He said it raises the cover out of the pool and expose it to the sun and wears it out. I took his advice and never used a pillow. I am on my second above-ground pool installed 1998. I have had many pool covers over the years and the majority of them wear out within about 3-5 years. I have had many types expensive 20 year warranty and cheaper ones. They all last about the same 3-5 years. I live in Southwest Ohio and have a 28 foot diameter pool. I have had this cover for about 2 years and so far it shows no wear. I purchased a leave cover a few years ago and put the leaf cover the solid cover. I helps hold the solid down during winds. When I get a nice sunny day in the first three months I take the leaf cover off and empty the leaves and sometimes I put it back on to hold it down during the Spring rains. During the winters I siphon the water off by using garden hoses. I have done this procedure for the past 5 years. I would provably purchase this cover again. My neighbor uses a pillow but he has only had a pool for about three years. He tries to secure the pillow but it come loose and floats to one side. I see this year he is not using a pillow. You are welcome to try my way or keep fighting with the pillow. Your choice. Wish you well. |

We’ve had ours for about 3 weeks now and just got the pump last week (Intel Krystal Clear Cartridge filter pump) and it definitely needs something else to help keep it clean because that pump shouldn’t run more than 8 hours at a time. |

| Answer: | Drain holes just let the rain, leaves and tree dirt drain right back into your pool! I duck taped mine closed and it works much better. You must drain the top off after rain. Leave some slack in the cover for rain water. I put screen over the siphon hose to stop clogging. Use a ratchet strap with enough rope added to go around the pool and ratchet it tight to keep it from blowing off. Intex should make a cover without the holes too. Overall this is a good cover, Mine lasted 8 years with 2 times of replacing the Alum. Tape over the dumb holes. |

| Answer: | There are about 10 holes in the middle and around 10 holes around the outside about a foot and a half in from the outside edge these holes are around 1" |

| Answer: | Yes it does need a filter because of its size and amount of water used. I use the same water for 2 months. As long as you let the filter run about 2-4 hours per day. also change the cartridge every 2 weeks. I splash 1 cup of regular Clorox into the water once a week at night and put the filter on for several hours. Crystal Clear Water!! |
