Answer:	To whom it may concern: I have a similar trap. I always place the bait beyond the trigger plate, which is the mechanism for releasing the trap door. I have no idea why anyone would put bait in front of the trigger plate. I have had trouble with raccoons reaching in and getting the bait from the closed end of the trap, so I built a wooden cover for that end (completely covers the top, back, sides for the rear 12 inches). Now the only way for an animal to get the bait is to enter the front and step on (or otherwise jostle the trigger plate. I do put a little bait at the front door :-) I've caught 4 racoons in the past 3 to 4 weeks. Full disclosure: I don't have this particular trap, but it is VERY similar.

Answer:	I never transported an animal in it but I would think a heavy duty trash (approx 32 gal) around it with the top not tied would be sufficient.

Answer:	Depends on bait.... Birds and rats can get in and out without tripping the trap! I had to bend the wire at the top hook where it lockcs and it works fine. I always test it when I leave it. I have caught 12 Racoons...3 feral cats...and one neighbors trap. I have had the best luck with Fried Chicken left over bones, Marchmallows, and Reeses Peanut Butter cups.What amazies me is if caught with a couple of chicken bones as bait when I go to get the trap the Coon has eaten the entire bone.
Question:	What's the difference between "Havahart 1079 Live Animal Professional-Style One-Door Raccoon, Groundhog, Opossum, and Stray Cat..." and Havahart
Answer:	The only difference is that in the 1089, when you lift the handle, it automatically sets the trap or locks the door for the animal you are trying to catch. In the 1079, which I bought, you set the trap manually. I like being able to get the bait inside and every thing done before I set the spring on the door. I don't want my arm cought in it trying to get the bait set. If you are trying to catch raccoons, you will also need something to stabilize the cage. You would be surprised how a caccoon can roll the cage. Sue
Question:	What are the dimensions? I have a cat trap built the same way but i am afraid the raccoon might be too big for it
Answer:	That will depend upon the raccoon in question. I've caught a lot of woodchucks, opossum, squirrels, the occasional bird, and a skunk in my 1079 but have been having mixed results with a current raccoon problem--raccoons got into an attic. I caught a medium sized one right away and another a few days later. Unfortunately the second one flipped the trap over which released the gravity lock and it was able to escape. After that I wired the trap to the roof framing so it couldn't be moved and they attacked the trap from the outside to get the bait... they even pulled the trigger rod out of the trap! I ordered a Havahart 1081 (15x15x42) recently and it arrived Wednesday. I set it Thursday evening and caught a huge raccoon overnight. I had that new trap wired to the roof framing also and covered the floor of the trap and pan with a piece of carpet that was in the attic. Some sardines (in a tin that was opened just a crack) was placed near the pan and away from the end and sides so the raccoons couldn't reach it. Regarding the it depends aspect... How big is the raccoon you are after in reality. If it is truly a large one get a bigger trap and I think you'll have better luck.

Answer:	This bait should typically last 3 weeks or longer. As long as there is still an odor and the water has not dried up, the bait will still be effective.

Answer:	They need to be hung 3 to 6 feet off the ground in a sunny spot, by where the flies hang out. I personally went back to using the sticky tape kind because the attractant is this stuff only lasts about 2 days.

Answer:	First Gather your courage, then rotate the bottle so you can drown the remaining flies. Then you steel yourself because you going to have to unscrew and dump it. If you have a large yard dig a hole and bury it or dump into a trash bag, seal it, dump it and run because it will stink like nothing you have ever smelled. Then rinse out, refill and add bait. Answer:	I purchased this one to catch chipmunks; works perfect; for bunnies, it's probably too small; there is only 10 inches from the door to the trigger they have to step on; maybe real small rabbits, but overall, I would say don't trust it for rabbits; you need next size larger.

Answer:	I have caught 5 grey squirrels in less than 24 hrs with this trap, several of which were quite large. I used peanuts as bait. This, by far, has been the most effective trap to catch grey squirrels.

Answer:	A bowl would be to large and might block the trip mechanism. You could use a large cap off a bottle or one of those small plastic cups that fruit or pudding comes in filled with Pepsi. Balancing one of those on the trip plate so when the rat goes for a drink should work to catch your addict.

Chipmunks

Question:	Is this big enough and sturdy to catch common Oregon squirrels
Answer:	While the design does limit the smell somewhat, it's best used outdoors. When the tide of rotten fly's does rise, so does the smell of the carnage. The bait that is used is hard to smell though, unless you put your nose in it. Which I don't recommend. I have a jar hanging from a tree in the back yard some 20 feet from the back door. It attaches fly's well enough that they don't bother trying to get inside. And we don't smell a single thing.
Question:	The picture shows the length as 12.6" but the description says 17". Which is correct
Answer:	We used the whole bottle, then drained out the dead flies. There will be dead flies & it smells too, so it should be outside, unless it's in a barn. Will buy new bait for next year.
