It can be difficult to know just how much is being applied with the hose sprayer since it will disperse very quickly. | Answer: | The instruction book tells you about the warranty. I googled it and the instructions say that the light bulb is not covered. I recently bought this one to replace a competitor's unit and have noticed with theirs that the more you turn the light on and off (or unplugging it), it shortens its life span exponentially. I normally try to VERY CAREFULLY change the sticky pad while the unit is on. In doing this you will also have to remember that it is a UV light bulb and its effectiveness goes down quickly as it's used. Manufacturers normally recommend changing the bulbs every 6 months. With that being said I would definitely change the bulb at least once a year. You will also notice a drop in performance or bug collection even though the light bulb still illuminates and looks like it's working. That's your other sign that the bulb needs to be changed, not just when it burns out. I generally try to change it late winter early spring to get the most out of my bulbs. We don't have as many bugs here during the late fall and winter seasons so the unit doesn't have to work as efficiently during those seasons. |

Remove the clear plastic cover by squeezing the tabs and pulling downward. Repeat this process on the other side of the bulbs. Turn bulb counter clockwise and pull straight down. Remove both bulbs. Insert new bulb into the socket, twist clockwise until secure. plug the unit in and turn it on to test that the bulbs are now working. If they do not come on, unplug the unit and remove the bulbs and try to re-seat them again. If the bulbs come on, then re-attach the bulb cover. |

My understanding is that the unit (the machine) surface (not the UV light bulb) is permanently coated with the Ti02 titanium dioxide which produces CO2 (a mosquito attractant) when it reacts to the UV light from the bulb. The UV light is, itself, a mosquito attractant. I place a small octenol CO2 cartridge on the grate just under the light to enhance performance. The light lasts about 3000 hours or 4 months before it needs to be replaced. The machine needs to be run continuously in order to effectively disrupt the mosquito breeding cycle. Dynatrap has an easy "How to replace the bulb" video on their website. Other than the octenol cartridge that I purchase from the local home improvement store and place on the DT1775, there are no other cartridges involved. Height and location of the Dynatrap unit must be about 4 to 5 feet high from the ground (mosquito flying altitude) and near plants and bushes where mosquitos like to hide. |

We have noticed a significant drop in the number of mosquitos. The unit is in our backyard, but we've noticed a drop in mosquitos even on our front porch. Before getting this, we really could not sit outside even in the afternoon because of the shaded yard. At dusk, it was unbearable unless you didn't mind getting eaten alive. So glad we got this...can't recommend it highly enough! |

But I think they got stunned or killed by the fan blades, because they did not fly back out. Note, this is not a "miracle machine"; you won't catch a whole swarm of bugs this way. But I would say it can catch maybe between 1 to 3 bugs per night. |
