Answer:	I don't remember, it may have, but it is very easy to install. There are shims with it for fine adjustments to align the motor gear teeth with the engine starter gear. The installation is intuitive especially if the old starter is still on.

The easy way to find out is to get the model of the engine and go to jacksmall engine .com. Go to parts diagram,look for the starter and part number. The number you posted only tell that it is 6HP. If you want to see if you can find another number on the engine and ask amazon to repost it and I will check with jacksmall engine to see if it fits.
