harsh elements.

  2. Safety: Safety is a top priority when using a heater in an outdoor cat house. Many outdoor cat house heaters are designed to be safe for use in confined spaces and have features such as automatic shut-off mechanisms to prevent overheating.

  3. Heating Methods: There are several types of heaters available for outdoor cat houses, including electric heaters, heated pads, and heated mats. Electric heaters are the most common and can provide consistent heat. Some models use low-wattage heating elements to minimize energy consumption.

  4. Insulation: Outdoor cat houses often come with insulation or are designed to accommodate insulation materials. Proper insulation combined with a heater can help maintain a warm and cozy environment even in extremely cold conditions.

  5. Weatherproofing: Heaters designed for outdoor use are typically weatherproof and can withstand exposure to rain, snow, and other outdoor elements. This ensures their durability and longevity.

  6. Temperature Control: Some outdoor cat house heaters have adjustable temperature settings, allowing you to control the level of warmth based on the weather conditions and the needs of the cats.

  7. Installation: Installation of these heaters is usually straightforward. They can be placed inside the cat house or under the bedding to radiate heat upward. Always follow the manufacturer's instructions for proper installation.

  8. Power Source: Most outdoor cat house heaters are powered by electricity and come with cords that need to be plugged into an outdoor electrical outlet. Ensure that the cat house is located near a power source or use extension cords if necessary.

  9. Maintenance: Regular maintenance is essential to ensure the heater functions correctly. Clean the heater as needed and inspect the cord and connections for any signs of wear or damage.

  10. Compatibility: When choosing a heater for your outdoor cat house, make sure it's compatible with the size and design of the cat shelter. Some heaters are specifically designed for certain types of cat houses.

Heaters for outdoor cat houses are valuable for providing a warm and safe environment for outdoor and feral cats, especially during the cold months. They can help prevent frostbite and hypothermia, ensuring the well-being of the cats living outdoors. Always prioritize safety and follow the manufacturer's guidelines for proper usage and maintenance.

User questions & answers

Question: Does this bed flex or bend in anyway. I need to slip it through a doorway I created in my homemade cat house
Answer: Hi Debbie. The answer is yes. Mine has been plugged in for 3 years now and I did not see any appreciable increase in my electric bill the first few months I used it. (I have an extra on stand-by when this one finally gives out) Also, when the pet is not on the mat the temperature decreases to very low only to be increased to 102 or so degrees with the pressure of the pet when it returns. This is the best and my outside kitties have spent many freezing nights in their warm box with the mat on which to sleep. Initially these were feral cats which allowed me to care for them from a safe distance. Loved the opportunity to domesticate them. And I also had a mat for my inside kitty as well who loved her bed just as much as the outside critters. I think this was the best purchase I've made for a pet. Wish I'd known about it when my other kitties were still alive. I'm sure a pup would appreciate this mat as well as any older animal. Can't praise this product enough!
Question: Can u leave plugged in all the time
Answer: What is the dimensions of the small pad
Question: what are the dimensions for the different pads
Answer: I've had these for 2 years. They heat constantly, but it's pretty subtle unless you compress the insulation. I think they heat to roughly 104°F, so it's mild compared to a medical heating pad. My old housecat has definitely figured out that it's warm, though.
Question: Does it emit heat without pressure? Not sure the feral cats will check it out unless the heat draws them to it
Answer: Approximately 4 inches off the ground. Just enough to keep water out and allow the inside to dry if a wet animal gets in. Rain stays out but it's also well ventilated because of the 4 inches underneath, and the removable floor boards. Top easily lifts for cleaning purposes. Can also apply a plastic flap (like a doggy door) to keep the heat in when it's cold inside. Nice..and spells nicely of cedar!

User questions & answers

Question: This vs. The triangular Shaped house/Tent looking house? Which provides more heat during the winter days and nights
Answer: The Heated K&H Outdoor Kitty House would be the more sturdy of the two and provide sufficient heat. It has an excellent thick heating pad you put inside which is very cushionyyy. I took off the plastic on both sides since the movement of the plastic seemed to scare the feral cats away. Heating pad is warm for them and works with the heat of their own bodies. Keep this out of the rain and wind. Garage would be perfect if for a feral cat, otherwise place it where it wont get wet and battered by wind and where dogs cant get to the cats. I bought this for our feral cat we have had since a kitten when her mother put her up on our wall and left her there. We took her in and kept her in our garage and she has always remained very warm, and that was 2 years ago. She roams the neighborhood but always comes back at night for food and her house.
Question: Why can't you use this with a commercial extension cord? This would almost be a must for most cases (no one usually has a plug near by
Answer: I have two of these houses plus a home made one in the front of my house under my eaves...Unfortunately, I don't have an outdoor plug nearby so I bought a heavy duty outdoor extension plug with a three plug coupler and plugged the three in, ran the extension cord under the eaves of my house up off the ground and into my garage...plug connections are covered to avoid getting wet and this is the third year I've used them without incident
Question: Could this be used indoors? My cat is eldery and this would help this winter
Answer: This is very late, I realize since the question was asked 4 years + ago, but I just have to add - if you have senior cats and it gets cold where you live? Please bring them inside. *Before anyone yells at me, I do know that some kitties refuse to come in a house. I have cared for feral cats and cats that are fully socialized with humans & I know they each have a unique personality complete with "quirks" - in which case this house could be awesome! We always just have a box with a towel and sometimes a heating pad with a timer for the ones who won't come in. But if at all possible, bring those kitties in :)
Question: If the cat does not use the Heated Kitty House for a few days, will we be using electricity when plugged in
Answer: I have 3 k&h heated cat houses of which I’ve run for almost 6 mos a year, for 3 yrs now. I am an electrician. As long as it is plugged in it is using power. The power these use are so minimal, they’re not much different than running 4-5 LED lights. No extra money at all. I am retired, now. I’d be screaming at the cats, “quit going in & out those doors, you little punks.”

User questions & answers

Question: Is it weatherproof
Answer: It's water resistant, but I wouldn't put it in a puddle. It also has ties on each corner if you wish to stake it down to help keep wind from taking it away. I hope this helps to answer your question. Have a great day.
Question: Is there a door in the front and the back
Answer: Yes there is, clear plastic Velcro doors you can put on or take off
Question: I have an outdoor cat that is pregnant, she is a small cat, do you think it could fit a cat and kittens
Answer: Probably. The house is roomy with two detachable flaps to allow the cat (and kittens) to enter and exit either end. My cat is an outdoor, very large, older female that just showed up in my woods one day last summer. I put the house outside on the porch and she started using it right away. The heated, soft floor pad fits all the way to the corners in the house which would give the kittens extra space. Of course, if your cat has a large litter it might be a little crowded once they start growing. From what I can remember about cats with kittens, they prefer small, secluded spaces for safety. So, it might be okay. I hope this helps you.
Question: What is it made of
Answer: I don't know exactly, but it is very sturdy and well made. It's a very nice cat house; you won't regret buying it. My cat hides on the inside and jumps on the rooftop several times a day.
