How To Install The Mole Repellent:

Step 1 - To use, make a pilot hole in the ground with a wooden or steel rod. (Do not hammer the unit)

Step 2 - Insert the mole repellent into ground soil and make sure the top is about 2 inches from the floor to prevent water from flowing into the interior. 

Step 3 - Press the ON/OFF button to turn on. When you hear a ""buzz"", indicating that the device is running  (For first-time use, leave power switch "OFF" for 3 full days of sunlight to charge.)

Answer:	The device makes a beeping tone about every 30 seconds. I can't answer the distance question. I can't hear it in the house with the doors and windows closed.
