Answer:	I have caught several rattlers in my garage on these traps. My intent was for mice and rats, but if a rattlesnake is in my garage, I am glad to catch it with this trap. How To Catch Them The Right Way

When having to lure a stubborn rodent:

Answer:	I catch lizards in them all the time here in Florida. I'm not sure they're attracted to the scent though. I only seem to catch them walking through high traffic areas. I also catch baby snakes constantly.

Answer:	Use a glass bowl at least 5" high and put peanut oil in it to about 3" high.Build a ramp (a board or a small piece of wood) that the mouse can climb up the ramp to the top of the bowl. I put a little bit of peanut butter on the side of the bowl which gets the mouse to balance on the side and usually falls into the bowl of peanut oil. Once they slide into the peanut oil and are covered with it there is no traction for the mouse to get out. They usually die from drowning or exhaust themselves trying to get out.Use some old tongs to disguard the mouse in a plastic baggie.

Answer:	I found buttered popcorn to be the most effective bait. The butter smell travels and the mice just love the popcorn. Even so, you do have to move the trap quite often as the nest learns what areas to avoid when their brethren don't return from gathering forays...

Answer:	I never transported an animal in it but I would think a heavy duty trash (approx 32 gal) around it with the top not tied would be sufficient.

I have had the best luck with Fried Chicken left over bones, Marchmallows, and Reeses Peanut Butter cups.What amazies me is if caught with a couple of chicken bones as bait when I go to get the trap the Coon has eaten the entire bone.

Answer:	The only difference is that in the 1089, when you lift the handle, it automatically sets the trap or locks the door for the animal you are trying to catch. In the 1079, which I bought, you set the trap manually. I like being able to get the bait inside and every thing done before I set the spring on the door. I don't want my arm cought in it trying to get the bait set. If you are trying to catch raccoons, you will also need something to stabilize the cage. Answer:	That will depend upon the raccoon in question. I've caught a lot of woodchucks, opossum, squirrels, the occasional bird, and a skunk in my 1079 but have been having mixed results with a current raccoon problem--raccoons got into an attic. I caught a medium sized one right away and another a few days later. Unfortunately the second one flipped the trap over which released the gravity lock and it was able to escape. After that I wired the trap to the roof framing so it couldn't be moved and they attacked the trap from the outside to get the bait... they even pulled the trigger rod out of the trap! I ordered a Havahart 1081 (15x15x42) recently and it arrived Wednesday. I set it Thursday evening and caught a huge raccoon overnight. I had that new trap wired to the roof framing also and covered the floor of the trap and pan with a piece of carpet that was in the attic. Some sardines (in a tin that was opened just a crack) was placed near the pan and away from the end and sides so the raccoons couldn't reach it. Regarding the it depends aspect... How big is the raccoon you are after in reality. If it is truly a large one get a bigger trap and I think you'll have better luck.
