Lower Water Level and Clean Filter

Lower the water level in the pool to around 4-6 inches below the skimmer. Clean your filter to get rid of all leftover debris so you will start with a fresh filter when you next open the pool. We recommend taking all your above-ground pool filter equipment indoors for the winter. This will help prevent possible damage and cracking from freezing water. For in-ground pools, the lines and plumbing need to be drained, plugged and filled with antifreeze. Make sure to follow the manufacturer's instructions for protecting your underground pool lines.

Drain and Plug Lines

This step is only required for in-ground pools. First you will want to close the valves and then drain or blow out the lines. Once completed, plug the line with a winterizing plug that is appropriate for your use. Proceed to fill the line to the skimmer with pool antifreeze. When you open your pool in the spring, you can vacuum the pool antifreeze or drain into the pool since it is non-toxic. Place a skimmer guard into the skimmer to help prevent ice damage that acts as an ice compensator.

Answer:	You must use a winterizing kit. This thing will not winterize your pool because it has no chlorine and no algaecide in it. A water clarifier only works if you have the filter running. And there is no way that a few enzymes can kill organic material like chlorine and algaecide.

Answer:	Yes, just be sure to either predilute the granules using a 5gal bucket or sweep them around from sitting at the bottom, on the liner. They have a kit for up to 25k gallons I believe, not that a 30k kit would harm it, just be sure to circulate the system for complete water turnover.

1. Remove & clean pool cover

Before taking off the pool cover, use a soft broom to sweep away dead leaves and large debris. Lift the cover away from the pool and lay it flat to wash. After it dries, fold and store it away for the summer. Remove any large debris that might have dropped into the pool.

2. Remove Winterizing Equipment

Remove the winterizing pool plugs that prevented water from getting into your pool’s plumbing during the winter. If you used an ice compensator, remove it from your skimmer.

3. Add Water

Since the pool probably lost several inches of water over the winter, bring your water levels up to normal. Use a hose filter to prevent metals and other contaminants from getting in your pool.

4. Set up filter and pump

Follow manufacturer instructions for setting up and running your filter and pump, including reinstalling the drain plugs and replacing broken or worn equipment. Take a look at your filter and replace or clean with HTH Filter Cleaner if necessary.

5. Clean and balance pool

Answer:	Yes, it does tell you what chemical to add in what order and wait times between each chemical addition. It's the only kit we have used for years because it contains everything you need and includes easy to understand instructions. We usually close our pool with the "In The Swim Ultimate Winterizing Kit" (closing kit) at the end of October and open with this kit at the beginning of April and the water is perfect, clean and clear. Answer:	No, it does not. You can see on the label - it lists the active ingredient as Calcium Hypochlorite, which is only a pure chlorinating agent. The CYA-stabilized chlorines are called "trichloro-s-triazinetrione" or "dichloro-s-triazinetrione" - the names are complicated-sounding but you can identify them easily by the "trichlor" or "dichlor" starting part.

Answer:	No, just puncture it and throw it in before covering the pool. We are in West Michigan, temperatures below freezing for weeks on end, no issues.

Answer:	What kind of system are you using? All systems clorine to inhibit bacteria I have use this in my saltwater pool for the last two years and it was fantastic! But I also have a full cover and I pretreat and clean extensively before using this product. Has work Fabulously for me but it depends on your system

Answer:	Not sure but if you look at their Algaecide 1 quart information it lists it contains 7.1% metallic copper if this is you are wondering about.
