Answer:	All metal except for the collar that tightens down. It is made from ABS Plastic and is very tough. I have been using this one as a backpacking shovel for quite a while and have had no problems. My favorite use of this is the Pick that is built into it for breaking up compacted dirt or gravel dirt. It makes shoveling very easy.

Answer:	I would say that it depends on what you are digging in. If it is sand, then this will work just fine.. but if you are looking at hardened dirt, get something better. After hearing about sog, and seeing their video about "field tested and proven", I bought one expecting something decent.. Not great, but decent.. Even though they state "Origin: USA".. That is a lie.. Fact is, the newer ones are made in china, not the USA, like is advertised on the page.. the bolts in the joints that hold it together are about the lowest grade, or cheapest bolts that you can get. Mine were metric grade 4.6 .. that is equal to American grade 2. and the washer is made of soft steel.. It is not hardened. the blade has absolutely no edge (a butter knife is sharper), so digging in anything hard is going to be hard to do. The shovel part is made of a very cheap steel, that has been hardened. It is so cheap, that even after it has been hardened, I can partly bend the shovel end, by hand. I am not trying to talk bad, but just take into consideration what you are going to be digging in, what kind of abuse that you will be giving it, if you are considering buying it. Like I said.. If you are going to be digging in really soft soil, or sand, or something like that.. This will hold up for a long time.. Just dont expect the same results in anything harder. For the record, I have read that the older versions.. ones that are a few years old, were made much much better then these newer, made in china ones. so you may get different reactions from people with older models that were made better.

Answer:	It does take heavy snow off the roof. The handle extends from 33" - 52" which is long enough for my SUV. The handle on the model I purchased does not fold (not sure if there is a model that does) so you need some space, either in the back of an SUV, trunk, or on the floor to keep it for the winter. It is a wonderful thing though. It pushes the snow off easily and has a large head. I've had it several years and it looks good as new. Doesn't scratch the car. I highly recommend this item.
Question:	After the screws are tightened are the blade and the grab bar supposed to be loose? The nut will not allow a non loose fit
Answer:	I don’t know if you can. I use it with the 3-piece pole provided. If your broom is the same width and has threads on one end I don’t see why that wouldn’t work.

Answer:	No, it should not be loose. We use a special nut called a lock nut. Lock nuts reduce loosening especially with situations where there is vibration. You will need to tighten the bolts with tools. You can't do it by hand. You will see the bolt extend through the nylon "lock" that holds it tight.

Answer:	I had a smaller Manplow, 32" or 36" and it worked well. Gave it to my son and found the 42" to replace it. Plenty big. Live in Colorado so generally light powder and gently sloping driveway so I can push across and off the edge or down the slope. It doesn't take much snow to make it a bit of a chore even with light snow and a 42" blade. It piles up quickly. I think a 48" blade might be too big, if you had more than 4" of snow. Or for that occasional heavier, wet snow. I'd go with the 42" Manplow.
Question:	Is the blade angled like a street snow plow so that the snow rolls off in one direction, or perpendicular to handle snow going over top and both sides
Answer:	The blade is 42 inches wide and 12 inches high, when the handle is attached it is 49 1/2 inches high total from floor to the top of the handle. I have a concrete driveway and it works wonderfully for me. Don't expect to move mountains of snow but it will move the snow.

Question:	Would this be comfortable for someone who is 6’4” to use
Answer:	The blade is curved over at the top like a street plow so that it rolls forward. At least until it's deeper than the blade. The only improvement that I would like to see is something that lets you lift the bottom of the blade up a bit when you tip it back so that you can more easily glide over uneven cement or up onto the grass when you get to the end of the cement. There's no fulcrum on the back side to help you over those rough spots, you have to lift it over those annoying spots.

Answer:	The blade is 8.5" tall, it has a very slight curve on the bottom 6" or so, but the last 2.5" has more of a curl to it. As for snow coming over the top, that is highly dependent on how much snow you're trying to push. This shovel is not heavy duty, it's built to clear 1-2" by plowing, maybe 3" tops. I get a lot of 1", 2", and 3" overnight snow falls and got tired of using my heavy 24" wide shovel as it took forever or getting my snow blower out for a couple of inches. This shovels work GREAT to clear light accumulations. For example, if you have 2-3" and are pushing it 6-10 ft there isn't a problem with it coming over the top. However, if I try to push for 20-25ft I get such a mountain of snow in front of me that it will start to come over the top. Speed is a factor as well. If you actually push fast with it, at a job it throws the snow in front of you like a plow, keeping it from coming over the back of the blade. My driveway is concrete, 150 ft long and on average 12 feet wide. I shovel it side to side fast and it literally throws it into my yard without lifting the shovel.

Answer:	I'm 6'1" and I don't have any issues. The handle is adjustable so you can adjust it to a comfortable level for you.

Answer:	if you have a couple of wrenches it takes less than 20 minutes. Not very hard if you can tighten a bolt and nut. 4 on the blade assembly, 2 on the direction assembly, 2 on the wheel assembly, 2 on the handle. Install washers and Push to lock pins to hold the wheels on. Insert the pin to lock the direction of the blade and you are read to go.

Answer:	You lift the entire snowcaster while turning around and the blade flips so that your pushing snow where you want it and the run off continues to the snow left on driveway not where you just plowed. No wrenches needed. This product is awesome I have a big driveway and literally 10 minutes I'm done plowing the snow. Using the old shovel 45 min to and hour. Once assembled your done with wrenches and sockets.
Question:	Regarding the emsco bigfoot snow roller pusher snow shovel –– 25-inch-wide blade: what material is the handle made of on the current models
Answer:	I always just tilt the handle to lift the blade, and I don't have any problems. My driveway has depressed sewers and cracks, so I have to adjust as I go. Admittedly, sometimes I feel like I'm wrestling with the handle, but that's just my shoveling techniqueLOL!! I'm in Connecticut, and we've had lots of snow this winter already; my Snowcaster is doing a great job.
Question:	Can this shovel be used on Trex composite decking
Answer:	I think this was a typo from the manufacturer. I believe they mean "striped," which means they have tread on them, as well as some color coded stripes to indicate level of wear. "Tyres" is just the British spelling of "tires" (not trying to be condescending; it looks weird to Americans and confuses many!)

Question:	how high of snow do you estimate this shovel can push
Answer:	I would contact the seller through the Amazon Returns & Orders menu. Just find the shovel and click the link related to that purchase. The shovel and handle that I received came as 2 separate pieces but in the same huge box. The seller may send you another handle if they have one in their warehouse. I live in a snow-free climate but this shovel is very sturdy and I use it for loading mulch, topsoil etc. The construction is great but the packaging could be improved.

Answer:	I read about a hack for gravel driveways and will try it this season on my tractor blade. Make a cut down a length of PVC, the length of your blade, slide it over the blade. The PVC will keep the edge of the blade from picking up the gravel. I am thinking of buying on of these Snowcasters for smaller jobs and will use PVC over the edge.

Answer:	The length of the handle is 48 in from the tip of the handle to the top of the blade, add another 8.5 in of the blade the total length is 48.5 in from tip of the handle to the bottom of the blade. Hope this helps you out.

Answer:	We have two of these shovels 24” & 36”. They are very effective for clearing light and powder snow up to about 6” deep. Very effective and easy to use. Heavy deep wet snow would be difficult, and a lift and throw shovel would be more effective. We have used them on concrete sidewalks and the concrete driveway and on our wood deck, but we have no tile. The 24” shovel should be very effective on tile. Go for it and see how it goes.
