Answer: As with any snow thrower, your gravel driveway will be picked up somewhat depending on the frozen surface conditions. I've had a blue stone driveway which over many years was scraped off and tossed into my lawn and neighbors yard. This changed when I had the driveway paved. To slow this you can set the skids to raise the height of the hopper and auger but unless you have the drive way graded each year at the beginning of the season, you will catch "some" of the stone. I believe you won't make holes but will notice the loss in time.

Answer: I would say save your money. I you were happy with the 18" then stick with it. The 21" seems to be underpowered for the extra added snow. In wet snow forget it, you are better off with a shovel, because the 21" with throw the snow about a foot. In dryer snow it still has its problems, again throwing the snow a short distance compared to the corded models I am use to. I don't know if the 21" has these problems because it simply takes in more snow then the 18" or if Snow Joe just made an underpowered machine.

Answer: It is not self propelled. There is a newer model that takes two of the battery packs that looks to be self propelled and more powerful.

Question: How does it do on the stuff the city plows into your driveway. With my toro electric (plug-in): I lift in on top (10 lbs.) turn it on and it works
Answer: This only works well for very powdery snow, and for which it can be very useful up to around 6,' while the wetter the snow then the more it will struggle, and it will slow down and sometimes even stop with 2'' of wet snow. For slushy snow then you need to shake the blower since it usually cannot throw it. And which reduces the life of the motor and batteries, though Snow Joe has been very good at honoring their warranty (one unit quit). But battery power is simply not very strong, and even the most expensive battery (6.0, which is not what it comes with) only provides about 30-45min, and charging takes about 4 hours (including about 30 min for it to cool down before recharging). Thus you need 3 batteries to do about 90 min. of stead work, and about 10 hours before you can do it again. And the cost of all of which normally places it close to the cost of a gas blower. The best buy seems to the corded electric models, though you should have a 12/3 or at least a 14/3 cord.

Answer: Haven't had snow yet, but have a similar thrower. Still need to assemble. There is no battery, runs off of power cord. Be careful that the cord does not get in front of the blower. I got the following power cord. http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00004SQFB?psc=1&redirect=true&ref_=oh_aui_search_detailpageLighted plug tells you if you have power in the cord, especially at night.
Question: Anyone else getting static shocks from this snow blower
Answer: I have not. But anytime you have plastic rotating inside plastic, you can build up a static charge.
Question: getting shocks through handle when pushing forcefully. Is it safe
Answer: I have not experienced that. I used mine today on about 3 inches of snow and it did the job with ease.

Answer: I don't know exactly but I can tell you that when we were experiencing the -54 degree (with wind chill) temperatures, it DID help and it did NOT irritate my dog's feet at all. You can hear it working and kind of sounds like Rice Krispies... Hahaha

Answer: I store mine outside under a cover all year. No problems so far (2years)
Question: Does it come with a cord
Answer: As stated no it does not come with a cord. The machine can draw up to 15 amps. If you are using a cord rated for 15 amps and it is a little long you are going to be tripping breakers or fuses more than likely. Rule of thumb is for every run of 100 feet you lose approximately 5 ampere rating on the cord. Your best bet if a person is going to be using a 100' cord is to buy a 20 amp rated cord. When you starve a motor of the electricity it needs to do its job it shortens its life. I would also buy a cord rated for very cold temperatures. Cold temperature cords do not get hard and crack when trying to roll them up when you are done.
Question: About how many inches of snow do you think this could cut through. As much as 10" high
Answer: I used it in 10-12 inches of snow last winter & it worked fine. You just need to take it easy with wet snow at that height. Dry snow is absolutely no problem. But anything higher I would say you should do it in 2 passes. It's not as powerful as a gas engine, but it'll get the job done if you use your head. Still easier than shoveling.

Answer: Rule of thumb: For MOST electric throwers, 12 Gauge will work up to 100 foot long cords. You can usually get away with 14 Gauge if you only need 50 feet of total distance. A 10 Gauge cord, while heavy and usually less flexible, will work up to 150 feet. First you must determine what gauge outdoor extension cord you need. Gauge is the thickness of the wires in the extension cord. The smaller the gauge, the thicker the wires, and the more electricity the wires will conduct. Outdoor extension cords have a maximum amperage that they can conduct. Using a cord that does not provide enough power can cause your snowblower to work less efficiently and even burn up the motor. It can also lead to fires as the cord will heat up, and could melt the outer protective covering. Also make sure that the outlet you plug it into is equal in value in amps, circuit and wire gauge size. Determine amperage of tool / appliance Calculate cord length - use shortest possible cord. Wire gauge determines amperage load Watts = Amps X Volts Example: 2,400 watts = 20 amps X 120 volts So if you have a 15 amp motor then it would be 15 amps X 120 volts which = 1,800 watts. Remember most of the standard orange 50 ft outdoor lawn & garden extension cords are 13 amps 1,625 watts maximum and not enough to run your snow blower to full capacity. Doing so will kill the motor especially when trying to remove heavy wet snow, ice & slush.
