How It Works

1.Place the bait (What is recommended as a bait for this kid of trap is the peanut butter) in just a small compartment in one of the ends, open holes should face the trap's inside. This is going to lure the mouse into the trap, where the smell comes from.

2.Open the gate on that other end. As the mouse moves to the other end to reach the bait, the weight of the mouse is going to move to the farthest fulcrum side triggering the trap and the gate is going to close.

Answer:	When my husband and I caught rodents in a have-a-heart trap we would take the chipmunks to the Catholic cemetery and squirrels and rats to the non-sectarian cemetery. Both locations had plenty of grass and trees and were about 7 miles from our house. They would run like crazy when we opened the trap door. Put a towel around the cage to keep them calmer during transport.

Answer:	They are reusable but I found that I had an issue where the mouse chewed the little flap that holds the panel in the down position. Once that happened, the trap is no good. Answer:	I was having the same problem. There’s a tiny tab ‘lock’ on the top center which keeps the door from sliding up. I used a knife wedged between the door and trap (top inner side of door) to push the door out a little then slid it up. It’s strange there is no instructions on how to do this properly. I could not do it without the knife.

Answer:	I live in a big city near downtown. The nearby railroad yard next to a park seemed ideal. I left some food, couple paper towels and paper towel cardboard roll. I think he’ll be fine. Question:	Are these the longer traps that fit two
Answer:	You could fit two mice in there but it won't catch 2 at once because it's locked up when the first mouse goes in. A door pops up behind the mouse.

Answer:	I'm not sure. These traps didn't work well for me. In fact, six out of six failed -- the mice got in, took the peanut butter, and left without the traps ever activating. I think they would actually be too small for chipmunks, except for babies. Some might fit; many would not, I think. Their extra weight might -- possibly -- trigger the traps better than the mice did, but that's obviously only if they could fit in to begin with. I would probably go with something a little bigger and sturdier -- probably metal. If you do use these, watch them closely because I think chipmunks would really panic in such a small space. Answer:	It seems that the juvenile mice are too light to trigger the traps. I am going to experiment with adding weight in the form of washers to make the trigger more sensitive.

Answer:	Yes it has a basic handle made of thin metal wire on a hinge that can lie flat on top of the trap, which may be why it’s not apparent in some photos. But it’s definitely there.
Question:	How does it actually trap the mice? Is there a “trap door
Answer:	Mine was the same. It is not a dud though, you just have to adjust the sensitivity. Under the trigger plate is a small silver magnet. Gently bend the flap on the trigger plate away from the magnet to make it less sensitive, and closer to the magnet to make it more sensitive. If the metal flap is set too close to the magnet, the force of the magnet will trigger the trap, even with no weight on the trigger, and it won’t stay open.

Answer:	Cheese does work (just as in the cartoons), however peanut butter is the more attractive bait.

Answer:	I don't know what the difference is, but I bought the M310S this past weekend, and I have caught between 4-5 mice every night (Plus some during the day. That is over 20 mice in the last 4-5 days.) All I used was a bit of peanut butter inside the trap. This thing works AWESOME

Answer:	I found buttered popcorn to be the most effective bait. The butter smell travels and the mice just love the popcorn. It's clean and cheap (I just save a few of the more buttery kernels when I pop a bag), as well as being effective. I actually lay a path of smaller kernels from various areas to lead them to the trap. Even so, you do have to move the trap quite often as the nest learns what areas to avoid when their brethren don't return from gathering forays...
Question:	They say mice can squeeze throuh the smallest crack or hole So wouldn't the peep holes on the side be big enough for them to get out
Answer:	Mice can squeeze through holes about the size of a dime. The holes on the sides are 9/16" by about 3/16", much too small for them to fit through.

Question:	Can you please rush my order? I'm having an issue and can't get these locally
Answer:	It sounds like you are not getting it down quite deep enough. I have that problem also because of rocky soil. I would try to be sure both pairs of scissor jaws have a clear place before setting the trigger. You can use some type of hand spade or other digging tool to rake a slot where the scissor jaws will sit. also make sure after arming the trap that it is sitting parallel with the ground-not tilted. Make sure the trip lever is just resting on the ground or a hair above. I also believe you can increase your odds greatly by setting more than one trap in likely areas in close proximity to one another. Happy hunting.

Answer:	When the trigger is on the top of the ground and the mole is moving the dirt up it it's the trigger. We have never caught anything with this device. I believe it it to big for moles.

Take off the compartment door

Hold the bait compartment in one hand, 4 fingers cling to the outside of the bait compartment, (4 fingers must be lower than three horizontal lines). Just pull up at the same time and you can easily remove the bait compartment.

Set bait

Put some peanut butter in the bait compartment and put it back with holes size inward the trap (The open holes facing towards the inside of the trap).
