Answer:	I purchased this one to catch chipmunks; works perfect; for bunnies, it's probably too small; there is only 10 inches from the door to the trigger they have to step on; maybe real small rabbits, but overall, I would say don't trust it for rabbits; you need next size larger.

Question:	Will it catch a skunk? what will
Answer:	I did not receive instructions with mine either, but I figured it out.--- untape the set rod from the top of the trap and lay it to the front. raise the semi loop (on the front door) up and over the set rod, raise the wire with 2 eyes(door latch) to the top, pull the door (spring loaded) open from the bottom, flip the set rod over the semi loop and into the eye of the bait holder that protrudes thru the top. Works well ,I have 4 of them. If there is a burr on the end of set rod , I lightly file , I also set mine with a very small amount of the set rod sticking thru the eye

Answer:	Yes it has a handle. Makes them easy to bath and holes on trap are so small you won’t get big. Use oranges if trapping squirrels they love them

Answer:	I haven't had a problem with the animals destroying the springs, but I catch and release pretty quickly and I've only been using it for a couple months so far. I know when there is a squirrel around, set the trap, and within minutes the animal is caught. Our fastest time is 4 minutes, but 10 - 15 mins is avg. I read the bad reviews and some of those people just don't understand the concept of the bait and hook or catch and release. I have found this trap to be very effective for my purpose - catching squirrels. And I've scored a couple mice along the way too.

Answer:	Had the same problem, at first. I tied a wire between the trigger and a piece of card board. When a chipmunk pulled the card it releases the door. Th problem is that it is a pull trigger, instead of a push trigger. If the critter doesn't pull the trigger, it gets away.

How To Catch Them The Right Way

When having to lure a stubborn rodent:

• ✓ Keep the compression bar snapped into the Storage Latch so the door stays propped open for as long as you need to lure your rodent. Put some sweet-smelling/fragrant bait inside and outside of the trap for a few days. Peanut butter, dog food, and dried fruit are some good choices. Check to see if the bait was taken now you are ready for the next step to set the trap to catch your rodent!

When you are ready to catch a rodent:

• ✓ Place the cage in a dark and gloomy place or corner where they often appear. Preferably somewhere on the way to their nest. ☛ Set the release lever for the door very lightly and make sure the hook is not angled to the side, have it straight, and as centered as possible.

Answer:	maybe - but if you want the feral kitten caught, do like I did, put a brown paper shopping bag flat on the bottom (cats don't like to walk on the wire) put the food in a paper bowl, then hold the trap open with your finger, when the kitten goes in, let the door snap shut, I caught 4 in one try, one went in and the others followed it in

Answer:	If she gets to the rear where the plate is mine is sensitive enough that she would trip mechanism if she walks on the plate. The only problem I've had was when I trapped a coon that likely weighed 25 - 30 lbs and he knocked out the rear portion escaping [we have cameras]. Question:	What have you put under it (to prevent bathroom accidents in your vehicle) during transportation
Answer:	I never transported an animal in it but I would think a heavy duty trash (approx 32 gal) around it with the top not tied would be sufficient.
Question:	why bait tray tripped, bait gone, no catch
Answer:	Depends on bait.... Birds and rats can get in and out without tripping the trap! I had to bend the wire at the top hook where it lockcs and it works fine. I always test it when I leave it. I have caught 12 Racoons...3 feral cats...and one neighbors trap. I have had the best luck with Fried Chicken left over bones, Marchmallows, and Reeses Peanut Butter cups.What amazies me is if caught with a couple of chicken bones as bait when I go to get the trap the Coon has eaten the entire bone.
Question:	What's the difference between "Havahart 1079 Live Animal Professional-Style One-Door Raccoon, Groundhog, Opossum, and Stray Cat..." and Havahart
Answer:	The only difference is that in the 1089, when you lift the handle, it automatically sets the trap or locks the door for the animal you are trying to catch. In the 1079, which I bought, you set the trap manually. I like being able to get the bait inside and every thing done before I set the spring on the door. I don't want my arm cought in it trying to get the bait set. If you are trying to catch raccoons, you will also need something to stabilize the cage. You would be surprised how a caccoon can roll the cage. Sue
Question:	What are the dimensions? I have a cat trap built the same way but i am afraid the raccoon might be too big for it
Answer:	That will depend upon the raccoon in question. I've caught a lot of woodchucks, opossum, squirrels, the occasional bird, and a skunk in my 1079 but have been having mixed results with a current raccoon problem--raccoons got into an attic. I caught a medium sized one right away and another a few days later. Unfortunately the second one flipped the trap over which released the gravity lock and it was able to escape. After that I wired the trap to the roof framing so it couldn't be moved and they attacked the trap from the outside to get the bait... they even pulled the trigger rod out of the trap! I ordered a Havahart 1081 (15x15x42) recently and it arrived Wednesday. I set it Thursday evening and caught a huge raccoon overnight. I had that new trap wired to the roof framing also and covered the floor of the trap and pan with a piece of carpet that was in the attic. Some sardines (in a tin that was opened just a crack) was placed near the pan and away from the end and sides so the raccoons couldn't reach it. Regarding the it depends aspect... How big is the raccoon you are after in reality. If it is truly a large one get a bigger trap and I think you'll have better luck.

Answer:	I think it would work for a small kitten. The large trap is 12.3 x 6.6 x 5.3 inches. That's about the size of a standard plastic shoebox, with the trap being about an inch taller. You could also draw a rectangle on a piece of paper roughly the dimensions of the end of the trap to help visualize the opening, and then decide if the kitten would likely go through it.
